I bot w/ only 40,000 miles approx. I drive alot. Its about 70,000 now. One tire sensor is out and the person at frirestone said theyll go out again and its hard to know which tire it is. The ele trical is a mess. I finally took it to my mechanic. It is defnitely electrical. This car is not a good value as everything breaks on it and I dont speed and add additives and b\'baby" it. I'm 62. It has to last. But it is not. I see theres recalls for it concerning eleectrical, yet the dealer says no never ha da recall. The night half my lights went out was after thanksgiving as I was traveling the grapevine in cal. I was lucky not to be in an accident.

I just bought a used 2017 Volkswagen Jetta gli a month ago, and the airbag light just illuminated this past Friday, along with no steering wheel controls working, and no horn. I called the place where I purchased it from, and they pretty much said OH well. This is a safety concern, as it affects the airbag. Is there anything I can do?.

Driver side of my Jetta lighting went off , I went online to see what can be wrong with it and I see many people having the same problem, thats unsafe, should be recalled, its not a fuse or light bulbs ,so its the wire in, I think this is no safe to be driving and should be check , like I say its many people having the same problem, thanks.
Horn only occasionally works when honking and/or locking car, which increases the risk of a crash since I can’t always use my horn to alert other drivers of presence. One front headlight only occasionally works (lightbulb is not the issue), which increases the risk of a crash since other drivers may not be able to see me as well & I am not able to see the road as well in the dark. Cruise control does not work at all, which increases risk of speeding and therefore increases risk of crash. Dealer has inspected horn/headlight issue but could not determine cause. No warning signs. Issues first appeared a couple years ago.

Head lights are on when temperature is cold. It happens every time and killing the battery. I believe the issue with light switch because when I unplug it at night from the car and re-plug the light switch in the morning, it all works without any issue.
After exiting the freeway and got to the overpass I had to stop, after a accelerated the engine shut down, lost all electrical power except for the radio, fortunately after the overpass was a downgrade so the car was able to coast to safety on to the shoulder. This has not been the first incident where the vehicle has lost complete power while driving in city streets. This is my wife's car, she had complained to me of the car not starting after she gotten off work, we tried to jump started it and it still would not start, so it had to wait till I got off from work. Soon as I got to the vehicle after my shift, I tried to crank start it and the vehicle started with out hesitation. While driving in the city street, after making a stop the vehicle engine shut off, I was unaware since the radio was still playing, so my wife pointed out this had been happening to her as well, even after we replaced the battery. So I took the vehicle to my mechanic and he mentioned that this could be an alternator problem, so we replaced the alternator as well, but the vehicle continues to shut down or it just won't start. I decided to check the wiring to the battery and to the distributor and after doing this the vehicle will start up again. Last episode was on 11/15/2019 as I exited the freeway on my way to work. When I got home I remembered that my wife had handed me a couple of latters from the vw dealer witch we had omitted since we bought the vehicle used in a car lot. This is how I found out that these letters where notices of the recalls on this particular vehicle. I shared this with a friend that claims he also had the same problem with a vw vehicle he owned, he explained that the problem in his unknown vw model, the electrical wiring was at fault. I'm scheduled to bring the vehicle in for a recall for the key column, witch is not associated to the problem according to vw rep.

Interior ambient lighting issue on 2019 Jetta gli autobahn: the ambient lights inconsistently light up during some starts. In some cases, none come on. In other cases, some # of the 6 zones will come on. Attached are pics where the driver side panel and center console lighting zones are off while all others are lit. I've taken it to the dealer twice without any resolution. The first time one led was out (in front of the shifter). At 4k miles, led lights should not be burning out. Other than that, the inconsistent lighting is still occurring sporadically, and the dealer states there are no faults detected, so nothing they can do.

The passenger side low beam went out. I replaced the bulb and it still didn't work. Then the driver's side low beam went out too. I tried replacing both bulbs at once, it didn't work. Then I checked the fuses, both under the hood and under the dash. The fuses are good. The high beams are good, the running lights, break lights and turn single lights are good. Just the low beams.
Low beams failed to turn on. Replaced the bulbs not too long ago and the bulbs are not burned out. All fuses are good. High beams work, daytime running lights work. Low beams are not functioning properly.
Tl- the contact owns a 2011 vw Jetta se w/ convenience 2. 5l auto federal. The contact stated that they are having the same failure as NHTSA campaign number: 11v196000 ( electrical system). No warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 76,223. Nd.
My horn and front right parking light both stopped working at the same time. I noticed there is a recall for the same make/model/year as my car, but my VIN is not included. I will need to have this repaired and pay for it, however, I do hope vw and NHTSA sees this is a problem and expand the recall to include more models.
The car initially had troubles when it would be hot outside it would and the temperature gauge would go high in temperature also if it was cold outside and you were driving slow temperature gauge down below safe temperature. After applying 2-5 bottles in a month the car started shuting down on its on . After an oil change in April, I experienced the most scary incident. . . While driving on freewaay I felt kerking a seen smoke from under the hood. I oulled in s gas station and let the car cool topk over 4hrs to do so. I had to drive back home on the streets and the car wpuld not stay at a stable heat. I had to stop my car in multiple unsafe area after'11 in the night. Now the car will not start unless give a jump for over an hour. Obly satys in for about a min the loses power all over again.

I have 2014 vw Jetta the car has horn problem and also some electrical problem. Horn sometimes working sometimes not. This is serious safety problem should be fixed. Dealer try to charge me the diagnostic fee and also repair cost.
When driving one evening, I noticed both low beams not providing light. My high beams work so I drove with them as to not drive in the dark. I was unable to see traveling on a highway at 65 mph. I had to use my high beams even with on coming traffic causing a safety issue for them also. When low beams are turned on, only a small light that does not prove any llight to see is on. I noticed this while driving. I have attached pictures of the all three light positions; day, low, and high.
The horn stopped working 1 week ago. I am also replacing bulbs every 2 months. I can't use my horn and the dealer is charging me a crazy fee to fix this. I am not the only one that's going through this.

The high beams stopped working. No indicator light on the readout, either. It was stationary. Bulbs aren't burned out, filaments are intact in both.
Takata recall - I am just giving notice that my airbags may be faulty and may need a replacement. Thank you very much.
January, the driver side head light stopped working while driving at night on the city street (replaced light). March, the passenger side head light stopped working while driving at night on city street (replaced light). June, both head lights stopped working within a month of each other, both while driving at night on residential roads (again, replaced lights). November, both lights stopped working shortly after I left work and was less than a block away, at night. After taking the vehicle in to the dealership, dealership reports no issues, but does acknowledge ongoing problem for other owners of the same vehicle type. I do not believe this to be a light bulb issue (as implied by the dealership's service department) and I am concerned for the safety of anyone who may also encounter this problem.
My sunroof exploded and my front right day light bulb had melted and now I have to replace the whole connector.
A few months ago , the driver side low beam light went off , with replacement and never turned on . Today the passenger side low beam light is off and won't turn on. The high beam lights work .
Day-time running light, right-side (passenger side) bulb burned out, however when the bulb socket was removed, the plastic material had signs of heat damage/plastic material damage and the bulb could not be removed from the socket. The socket and bulb will need to be replaced. There was no recall listed for this issue within the NHTSA, however, the heat damage within the bulb socket is a concern. Local vw dealer mentioned that there was no TSB or recall on this electrical part. Socket and bulb replacement cost from the vw dealer is near $40. 00.
Purchased 2011 vw Jetta car recently for my daughter. It drove ok for a short while but then lost power while driving. First the radio turned off, then several lights turned on on the dash and the steering became hard. Finally the car turned off. I managed to pull off the freeway. After this, it would not start. We tested the battery but it was not the problem. Replaced the alternator but that also did not work. Now I am reading about many other complaints on this same model by other owners. I respectfully request that this be investigated as a recall since there are too many complaints about electrical problems that should not be ignored. . Read more...

Premature burnout on the low beams. Replaced the bulbs 3 times in less than 2 years. Passenger side the first time, both the second time (9 months) and now the driver side again (6 months).
I have had nothing but issues with my 2005 Jetta since purchasing it a little over a year ago. The first issue was loss of power while driving, causing me to almost be struck by other vehicles while turning at intersections. Cause: the fuse box ontop of battery melted, along with the fuses and ground wire. Then the coolant resevoir had to be replaced. Due to the fans not turning on because of those fuses melting. Then, then radiator. Then the break pump, exaust manifold gasket blew. The thing recently wasni had no break lights. Went to change bulbs. Kept breaking the fuses. Then stuck in park. Saw a recall listed for faulty break switch. Called vw they stated my recal had already been serviced. So sorry it was up to me to repair the issue. Told them of every other issue. They said there was nothing they could do for me. Basically I bought a very unrealiable, unsafe, piece of garbage. That I assumed was completely opposite for myself snd my two small children to be dependant upon getting us safely place tonplace.

The contact owns a 2012 Volkswagen Jetta. The contact stated that the horn would not sound and the headlamps would not illuminate. The failures occurred without warning. The vehicle was not diagnosed, but the headlamps were replaced. The manufacturer was not notified of the failures. The approximate failure mileage was 95,000.
The low beams keep burning out. I replaced them and they worked fine. Last time I went to replace the passenger side low beam the bulb wasn't burned out. Changed it out anyway but the passenger side lowbeam still won't come on. I've changed the bulbs 4 times in this car already.
Both low beam lights went out at the same time. Checked all fuses none burnt. Changed the bulbs still out.
I had issues with the fuel system and air bag light on just started. But dealer carmax did not tell about any recall for the fuel system few years ago. But I just seen that in your system. Bought used car in September 2015 have had to replace low beams multiple time. Driver side low beam replaced once. Passenger side low beam have replaced 3 times. I have seen other Jetta's with the same problem.
I hit a tree on a city street and the airbag did not deploy that time either and I had a cut on my head I had injury to my knee and my achilles tendon both of which resulted in surgeries. I have had two other accidents since neither time neither I have had two other accidents since and the air bags did not deploy. Both of those were in parking lots. I am 84 and have fallen twice since the accident because of my injuries and sustained head trauma and memory loss. I will try to locate the accident date. It was in 2016.
Multiple lights suddenly quit working. Found the f16 fuse melted as well as fuse box where it sits. This is second time to replace fuse in 4 months, first time melted this bad.

Random exterior lights were nonfunctional with multiple dashboard notification errors. Took vehicle in for service and was told that a bad fuse and shorted out and melted the fuse box causing the problem. Fuse box must be replaced due to overheating of bad fuse. Repair place said this is a known problem with vws and certain models had already been issued a recall.
