Failure Date: 02/20/2008

Abs and asr systems have failed - each has its own dashboard warning light, which is on. Dealership diagnosis: faulty abs controller/pump module, $1,025 to repair. Vw has an abs recall, #02v031000, which covers 2000-2002 new beetle, golf/gti, jetta. Dealership claims my vehicle is not covered.

2 Brake Electric Antilock problem of the 2003 Volkswagen GTI

Failure Date: 12/09/2004

The consumer was traveling 40 mph, but when he attempted to apply the brakes, the pedal went to the floor. The consumer was unable to maintain control of the vehicle and rear ended another vehicle. The driver's side air bag did not deploy, but the passenger side did deploy. The driver sustained head injuries. The consumer refused to go to the hospital.
