The asl (automatic shift lock) on my 2002 Volkswagen Jetta malfunctions, keeping my car locked in park or neutral. This has happened before, I was told it was fixed, and it has happened again. I missed work and blocked traffic the first time, and I'll have to miss work again and I'm parked in a temporary parking zone this time. So far nothing has been done to correct the failure.

The cars transmission did not lock in the park position and rolled in the curb just missing another car. The automatic transmission safety(for the park position) lock failed and will not allow me to place the car in park.
The safety feature keeps car from being shifted out of park. Third time for repair.
The multi-shift switch that changes the gears automatically while the vehicle is being driven at 60 mph, shifted the vehicle into the 3rd gear, causing a powerful downshift in the speed. Dealer has been contacted.
