Ten problems related to air bag light on have been reported for the 2010 Volkswagen CC. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
After a recall on airbag was done, two weeks later I took the car in because a airbag light came on. Was told its control module for pods all, which costs $2,357. 68. This module controls the airbags whether or not they go off in an accident. Well mine went out without ever being in an accident. The car only has 76k miles and vw told me it has nothing to do with the other airbag recall and that part is only covered until 36k miles. This super expensive safety issue should be looked at not be put upon a customer.
I had my clock spring replaced last year due to the recall, then my airbag light went on and my steering wheal started doing a clicking sound when I steer to the left or right all control panels on my steering wheel stopped functioning including the horn. I called Volkswagen and they said that they would charge me $150 to access the car, I told them about clock spring and they said that I would have to pay to get that fixed. I really don't find this fair that I have to pay to get something fixed that originally wasn't done correctly I think that they should take more responsibility for their workmanship. Also my seatbelt claps docent work I called them to see if this is something that they would fix being a safety issue and they said no. I think that all car companies should be responsible for seatbelt and airbag issues on a car. Not everyone has the money to replace seatbelt clasp and many people live day by day on there paycheck.
There was a recall in 2015 involving a clock spring in the steering wheel. Recall description: hair or other fibers may contaminate the airbag clock spring (a spiral wound, flat cable that keeps the airbag powered while the steering wheel is being turned). This contamination may tear the cable and result in a loss of electrical connection to the driver's frontal airbag. A loss of electrical connection to the driver's frontal airbag will prevent the airbag from deploying in the event of a vehicle crash, increasing the risk of injury. On February 29, 2016, vw did a recall repair by installing a cover over the clock spring. On November 22, 2017, I was driving and when I made a turn, I heard a pop in my steering wheel. My airbag light immediately came on along with an airbag error. I lost the use of my horn and the controls on my steering wheel, along with my airbag deployment. I made an appointment to have this seen about. I was told that I had to replace the clock spring for a fee of $877. 88. I questioned this because it was a recall issue and was told that the repair was covered for 12 months/12,000 miles (which ever came first) and it was out of warranty. First of all, the clock spring was not replaced, a cover was put on it. How do I not know that there were fibers in the clock spring before the cover was put on? I feel that vw took an easy way out of fixing a problem that could have serious issues later, which I am now experiencing.
The contact owns a 2010 Volkswagen Cc. The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 16v078000 (air bags), but the horn in the vehicle failed to operate. While driving 35 mph, the horn was depressed and failed to sound. In addition, the air bag service warning indicator illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed with an inoperable clock spring that needed replacement. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 76,000.
Clock spring recall recently my airbag light went on and when I make a turn with a steering wheel rotation of over 270* my horn will go off, I also only have intermittent use of the steering wheel controls to my instrumentation. There is a recall on the year and make of my car for the clock spring, however my VIN is not included. The signs point to a defective clock spring to which I lost the functionality of my airbag and the electronic functionality of my steering wheel. I called vw service department and they said my vehicle is not covered under the recall so there is no need to bring it in. I really don't feel safe operating this vehicle considering there has been an open recall involving the takata recall for well over a year. (vw told me that they will contact me when parts are available to fix). This happened when I made a left turn into a parking spot, the airbag light when on and it said "service airbag".

Hello, I have a 2010 vw Cc. My airbag light has come on and my horn and steering wheel controls don't work. Volkswagen does have a recall for the "clockspring" which would fix all this but my VIN is not covered under this recall even though some of the same cars and same year are covered. I called them and they said I would have to go get it fixed at a dealership and I would maybe get a refund. Since then my steering wheel light has came on and it is very hard to turn. I can't believe they wouldn't cover this. I would think airbag and horn are huge safety concerns and they already know that this parts fails. When I called Volkswagen customer service they lady could not help me at all other then saying there is another recall for the airbag but they don't have a fix yet so there's nothing they can do. I at least would like my airbag and horn to work, right? also, I asked to speak to a manager twice and both times I was put on a 10 minute hold only for her to come back and say "my manager told me to tell you" both times. No help at all. I truly hate Volkswagen and their customer service. Any help or direction would be much appreciated. Thank you - benjamin r.
Driver's airbag light is on and horn not working after started my car.
