1 Brake Disc Caliper problem of the 2014 Toyota Tacoma

Failure Date: 03/08/2018

I purchased this vehicle, used, on 3-8-2018. Odometer was 65716. Because of brake (pulsation & squeak) and tire balance issues, asked the Toyota dealer to repair prior to purchase. "the technician completed four wheel brake inspection. Technician turned front rotors and cleaned pads. Lubed, and cleaned caliper and slices. " problem was not solved. I took vehicle to another repair shop in August of 2019 replaced rotors, pads, adjusted left rear brake and balanced wheels. Problem still not solved. Current odometer is 74869.

2 Brake Disc Caliper problem of the 2015 Toyota Tacoma

Failure Date: 12/09/2015

Sitting at a dead cold stop. After approximately 3 minutes - brakes just released with me standing on the pedal - allowing me to roll into the vehicle in front of me. My vehicle impacted the rear of the vehicle in front of me at approximately 5mph. I was literally screaming and standing on the brake pedal - zero effect. I felt no loss of hydraulic pressure or mechanical feedback through the pedal at anytime. It's as if the calipers all just released with me on the pedal the whole time.

3 Brake Disc Caliper problem of the 2006 Toyota Tacoma

Failure Date: 01/01/2010

Hello I have a 2006 Toyota Tacoma and I have taken it to the Toyota dealership twice for loud clacking sounds coming from the brakes every time I use the brakes. The dealership tells me that this sound is normal but I know better as I have never had a vehicle that sounded like this before and I also am some what of a mechanic. The clacking sound is coming from the brake caliper hitting the mounting bolts and as any one with a brain knows that metal hitting metal over and over will either break the bolts or eventually wear through the bolts. I purchased this vehicle used as a Toyota certified vehicle with 48,000 miles on it. The brake pads are not even close to being worn out and this issue is not with wear of brake pads but it is an issue with the mounting of the break calipers them self. Toyota may not have a problem at this moment with this but you better believe that the problem is right around the corner and some one needs to get them on it now before this starts causing wrecks.

4 Brake Disc Caliper problem of the 2008 Toyota Tacoma

Failure Date: 05/10/2009

I have a 2008 Tacoma 4wd. I have had both front brake calipers replaced because of rattling in the front end. There is a inconsistent braking when braking and going over bumps. Going into parking lots with bumpy entrances, over railroad tracks. It acts like the abs is activating. But when it does you lose braking control. I thought that replacing the brake calipers would correct this problem but it has not.

5 Brake Disc Caliper problem of the 2002 Toyota Tacoma

Failure Date: 03/05/2008

The contact owns a 2002 Toyota Tacoma. While driving 45 mph, the front brakes detached from the pads and became jammed between the rotor and the caliper. A portion of the brakes struck the front fender like a bullet. The contact called Toyota, but they would not assist. He repaired the vehicle himself and stated that he was taking his vehicle out of service for safety reasons. The VIN was unknown. The failure mileage was 38,000.

6 Brake Disc Caliper problem of the 2005 Toyota Tacoma

Failure Date: 07/27/2006

I recently opened a corporate case against the Toyota of stuart dealership. This is not the first incident that I have had with them, but this is the most recent. On July 26, 2006, I noticed some grease all inside the rim of my tire. I brought the truck into the dealership. I talked to the service department to try and explain the problem. I was told, we know what it is, we will order the rear seals and call you when they come in. No one looked at my vehicle!!! I was told to leave and I would get a phone call. On July 27, 2006 at 10:30 am while in a left hand turn, I applied the brake lightly at a speed of approximately 30 mph. The truck very quickly spun around and backwards into a guard rail. I called the dealership and was told to bring the truck back to them. They assured me that because of the grease on the wheel and being made to think that it was safe to drive, that the dealership would take care of the damage to the vehicle. This happened, fortunately on a road with minimal traffic, not on I-95. I often think about what could have happened if I was driving on the highway. I could have seriously injured myself, or someone else. I could have had my 5 year old in my vehicle going to camp. Anything serious could have happened. Fortunately, it did not. After bringing the truck in and many phone calls and trips to the dealership, I was told after two weeks, by the manager of the dealership that I needed to call my insurance company. This was so my insurance would pay for the damages. This is totally wrong. I could have been seriously injured or even worse! if they would have checked my vehicle, it would have been deemed unfit to drive. I am not a mechanic. Now the dealership wants my $500. 00 deductible payment. You have got to be kidding me! I must say, I am very sorry that I bought a Toyota vehicle. If I had to do over again, I would not do so. This is a terrible way to treat a customer.

8 Brake Disc Caliper problem of the 2002 Toyota Tacoma

Failure Date: 06/06/2003

The brakes vibrate upon decreasing speed from 60 mph or more. The longer driven, the necessary speed for vibration decreases to lower speeds. The problem intensifies the higher the grade is on any downhill. I have replaced pads twice and rotors once. As I begin to replace the calipers, I find that there is a recall for those on the tundra and a list of consumer complaints about Tacoma's brakes.

9 Brake Disc Caliper problem of the 2002 Toyota Tacoma

Failure Date: 05/13/2003

The brakes on the right side of my Toyota Tacoma pickup are dragging making is difficult to steer. When Toyota dealership pulled the wheels off the truck and checked the brakes there was significantly more wear on the front right break pads then the left side. I had the breaks replaced and kept the worn out brakes for your inspection. It appears the right-side caliper failed making it hard to steer and causing the brakes on the right side to wear out in less than 15,000 miles. Toyota says this is normal even though this is a major safety hazard.
