Both passenger seats by controls plastic cracking. Infotainment center blacks out and marker bars and back up lines for both back up and front parking have disappeared. Gps even when linked to my phone screen will black out but phone gps will still work. I have complained about this multiple times. Toyota did a factory reset on it and didn’t fix the issue took it back and a tech had to re-install program said the infotainment center has a known issue where it forgets the program. I also informed Toyota about the engine seems to be really sluggish when at a complete stop and then start again taking a few seconds to go along with shifting hard from stop and go. Toyota did say they saw what I saw and this usually happens when people double foot pedals. I told them I don’t do that. I am frustrated and don’t know what to do I have a 72k truck that just turned 17k miles on it with a lot of issues what will I have to deal with down the road once the warranty is up? I love Toyota but this time seems like I got a lemon from Toyota with all the issues and continued rising issues.

The tailgate will not go down when you push the bottom that is on the tail light or when you push the button inside the truck it will not go down. It makes the noise like if it is going to but gets stuck.

Intermittent message displaying "trailer brakes disconnected" while towing. Trailer lights continued to operate even while message was displayed. On average trailer connected and disconnected every 2-3 minutes.

The contact owns a 2025 Toyota Tundra. The contact stated that while the tailgate was closing automatically, her grandson's finger was at the upper closing point of the tailgate; however, the tailgate continued to close. The contact's husband put his body weight on the tailgate and was able to stop the tailgate from closing. There was no injury sustained. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where the contact put her hand at the upper closing point of the tailgate while the tailgate was closing automatically, and the tailgate stopped closing as designed. The dealer informed the contact that they could not fix the tailgate failure to stop closing when a smaller hand or object was within the closing point. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 1,300.

The hood “open” sensor failed and indicated that my hood was not properly latched. The hood was latched properly. This resulted in a loud, distracting, and constant beeping that occurs anytime the vehicle is driven over 2 mph. This beeping has the potential to interfere with the driver and may result in an accident.

Keep getting the messages "trailer brake error, if towing come to a stop with manual controls" and "pre-collision system malfunction" the messages go away usually after restarting the vehicle but eventually comes back on.

Front active spoiler malfunction last week I took the vehicle into Toyota due to this malfunction message on the vehicle. The spoiler failed and remained in the down position, unknowingly causing additional damage to the spoiler flap. It was determined that the motor assembly was not working and needed to be replaced. The motor, flap and related assemblies were replaced under warranty by the dealership on 07/17/2025. Within 2 days, the spoiler was stuck in the down position again, this time without the malfunction message on the vehicle. With this being stuck in the down position, it can potentially cause more damage to the vehicle being in the down position and lead to debris in the roadway depending on the damage. Toyota manual states to avoid driving the vehicle at high speeds when this issue is present. However, owners with this issue would not know there is an issue if the vehicle is not presenting an error while functioning improperly. The vehicle is scheduled to be looked at again tomorrow 07/22/2025, at corwin Toyota of colorado springs.

The contact owned a 2024 Toyota Tundra. The contact stated while the vehicle was parked in front the detached garage, the vehicle caught on fire and the incident was caught on the neighbor's camera at 4:31 am. The neighbor then informed the contact of the incident. The contact noticed that the vehicle had caught on fire and the fire was mainly coming out of the gas pillar area. The contact stated that the entire vehicle had burned to the ground. The fire was extinguished by the fire department. A fire department report was filed. No police report was filed. There was no injury sustained. The vehicle remained at the scene and was in the process of being totaled by the insurance company. The dealer was notified of the failure and provided vehicle rental assistance. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that it would take up to 30 days for a field investigator to inspect the vehicle. Additionally, the contact was informed that it could take up to 45-60 days to determine whether there was liability. The failure mileage was approximately 13,900.

The truck has a hesitation or lag at stop signs every day, every stop sign it's like the transmission doesn't know what to do and doesn't shift into 1st unless you come to a complete stop for several seconds. Hit the throttle and nothing is happening. Even more scary thing that has happened about 8x so far is when you are stopped at an intersection and either need to wait for traffic to proceed across the road or if you are at a stop sign and waiting to merge into flowing traffic the truck will let you accelerate into traffic but then the throttle just goes dead. You can push the gas pedal all you want and the truck is just dead in the water for several seconds. Motor stays running and everything the throttle just wont work and you have to be very careful because when it suddenly comes back on if you have the pedal down to the floor it'll suddenly give you full power. It has almost caused me to get tboned 3x now and almost rear ended and then people are screaming at you and creating road rage because they think I just pulled out and stopped on purpose. I've gotten to the point I go to stop lights because I don't trust the truck to merge into flowing traffic. It feels to me like the crash avoidance is sensing something and cutting throttle but it doesn't beep or set off anything indicating that's what's happening. Dealer just always says they can not duplicate the issue. I'm going to mark 7/8/25 as the date that it's happend as I have that one written down but it did happen as recently as last week also I just don't remember the exact date.

I continue to get this message on my dash while driving and no one in front, on side or behind my vehicle: *foreign object speed acceleration reduced. *radio know broke a second time *windows stutter when going up or down while wet *windows rattle *poor acceleration at take off ( very dangerous on the expressway).

Whenever it rains in dfw, vehicle emits a foul/musty odor from the hvac system. Only happens when it rains. Hvac setting has always been the same, "lo" temp, ac mode on, recirculation mode on, fan speed varies. Taken vehicle to two different dealerships and techs unable to duplicate. It doesnt rain much here in TX so it is hard to get it taken care of while still within warranty. My family and I use this vehicle primarily and I am concerned for my kids' lung health as they are [xxx], [xxx], and [xxx] years old as of writing. On may 20th, 2025 I was traveling in my 2022 trd pro Tundra 5. 5 hv. I was taking a left turn at a green light, when all of the sudden lights appeared on my dash saying “hybrid system malfunction, visit your dealer”. The car continued to function for approximately 1 minute, until the next light where it turned off. I tried to turn the vehicle back on, but it started to shake when it tried to start. At this point I was stuck at the light with traffic behind me, the engine had failed and the hybrid system had failed as well. I had to call 911 and request an officer to come assist, because I was blocking traffic. The vehicle had to pulled to a lot where I could unhook my boat that was in tow, and tow the truck to the beaver Toyota dealership. After arriving at the dealer and being there for over a week, I have been informed that they will be preforming a short block rebuild, because my truck is not listed in the 2022-2023 Toyota Tundra recall. Even though my truck experienced the same engine failure due to debris in the engine as all the 2022-2023 Tundras. My specific truck was not included in this recall because Toyota says the hybrid system would be able to move my car to a safe position if there was an engine failure. This was in fact not true because my hybrid system malfunction at the moment of the engine failure resulting in me stuck in the middle of the road blocking traffic having to call the police. Toyota needs to include trd pro hybrid owners in the 2022-2024 full block recall or face extensive legal action.

Reverse light not working properly unable to clear see while reversing.

The truck has a very pronounced hesitation to accelerate after slowing down or coming to a stop. Example: slow down, come to a stop at a stop sign and then accelerating to start moving. This situation happens daily and almost on every occasion after slowing or stopping. It has gotten worse over time and this issue has put me and my family in very dangerous and scary situations as the truck does not accelerate promptly and oncoming traffic is getting closer. It really has made me concerned to drive my truck and feel unsafe doing so, especially with my family.

The contact owns a 2024 Toyota Tundra. The contact stated that the rearview camera displayed a frozen image or a black screen while the vehicle was in reverse(r). The contact stated that the failure obstructed the driver's visibility, which prevented the driver from safely operating the vehicle. In addition, the infotainment screen failed to function as intended. While the contact was using the hands-free phone, the call occasionally disconnected. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where the contact was informed that the hands-free phone disconnecting was due to the cell phone service. The dealer updated the software. The contact stated that the failure persisted. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer; however, the vehicle was not inspected or diagnosed. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact stated that prior to the failure, the tires on the vehicle showed inner sidewall damage. The tires were not replaced. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The manufacturer contacted the dealer, but no assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 4,000.

I am experiencing a recurring issue with my 2024 Toyota Tundra’s fuel gauge. Specifically, when the vehicle is parked on an incline, the fuel gauge resets to indicate a full tank, regardless of the actual fuel level. For instance, after parking on a hill with approximately half a tank, the gauge displayed full upon restarting the vehicle.

What component failed and is it available for inspection? the front driver-side roof seam on my 2022 Toyota Tundra developed corrosion under the paint and eventually opened enough for rainwater to enter the cabin. Water drips directly into the a-pillar area onto the side curtain airbag wiring, squib connector, and padded harness. It also reaches the dashboard and electrical buttons near the steering wheel during rain. The roof seam, a-pillar wiring, interior rust staining, and all affected components remain available for inspection. How was safety put at risk? the a-pillar contains the srs curtain airbag system, its wiring, and connectors that should never be exposed to moisture. Continuous water intrusion over many months can cause corrosion, increased resistance, short circuits, or damage to the airbag inflator/squib circuit, which may lead to unintended deployment or failure to deploy in a crash. Water reaching the dashboard controls and electrical switches could cause intermittent electrical faults or malfunction of driver controls. These issues present a significant safety risk because the vehicle’s airbag and electrical systems may not function as designed. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed? yes. The Toyota dealer has repeatedly observed the active leak, interior rust streaks, and bubbling/corrosion along the roof seam. The water intrusion occurs every time it rains. Has the vehicle been inspected? yes. Toyota has inspected the truck multiple times, including by a field technical specialist. However, Toyota has been unable to provide complete documentation or photos from the fts inspection, and the underlying safety issue remains unresolved. No inspections have been done by police or insurance. Warning lamps or messages? no warning lamps appeared. The first symptom was water leaking into the cabin around March 2024, followed by rust streaking inside the a-pillar and exterior bubbling. The issue continues during rainfall.

Radar system and traction control shuts off during normal operation and requires vehicle to be pulled over and turned off then back on to regain control. This causea a loss of forward collision warning, brake assistance, traction control, and lane departure assistance.

Fuel gage will randomly reset itself to full when the tank quantity is less than full or fuel gage will not reset to full after the gas tank is filled. A manual reset of the computer is required to force the gage to reset to an accurate reading. Driver is at risk of running out of fuel due to the gage overstating the quantity of fuel remaining. Numerous reports of this situation are found on youtube along with instructions on how to manually reset the software to force the gage to reset. Gage has malfunctioned 4 times in less than two months. Dealer could not find an issue with the system and requires the vehicle to be brought in during the malfunction. Issue started around 8000 miles and 22 months after initial delivery to owner.

On February 25, 2025, I took my 2023 Toyota Tundra VIN# [xxx] to stokes Toyota beaufort, SC, for its 45,000-mile service. Just 300 meters after leaving the dealership, my truck caught fire, causing significant damage and putting my safety at risk. I am sharing pictures of the incident and the warning messages I received on the dashboard. I was on my way back to the dealership when this happened. At first, the truck was shaking and losing power. I managed to make a u-turn to return to the dealership, but then the engine stalled. At that moment, I started seeing warning messages on the dashboard. I immediately called the dealership to inform them that I was experiencing issues with my truck. While still on the phone with the dealership, I noticed smoke coming from the passenger side of the hood. Moments later, flames started emerging from the hood. I quickly hung up and called 911. 1- what component or system failed or malfunctioned? I believe the engine and possibly the brakes failed (based on the dashboard warning messages). 2- how was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? within minutes, my truck burned completely. I am grateful I didn't have my children with me at the time. 3- has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? I received formal letters from Toyota manufacturer, Toyota distributor, and the dealership, stating that they are sorry for what happened but cannot offer any assistance with my claim. 4- has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives, or others? yes, the insurance company, fire marshal, dealership, Toyota, and engineering analysis associates (eaa) have all inspected the vehicle. 5- were there any warning lamps, messages, or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure? yes, the truck was shaking, losing power, and eventually stopped completely, displaying warning messages on the dashboard. The fuel gauge displays full tank even though the tank is quarter empty. The local Toyota dealership is unable to resolve this issue. The fuel gauge malfunction happens almost twice a month now.

From the start, I would say after a few months of having my vehicle I had ebs issues and after that I had my vehicle shut down while I was driving and go into limp mode at it said engine reduce power or reduce engine power and it has done that four times this last time it said reduce engine power and all mercy breaking systems failed. There was a knocking in the engine, like there was no oil in it and all collision malfunction sensors breaking systems everything malfunction and vehicle shut off and engine was rattling took to Toyota and they told me that it was a manufacturing issue, but there was no recall my vehicle never even said I was low on oil even though I just had an oil change. It never gave me any alerts. It would just randomly lose power to the engine and shut down but this last time it was really bad.

Headlights go out randomly usually when using turn signal. Because this happens at night all visibility is lost temporarily. This also confuses other drivers. I haven’t taken the vehicle to the dealer because the symptom is very sporadic and difficult to duplicate. Dealerships will not fix anything unless they can witness the issue. No warning lights or messages were displayed. This problem has been documented numerous times by many different owners on Toyota Tundra forums.

The contact owns a 2019 Toyota Tundra. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed on several occasions, the vehicle stalled. There was no warning light illuminated. The vehicle failed to restart and was towed to the dealer on two occasions. The dealer diagnosed that the fuel pump had failed and needed to be replaced; however, the fuel pump part #770200c170 was on backorder. The dealer reprogrammed the fuel pump system twice as temporary repairs; however, the failure persisted. The contact stated while driving 35 mph, the vehicle stalled. There was no warning light illuminated. The contact was unable to pull over to the side of the road. The vehicle failed to restart and was towed to the residence, where it was diagnosed by a mobile mechanic. The mechanic diagnosed that that the fuel pump was burned, causing the electrical connector part #9098010844 to burn and melt. The dealer was contacted and informed the contact that the electrical connector part had been discontinued. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that the vehicle was not covered under the factory warranty. The failure mileage was approximately 102,000.

Driving down the highway at about 75-80 mph and my passenger side mirror camera flys off lost to the highway.

This is my 4th time filling out this form. Fuel gauge and miles to empty will reset with the fuel gauge reading full and the miles to empty recalculating without putting fuel in the vehicle. My computer owners online account shows I have a fuel level of 153%. This truck has 2781 miles on it. The fuel gauge has reset itself 6 times in that mileage. Have now contacted Toyota customer fulfillment and now have a case number for the problem. My dealer then contacted me within an hour of getting that case number. Will now hopefully being getting closer to a solution.

The gauge fails to display the correct fuel level, especially when the fuel is below a certain threshold, which raises concerns about the accuracy of the reading and the overall safety of the vehicle. It will show full when really fuel is 1/2 tank.

Fuel gauge continues to reset to full with the miles to empty resting without putting gas in the truck. First reported to dealer and looked at on 7/12/24 with no solution. Second incident reported and truck left at dealer on 7/29/24. With no solution. 2 fuel gauge resets occured and reported to dealer on10/2/24 again with no solution except Toyota knows the problem but has no fixes. Last resetting of fuel gauge has occured on 10/9/24. I have been informed that other Toyota Tundra trucks have been into this dealership with the same problem of the fuel gauge resetting without putting any fuel in the truck. This vehicle should come with a reliable and working fuel gauge. This can become a hazard if running out of fuel. Dealership has now looked at this problem 3 times! 5 resets of the fuel gauge in 2315 miles.

Fuel gauge shows full after driving 120 miles.

The lens on the forward facing camera in the front grill cracked making the camera useless and in need of replacement. I first noticed the problem about a year ago. It is available for inspection. I can't see any damage around the camera that would have been caused by an object hitting the front of the truck which leads me to believe that the camera lens cracked because of a defect. The camera has not been inspected by the dealer however I have gotten a replacement estimate at the dealer.

Camera backup guidelines stopped displaying. Automatic mirror adjustment downward when shifting into reverse stopped working. Also unable to select different camera views.

All the cameras for parking and the driving lane assist failed while raining, the screen turned all green and started glitching, next day the truck was fine and this is the 3rd time, never got in an accident.

Fuel gauge will reset itself to full without filling the tank . Has happened on 3 occasions with only 1000 miles on vehicle. Have been to dealership but the explanation from Toyota is it happens due to elevation and direction in which the vehicle is parked. Problem has occurred for me twice when vehicle was parked on a flat surface after driving and once when parked on a slight incline after being parked overnight. Gauge does not return to normal after driving vehicle as it only moves down from full level. Toyota says situation may be due to location of fuel gauge sending unit in fuel tank. Dealership had vehicle for 3 days and replicated the situation. At this time I guess I will have to track road mileage to determine when to get gas and not rely on the fuel gauge. The dealership has been great, but has to rely on what solutions that corporate Toyota will supply them. Will continue to monitor the situation.
