On Tuesday, April 14, 2026 I was looking for something in my rear seat and noticed the seat was damp. I couldn't figure out the cause so I goggled it and found out that Toyota had a limited service campaign called lsc21td03 on my 2017 Tacoma because of the third brake light having a gasket issue causing water to enter the vehicle. I called a local Toyota dealer and was told that the fix for my vehicle had expired in 2025. This water intrusion from the high third brake light can cause mold, interior damage, or electrical issues. This is an issue that Toyota previously acknowledged but has now stopped covering it. I called Toyota corporate and was again told yes the repair fix was expired. I asked why wasn't I notified and was told that Toyota sent out letters. I told the representative that I never received a letter and was told the mailing was done by an outside company. I asked what could Toyota do to help me and was told to go back to the dealer and maybe they "would give me a discount or reduced price on the fix". The dealer offered nothing. Upon further research I found that several Toyota Tacoma owners state they were not aware of the service campaign and ended up changing the light themselves or paying out of pocket to have it repaired. I feel that this is an issue that Toyota is aware of and they should take care of it. This should have been a recall issue rather than just a service campaign that the public was not fully aware of. I still don't know the extent of damage to my vehicle because the dealer gave me a quote of $690 to repair. I questioned why so much to change a light and gasket and was told they have to take the panels down and clean the vehicle to make sure no mold was there. The quote was given without even examining the vehicle. I'm asking you to please look into this situation.

On Sunday, March 15,2026, I was driving from houston, TX to pharr, TX at the speed of 75mph on the left lane to pass an 18 wheeler, with another 18 wheeler behind me, and my truck started idling erratically. I lost speed and my service engine light came on. My truck slowed down and I almost got in a car accident with the 18 wheelers because the truck did this. The truck behind me slowed down on time and it went immediately to the right lane to avoid hitting my truck. I feared for my life. All the vehicles behind me and the 18 wheelers also went to the right lane to avoid me. By this time, the trac light had already come on also. I managed a space of no vehicles and steered towards the right safety lane. I pulled over at the local truck stop and stoped my truck to rest. After about 5 minutes I tried starting my truck and it wasn’t starting. I am a little mechanically inclined, so I started troubleshooting the truck. My code reader gave these codes: p1605-00, p0300-27, p0300-85, and p0302-00. Unscathed to start the truck after a while and got back on the road. The drive was brutal, as the truck kept burping erratically, but I made it home safely. I took my truck to the mechanic and he did some repairs and told me the issue is the fuel pump. I have checked the recalls for my truck but it shows zero recalls for my truck. Luckily I am alive to report this life threatening safety issue that Toyota has on this model. How do I get Toyota responsible to make the repairs on my truck? the part alone is over $1200 at o’reily auto parts.

Air bags (driver and passenger curtain airbags) no other airbags deployed. Been in repair since 3/8/26. Currently 4/21/26. Insurance already sent body shop money. Parts on national backorder and manufacturer switch has not been determined yet by Toyota. Truck will not be released back to me until the repair is completed per email. I need adequate transportation provided to continue going to and from work. My insurance has maxed its coverage and cannot extend. I should not be out of pocket more than I already am while waiting on a part that is not in my control. Accident: I hydroplaned and ended in a ditch after going over a t-intersection. Air bags went off and vehicle was drivable after. Submitted a claim to insurance and here we are.

It happened on February 17, 2026 around noon. My truck is park on the drive way, I went outside to checked the condition of the weather and I notice the driver side window glass looks like a crumpled reynolds aluminum wrap. I called Toyota service dept since the truck won't start. The battery was replaced and so is the window glass but, they told me it's not covered by the warranty. I paid the new window glass for $619. 99. I called geico my insurance and the deductible was $1,000. 00. I told geico I will not claim for the damages for now. I was wondering of all the cars and trucks park in our neighborhood, only my truck sustained this kind of damage. Would this fall under defective materials used by Toyota?.

When the radar becomes covered with ice and snow, the truck continuously spawns alerts for each safety sense feature that is disabled, including a pop up the occludes the instrument cluster and can not be dismissed. Multiple warnings interfere with focus in poor conditions and create more of a safety hazard due to driver distraction.
Chassis/frame was recalled on warranty that Toyota did not inform me of and they refused to do anything about it. They said two regular mail letters were sent out to me. I have never received them. The framing of my vehicle is so bad that an accident was waiting to happen when I took my vehicle foreign oil exchange. I asked them to look at the muffler because it was hanging and that’s when they noticed the situation and they stated that you are very lucky that you are alive because the framing could have collapse on the road. I called Toyota and they said the warranty expired on 2019. I told them that I was never aware of this recall but and never received any letter regarding it. I am filing this complaint. I am asking for the company to provide a part and labor it. If they first have contacted me this situation could have been fixed. There has been lawsuits regarding the same situation. If they refuse to fix this situation, I will have to file a lawsuit against Toyota for the labor and part that cost roughly $16,500 plus tax. The car runs very well with no other major issues. They did not either send me a letter of the spring leaf recall. I am asking this agency to get involved this has been a major accident.

The vehicle is a 2025 Toyota Tacoma trd off-road subject to safety recall 25ta11 involving the front axle shafts potentially breaking. The manufacturer has confirmed the recall and that a remedy is not yet available. The vehicle has been at a Toyota dealership and out of service for an extended period while waiting for a repair solution. The dealer has confirmed that no repair can currently be performed because Toyota has not released a remedy. This defect creates a safety concern because a front axle shaft failure could result in loss of drive power and potential loss of vehicle control while driving. The problem has been confirmed by the dealership and manufacturer through the active safety recall notice. No warning lights or prior symptoms were observed before the recall notification. The vehicle is currently available for inspection at the Toyota dealership upon request.
The 3rd generation Tacomas rear cabin vents (2 vents) allow water to enter the cabin because they are not tight to the body or sealed properly. The water leaks down the back wall and forward onto the floor soaking the carpet and padding underneath. The water in the carpet/padding has yielded mildew/mold throughout (water goes all the way to the front of the truck). The water also leaks through a floor grommet into a section where the cab mount bolts are and significant rust develops. Not only is the exposure to mold a health hazard, but the corrosion/rust on the cab mount bolts is a significant structural concern. There are many online posts with this problem, and I have just recently found this on my Tacoma. My vehicle has had the 3rd brake light recall, and this issue is completely separate from that recall. Toyota has a history on these vehicles not sealing them as they should. 1. The 2 rear cabin vents fail to keep water from entering the cab. I am happy to provide the vehicle for inspection. 2. Exposure to toxic mold is a health concern. Significant structural damage to the cab mount bolts is a concern if the vehicle were to be in an accident. 3. Numerous people online have confirmed this issue, and they have indicated dealerships are well aware of the issue. I put a garden hose to the back of my truck myself and saw water entering the vehicle. 4. Vehicle has not been inspected by manufacturer, police, insurance, etc. 5. Unknown when water leak first started. In the past 2 years I have started to notice a mildew smell after a rainy day. I am happy to provide additional photos, but the internet is full of this very issue. Please see the following sites with photos/videos/descriptions of other Tacoma owners having the exact same issue. Thank you very much for your time. I am requesting executive-level review and assistance regarding a documented paint failure on my 2022 Toyota Tacoma, finished in paint code 040 (super white). Toyota has informed me that my VIN is not included in customer support program #xxx. However, this determination does not align with the physical condition of my vehicle, which exhibits the same defect described in that program. The paint on the upper door frame surrounding the driver’s side rear cab window is actively peeling, with bare metal exposed. This is not cosmetic wear, environmental damage, or owner neglect. It is a manufacturing paint failure, occurring in a non-wear area and consistent with issues documented on other 2022 Tacoma vehicles with super white paint. Exposed metal presents legitimate concerns regarding corrosion, long-term durability, and diminished resale value—none of which should occur on a vehicle of this age. Toyota’s reputation for quality is the reason I purchased this truck, and this experience has been both disappointing and frustrating. I am requesting that Toyota acknowledge the defect based on physical evidence, not solely VIN eligibility criteria, and provide a fair resolution, including inspection and repair or repainting of the affected area. I respectfully ask that this matter be escalated for review and resolution consistent with Toyota’s commitment to customer satisfaction and product quality. Sincerely, [xxx] owner, 2022 Toyota Tacoma Toyota brand engagement center reference # 251105002053 information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

Dear Toyota japan customer experience team, I am the owner of a 2016 Toyota Tacoma currently registered in guam, u. S. A. I am writing to request your assistance regarding a water leak issue from the rear brake light area, which has caused the carpets and seats to become wet and develop mold. I originally purchased this vehicle in saipan and recently relocated to guam. When I visited the guam Toyota service center, they kindly inspected my vehicle and informed me that this issue is related to the 3rd brake light gasket recall; however, the recall period has already expired. Unfortunately, I was never notified of this recall while the vehicle was in saipan. Continuous exposure to mold has seriously affected both my health and my daughter’s health. Because of this, I had the vehicle professionally cleaned and sanitized by a specialist company. The Tacoma has always been our family’s favorite car, but now I drive it only because I have no choice. Every time I get in, I feel anxious and uneasy. The water leak itself is concerning, but the mold issue worries me even more. I truly hope this water leak and the mold problem can both be resolved so that I can once again enjoy driving my Tacoma with peace of mind. The blue circles in the attached photos indicate areas suspected of mold. These photos were taken right before I sent the car for cleaning. According to the cleaning company, when they removed the seats, they found water underneath the seats and carpets. Whenever I drive the vehicle, I experience persistent coughing and headaches due to mold exposure. This has become a serious health and safety concern. Since this issue is directly related to a previously recalled safety defect, I kindly request Toyota japan to consider a goodwill repair or safety exception to address the water leak and the resulting interior damage.

My 2010 Toyota Tacoma frame is rusted and deteriorated. This has been confirmed by my local Toyota dealership (ira Toyota of saco , me) the vehicle has approximately 130,000 miles and is in otherwise good working order. I do not expect a 15 year old Toyota to have a rusted frame, which has become entirely unsafe. Indeed, the Toyota dealership refused to even put the truck up on the lift given the unsafe condition of the frame . I understand that 2005 -2010 Tacoma trucks had this same issue and there was a class action on 21 may 2017. I also understand that the frame recall expired in 2022. Regardless, I contacted Toyota asking if they would still replace the frame and they responded in the negative. I have attached photos of the frame and a copy of Toyota’s response. Please advise. Thank you.
The horn started malfunctioning recently at around 200k miles, sometimes working sometimes not (regardless of steering wheel positioning). As prior complaints have stated; the suspect was likely the clockspring, but all the steering wheel controls were functioning with no issues and no warning lights illuminated. Also, I've continously found myself in the 3rd gear multiple times after very lighy taps (mainly from a drink falling/bumping into it) as the cupholders in the front are very small and/or not stable for anything other than small disposable containers.

On 10/9/25 said vehicle was brought to central florida Toyota (cft) for the investigation of water intrusion into the rear passenger compartment. The cause of water intrusion was due to a defective duct (vent) assy (62930-04040. There are 2 vents located at the rear of the passenger cab. ). The cost for the repair was estimated to be $15,153. 39. This exorbitant fee includes the replacement of the entire carpeting system and the need to remove the vehicle bed to access the vents. Based on a musty smell cft assumed that the carpet had been damaged by molds. Subsequently, cft was requested to have the 2 vents replaced, only, and not the carpeting. In return, cft stipulated that I must sign a health hazard waiver due the assumed (no evidence) moldy condition. Now, not only can 2 simple mechanical vents cause such an exorbitant fee to repair it has now evolved into a potential health safety issue. Yet, Toyota has failed to provide any caution/warning to the effect of water intrusion into the rear of the passenger area. No caution/warning in owner's manual that vehicle owner must periodically inspect the rear passenger for water, no warning tags/labels inside vehicle. On the other, my Toyota oem floor mats have all sorts caution/warning plus installation instruction. It is recommended, as a minimum, Toyota must issue a recall to confirm the integrity of all vents in circulation. On my vehicle, the defective vent was due to bad seal which implies poor manufacturing. Secondly, the location of the vents is simply poor engineering. Even, if there's no damage to the carpeting the cost to replace the 2 vents would be $2,500 due to the need to vehicle bed removed.

Water leaked through the third brake light assembly into the cab roof, soaking the ceiling, seats, and carpet. This caused extensive mold growth and electrical corrosion near the control modules. The affected systems include the third brake light seal, cab roof, interior materials, and ecm (documentation attached). The truck remains at the dealer and is available for inspection upon request. The entire interior is contaminated with mold, creating a serious health hazard, and the vehicle cannot be safely driven or occupied. The leak also damaged electrical components, posing a risk of malfunction or short-circuit while operating the vehicle, and it is currently undrivable due to this damage. The problem was confirmed by Toyota of clermont, which inspected the truck, documented the damage, and provided a written estimate exceeding $8,000 for repairs (copy attached). The vehicle was at the dealership while the manufacturer’s limited service campaign 21td03—issued to address this same defect—was still active, but the required inspection and seal repair were not performed. The failure of Toyota of clermont to perform the mandated remedy under campaign 21td03 while the vehicle was in its possession resulted in a serious safety hazard. The entire interior of the cab—including the seats, ceiling, and carpet—is covered in mold, and the vehicle is undrivable due to water intrusion and electrical damage. There were no warning lamps or error messages before the failure, only a strong musty smell inside the cab shortly before the leak became visible. Toyota motor north America was notified but declined responsibility. This case represents a potential noncompliance with federal defect-remedy obligations under the national traffic and motor vehicle safety act (49 u. S. C. § 30120) and should be investigated as such.
You can copy and paste this link into your browser if its not click able, to see video of the event! I got pieces of glass into my eyes [xxx] video of the event ?? this is what I sent to Toyota and the dealer Toyota of pharr, as I get ready to take it in for repair but they told me to make a claim on my insurance, when it was literally a defect with the glass warranty claim – defective sunroof shattering (2025 trd pro) to whom it may concern, I am the owner of a 2025 Toyota trd pro currently under the new vehicle limited warranty. While driving, the sunroof on my vehicle shattered spontaneously without any external impact. I have video evidence clearly showing the glass cracking, with no rock strikes or other outside causes. This failure I feel is a defect in materials, not outside damage, and therefore falls squarely under Toyota’s new vehicle limited warranty. The warranty specifically excludes glass damage only when caused by external objects; it does not exclude spontaneous failures like this one. For my safety and the integrity of the vehicle, I am requesting that this repair be processed under warranty without delay. I’m risking water to enter the vehicle which will cause more damage. Please document and submit this claim to Toyota corporate. I also feel I need to help the public of future Tacoma trd pro buyers and owners and file a formal defect complaint with NHTSA, as this type of spontaneous glass failure represents a significant safety concern. I respectfully request written confirmation that this will be covered under warranty and ask that you proceed with the repair promptly. Thank you for your immediate attention to this matter. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).
The frame on my 2010 Toyota Tacoma has developed severe perforation and rust-through. There are large holes in the frame, and the exhaust hanger has broken completely off the frame rail. The corrosion is spreading across multiple points, making the vehicle unsafe and at risk of structural failure while driving. I purchased the truck in may 2020 and brought it to a Toyota dealer for a paid multi-point inspection that included the undercarriage. At that time, Toyota’s zh6 frame corrosion program was still active. No frame concerns were reported, and the program was never disclosed to me. Toyota has since denied assistance, even though the condition now represents a clear safety hazard. This frame corrosion is not cosmetic. It is structural and has already caused parts of the vehicle to detach.
The rear cabin pressure vent leaks water into the cabin creating an unsafe vehicle to drive during rainy days. I took the vehicle to sarasota Toyota and was told that my claim to get it fixed thru the Toyota warranty was denied because it is considered trim. I contacted the warranty company and Toyota about this issue but was told the same. Not covered. I am also concerned that the water intrusion can affect the safety and health hazard of more drivers with this problem if not addressed by Toyota as soon as possible.
Clock spring has failed. I've lost all steering wheel button controls as well as cruise control. Air bag light has now come on. I am afraid that if I get into a wreck, the airbag will not deploy. This seems to be a common issue with this select year for this Tacoma.
I think it’s a serious safety issue for Toyota not to include a trailer brake controller or at least a connector to install an aftermarket trailer brake controller on my truck. This has been mentioned numerous times by customers. My truck is rated to tow 6,400 with no way to add a trailer brake controller. I don’t see how Toyota can legally sell this truck without at least giving an option to install an aftermarket controller, even though Toyota doesn’t recommend it.
After a couple of years of owning my truck, the paint started on my hood and roof started to turn white and fade. I don’t understand why Toyota uses this type of paint that’s going to get messed up after a couple of years. Also after 4 years of owning the truck, the suspension is all messed up (never took the truck off road or driven it anywhere else but the streets and now they make noises like crazy.

Report a paint defect on my 2008 Toyota Tacoma, painted in super white (040). Over time, I have noticed significant paint peeling on multiple areas of the truck, including the roof, hood, and door frames. The paint is deteriorating down to the primer, and in some places, the metal is now exposed. I am aware of Toyota’s customer support program t-sb-0162-19, which extends warranty coverage for similar paint issues on various Toyota models using the same super white (040) and blizzard pearl (070) paints. However, I am disappointed to learn that the Tacoma—despite having identical paint and similar defects—was excluded from the original program. This paint failure is clearly not due to age or wear, but rather a manufacturing defect that has been documented by thousands of Tacoma owners nationwid.

My 2007 Toyota Tacoma has an open recall on the rear leaf springs due to the risk of fuel tank puncture and fire. However, Toyota and their authorized dealership are unable to perform this safety recall because the vehicle’s frame is too severely rusted. The dealership informed me that attempting the repair could further damage the vehicle, and they requested I sign a waiver releasing Toyota of liability if harm occurs during the recall process. They also informed me that replacement frames are no longer available, so the recall cannot be completed as I was interested to pay for this to get the recall safely completed this leaves me with a vehicle that presents a known, life-threatening safety hazard, which Toyota cannot resolve. The frame corrosion is due to a previously acknowledged defect for which Toyota offered limited-time frame replacements that expired before I owned the vehicle. I believe Toyota is violating its obligation to provide a remedy for this open recall. I am requesting that NHTSA investigate this issue, as it appears Toyota is leaving customers with dangerous, unrepaired vehicles and no available remedy.
Vehicle: Toyota Tacoma (2024 model year) component: factory-installed plastic bed cap rail covers I am reporting a recurring and potentially hazardous issue with the factory-installed plastic bed cap rail covers on the 2024 Toyota Tacoma. These covers separate from the truck body, especially at the corners, during normal use. This is not caused by aftermarket accessories, but appears to result from the flawed design and attachment method. A significant number of 4th generation (2024+) Tacoma owners are experiencing similar problems with lifting and separation of these factory-installed covers. Owner forums, complaint boards, and dealer interactions reveal this is a widespread defect affecting many vehicles. Owners report frustration with the lack of a permanent solution from the manufacturer, and many have sought dealership repairs or warranty replacements, only to have the issue recur within days or weeks. The factory-installed (and warranty replacement) rail covers are attached using double-stick tape and a single row of plastic clips, which does not provide sufficient security, especially at highway speeds. The covers flex and flutter, increasing the risk of detachment while the vehicle is in motion. Detached rail covers may create a road hazard for other vehicles or pedestrians. Multiple warranty claims and dealership interactions have been pursued, but the problem persists. Replacement rail covers show the same tendency to separate within days of installation. Given the widespread nature of this defect and growing owner dissatisfaction, I respectfully request that NHTSA review and address this matter. A more robust solution is needed immediately to ensure the safety and reliability of these factory-installed components for all affected vehicles.
