2008 Toyota Tacoma pickup truck- I was wearing a pair of steel tip workboots when I was pulling into a parking space at a convenience store. I hit the brake but the brake pedal when actuated is closer to the floor than the top part of the gas pedal. With steel tip work boots being worn which are wider than street shoes I actuated the brake and gas pedal at the same time. The truck shot forward in the parking spot and hit a tubular pylon filled with concrete. This is the only thing that kept the vehicle from crashing into a person or building. Damage to vehicle has been estimated @ $ 1,170. 00.
Soft brakes on my 2007 Toyota Tacoma. It seems that the truck not responding to braking as you try to stop. I had a couple of close calls but luckily no accidents. I searched on the internet to see if others are concerned about the brakes on these trucks and it turns out to be a major issue. Car and driver magazine reported the same problem in there February 2007 issue. I believe that these brakes could cause injury and it should be investigated.

2006 Toyota Tacoma took to dealer. Brakes extremely spongy. Almost had accident on two occasions, vehicle would not stop. Technician at dealership checked brakes ,stated he could not duplicate. I took the technician on road test to demonstrate condition. He stated brake fade shown was normal, because I do not agree because of near accidents experienced by me.

This is not a failure, but something I see as a safety issue. . When I am stopping at a stop light/ stop sign and am in driv with the air conditioner (a/c) on the truck will surge forward and I have to push the brakes down harder. This only happens when the a/c is on, and seems to come from the increase in engine rpms when the compressor kicks on. This is very unsafe and could cause me to rear end someone.
Bad brakes on a 2007 Toyota Tacoma 4 by 4.
December 16, 2006 - clear sunny day, great road conditions. I was 40 feet behind a vehicle going 35 mph when a SUV slammed on brakes. My 2004 Toyota prerunner brakes went to the floor and my truck would not stop. After hitting the SUV and coming to a stop, I released my foot from the brake and the pedal went back to it's normal position.

Applied brake pedal as I approached an intersection with a red light and could not stop, causing my vehicle to rear end a stopped vehicle. My vehicle also picked up acceleration when I applied the brake a second time. I had to shut the vehicle off in order to stop it from climbing up the rear of the vehicle ahead of me. Police officer at the scene verified this observation afterward indicating a mechanical problem and noted same on the police report. My brand new vehicle was purchased less than two weeks before this accident, towed back to the dealership after the accident and remains there awaiting an inspection by the manufacturer.
Purchased new 2004 Toyota Tacoma on 1/24/05. At 1,577. 8 miles, right rear brake drum and wheel covered with gear oil. Repaired at Toyota of greenfield, MA. 01302, phone 413-772-0231 2/17/05. Contacted dealer again on 6/29/05 at 9085. 1 miles. Vehicles was picked up on 7/11/05. Tries rotated on vehicle on 9/26/05 at 17,266. 4 miles. Found oil on brake shoes and inside of brake drum severely glazed. New case filed on 7/28/05 case # 2005-0926-1574 with salvadore. I am still driving a vehicle with the integrity of the braking system is compromised. And have not received a reasonable resolution to this problem from Toyota motor company. Is it a common practice for an auto maker to let a consumer knowingly drive an unsafe vehicle. Unfortunately I am still paying on a brand new vehicle that I do not feel safe driving. The regional field service technician, joe lacefield from Toyota motor company has been unavailable by phone for the last week 1-973-464-0938. I would like my money returned for this vehicle in full. I feel that I have been more than patient in trying to resolve this matter with Toyota motor company. V. I. N. # 5tewm72n54z372584.

Abs brakes locked repeatedly. When problem reported to the dealer, they found nothing wrong. Then, while trying to come to a sudden stop, the right brakes locked, pulled the vehicle right until it rolled over.
When pulling into a turning lane went to apply the brakes and the pedal went all the way to the ground , then l tried to press the brakes again the brakes still did not respond. Then, third time the rear end brakes just simply locked up, rear ending a mercedes 30mph. Then, the truck went to the side and lightly hit another Toyota truck, niether sides off my air bags deployed and my truck received heavy front clip damage and heavy side damage, l was left with no way to get to work , since then the truck has been repossed and lm being sued appross. 30,000 dollars. L still thank god im ok and so was every body else.
Poor abs brake performance, in wet conditions only, extended stopping is experienced.
S10 appropriate handling re Toyota throttle control problem fm owner of a 2006 Toyota Tacoma truck. The consumer stated twice within the past year, he experienced sudden acceleration. In both instances, his foot was on the brake and he was moving less that 5 mph. Both times, the vehicle surged forward as the abs activated, and the front of the vehicle impacted the garage wall. The consumer believed the problem involved the electronic control system that activated and operated the abs and throttle. He noticed that the abs tends to activate too often and too early, even in dry conditions.
When coming to a complete stop the driver would press on the brake pedal, but the vehicle would surge forward.
Consumer complained about a brake problem. When brakes are applied, there is vibration if consumer's foot is on brake pedal, and vehicle does not stop. Driver must push the brake pedal down a second or third time to get the vehicle to stop.
