1 Steering Is Tight problem of the 2013 Toyota Tacoma

Failure Date: 02/01/2020

Steering is very tight due to poorly made u joint on the intermediate steering shaft. Was quoted $460 by Toyota to replace. I feel like this safety issue should be rectified free of charge through a TSB or recall.

2 Steering Is Tight problem of the 2003 Toyota Tacoma

Failure Date: 08/20/2019

Power steering pump having issues I can fill it up to the full line and it will go down to half empty everytime I've done it therefore steering is very tight and difficult, the truck bed has huge holes rusted/corrosion completely through it on both sides, the spare tire mechanism is rusted so badly it doesn't work and half of it is missing due to rust/corrosion an has fallen off, and the frame broke completely in half on the driver side of the truck while I was driving it an caused the drive shaft to hang on the ground and it knocked a hole in the gas tank before I could get the truck stopped, also the suspension on the rear of the truck is not attached to the frame on the top under the bed just attached to the frame on the bottom.

4 Steering Is Tight problem of the 2013 Toyota Tacoma

Failure Date: 12/13/2018

The steering in my Tacoma has suddenly become stiff. It began 3 days ago and has gotten worse. The truck is handling poorly. The steering feels tight at all speeds. I have not solved the problem as yet but have been lubricating the universal joint at the bottom of the steering shaft. It feel similar to the same problem I had with my 2005 Tacoma. The steering shaft universal joint should be designed as a sealed unit and ability to grease it.

7 Steering Is Tight problem of the 2007 Toyota Tacoma

Failure Date: 07/24/2014

On or about July 24, 2014, I noticed while pulling out of my driveway that my 2007 Toyota Tacoma trd extended cab with 62830 miles that the steering was quite hard to turn. But the problem seem to go away after a minute. This then continued to happen intermittently at various speeds for the next couple of weeks until I had near collision while driving out of town in new jersey. While proceeding at an intersection at about 20 miles per hour and turning with multiple vehicles paralleled to me, I nearly swiped another vehicle on my right. This was because my steering became very stiff which made it very hard for me to turn the wheel. Driving my Tacoma had now become dangerous and I couldn't take any more chances. The next day I called Toyota dealership and set up an appointment to take my truck in for the following day. When I drop-off my vehicle, I incated to the attendant that the intermediate steering shaft my be the culprit. This was because in doing some research I discovered that the same thing had happened to a multitude of people who own a Tacoma. Well my vehicle was repaired, with the root of the problem being the intermediate shaft. A repair that cost me $579. 00 since as part of the repair they had to do a wheel alignment.

8 Steering Is Tight problem of the 2007 Toyota Tacoma

Failure Date: 07/21/2014

Steering is hard, binding up at several points in a 90 degree turn, and then the wheel does not recover automatically as turn is completed. It would stay in the "turned" position if I did not manually return the steering wheel to the "straight" position.
