Upon entering an on-ramp and also accelerating around a turn, experienced no response to depression of gas pedal. Basically car had serious lag before taking off. Worried about safety issue when trying to get out of someones way. Very unpredictable in occurance and do not want to have a wreck. Also experienced "stuttering" around 30 mph as if vehicle did not know which gear to get into. This happens frequently and creates a physical shutter of vehicle felt by driver and passengers.

The car stall while I was driving down amsterdam Ave in new york, NY. The engine puttered then a massive amount of smoke started coming from the exhaust. The smell was unbearable. I took it to two different mechanics and both stated that there was gasoline coming from the exhaust there could have been an explosion. I am glad that there was no explosion because I was driving my family home.

1999. 5 Volkswagen Jetta GLS vr6, always getting dtc codes of p1117, p0140, p1198, p1472, p1435, p0102, p0343, p1421. . That always says about open or short circuit conditions and poor electrical connections, and short to grounds for electrical, which is all electrical problems, if you search online them codes you will see numerous people with the same problems, and as well as alot of us have to buy the parts that is listed and problems still aren't fixed, which tells us its an electrical issue, not issues with the parts, which causes our #43 fuse blow alot, and alot of hesitation and stalling, I cant even turn around a corner or to get off the highway without stalling, please fix these problems, its happening to way to many of us and it is also an safety issue.

Tl- the contact owns a 2009 Volkswagen Jetta. The contact noticed rust in the fuel filter and pump causing the fuel system to fail. Also, the check engine light would illuminate then vehicle would suddenly stall without warning. The vehicle was taken to a dealer and the contact was awaiting a response. The manufacturer was aware of the failure. The current mileage was 35,700. The failure mileage was 35,680. The VIN was unavailable. Bw.
First time occured at approximately 42,150 miles. Car driving on highway in 6th gear with cruise control activated. Sudden loss of power and flashing check engine light, "engine fault workshop" displayed. Car can no longer reach highway speeds. Pulled over at next exit. Turned off car, checked under hood, no noticeable issues. Restarted car, no lights or warnings. Drives normal. Called dealer and brought in later the same day with 42,259 miles. They put it on the computer and found a TSB 2020606 for a software update. Drove vehicle out of dealer lot, got on highway approximately 5 miles from dealership in 6th gear around 70 mph and same issue with flashing check engine light and loss of power. Immediately brought the car back to the dealership with the flashing check engine light still on. They brought into the shop and were unable to find any issue. Performed another software reflash. Had to pay $102. 60 (one hour of labor, plus tax). This issue had been ongoing for months, through the summer with no resolution. Typically happens at highway speeds, but sometimes in 2nd or 3rd gear on local roads. Finally, in September with approximately 54k miles, car once again had issue on highway. This time, restarted, and a solid check engine light stayed on. Immediately called Volkswagen of America hotline and explained my issue, stated it was a safety issue and I'm concerned. They gave me a case number and told me to call the dealer. Dealer was able to get my car in later that day, and was able to pull codes for fuel system issue. Dealer took a fuel sample, found shavings in fuel canister, and got authorization to perform warranty repairs of entire fuel system from vw. They said my car would be fine to drive for now. One month later at approximately 57k miles bringing car in. Car continues to have issue, and almost caused an accident from power loss. Very concerning problem.
While driving home the vehicle went into a limp mode, once I made it home, the vehicle wouldn't start. I felt it wasn't getting fuel, so I decided to take it to the vw shop I bought it from. They called me a week later stating it is 6600 dollars in parts and 1600 in labor. I called vw customer care they finally decided to pay for parts. I have since paid the labor to repair the vehicle. After reading online the commonality of this problem seems the vehicle has an issue. What happens when it happens again I pay the full amount.
Vehicle lost power at highway speed. Further application of the throttle caused the transmission to second from fourth, causing the vehicle to rapidly decelerate from 70 to 40 mph, at which point the engine resumed normal operation. This happened several times in the span of an hour, and is entirely intermittent. Three vw dealers are at a complete loss for an explanation. The ecu does not return a fault code. This problem occurs completely at random, regardless of fuel level, incline, or throttle position. The only consistency is that it has never happened at a speed over 50 mph.

Car stalls out for no reason when shifting.
I understand that you are currently doing an investigation on the 2009 Jetta tdi for stalling issues. While my car is not a diesel, I have had similar problems. Three times now while driving my car has suddenly had the rpms shoot up and the car stalls out. I have brought it in to the service center all three times and given different reasons for this same issue, different fixes, and the problem remains. I use this car to transport my son and I long distances for our daily commute over the interstate. This car is not safe. Please look into the 2009 wolfsburg along with your investigation of the tdi. Something needs to be done and quickly. This has become a very frightening vehicle to be stuck with. It was purchased new and has only 28,000 miles. This is a manufacture defect. These problems should not occur on a two year old car.
The contact owns a 2010 Volkswagen Jetta. The contact attempted to start the vehicle but it would not start. Approximately twenty minutes later, the contact was able to start the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer where the contact was told that there was water in the fuel system. The vehicle was repaired. The failure and current mileage was 18,000.

1 recently purchased a (2011) vw Jetta at "chapman Volkswagen" in tucson, arizona. It seemed to run well the first day I drove it,but on the second day of purchase I made u-turn to proceed onto the highway and it mysteriously decelerated. I pulled the vehicle over as I was going onto the on-ramp and noticed that the low fuel light was lit. What stuck me as being most peculiar was that the regular fuel gauge was reading nearly half full. The vehicle did not stall and the gauge returned to normal functioning, but it left me with questions about the safety of the vehicle. I was wondering if other similar vehicles had similar issues and if they were resolved. The representatives at the dealership are not returning my calls and have offered no explanation for the incident.
The contact owns a 2009 Volkswagen Jetta. The contact was traveling 60 mph when the fuel filter light illuminated and the vehicle stalled. The vehicle was towed to an authorized dealer where the contact was informed that all three fuel filters had failed. The contact stated that the engine exploded. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure and current mileage was 40,600.
Loss of power on freeway, without warning. Vehicle lost power, then, while attempting to restore power by 'pumping' the accelerator, shifted into second gear, resulting in a very rapid deceleration from 70 mph to 45 mph. This occurred twice in one hour, at both times requiring following motorists to swerve severely to avoid.
Since the introduction of low sulfur diesel my injection pump has developed a leak ! possible fire danger.

2008 vw Jetta 2. 5l engine stalls and epc light illuminates.
The car chronically stalls in first or second gear in stop and go traffic, at very slow speeds or when coasting. When giving it gas and letting out the clutch, it just stalls with no warning. Have spoken with other Jetta tdi owners and they acknowledge same problem.
Totally rusted out area around gas intake pipe. Volkswagon Jetta 1998.

2009 Jetta with 7100 miles failed to accelerate and then died. This happened intermittently 3 times during a one week period. The car could be re-started after the failure but then died again. It acted as if it was not getting gas. I finally had it towed to vw dealership because I didn't trust that it would not do this while accelerating on the freeway. Vw determined that it had a faulty fuel pressure regulator.
Shortly after I bought car I noticed a noise coming from (sounded like) engine. I also noticed car not changing gears smoothly. Felt as if it was having a hard time shifting especially up hill, I took the car in and was told this is just how a vw shifts and sounds. I told them I did not notice it when I initially owned the car. They ran a diagnostic since now the engine light is on the windshield wipers come on at their own will, the clock looses time constantly, and the noise has got a lot worse and so has the gear shifting. The diagnostic they say showed the dual fans are both burned out. If they are burned out why are they still making a loud noise several seconds after I turn the car off? they have also told me no transmission problem exists but another dealer told me they cannot know that because the diagnostic will not pick up on a bad transmission only a totally failed one. Which the car will be out of warranty then. These cars have obvious transmission problems and electronic problems that are being ignored. After having all this problem I looked on internet and was astonished at the number of people with all the same problems as me. Slow and hard shifts, wipers, car acting as if it is stalling, clock losing time, battery going bad too quick. Brakes constantly bad. This car is just a lemon. Why will the government not do a total recall. There is tooooooo much wrong with tooooo many of them.

The latest incident with this 2004 vw Jetta is one in which everything electric stops working. No a/c, not lights, no blinkers, no windows, no horn - and there is a smell of smoke in the car. This first happened in January/08 and the dealership said it was wiring. Now it happened again! occurs just while driving along. Car smells like smoke and everything stops working. I get the runaround from the dealer, vista vw in pompano beach, FL. They always seem to find something wrong with the car now that is not under warranty. Please investigate this - there is something wrong with these Jetta's! I have found 100's of complaints on consumer sites about this car. I am tired of paying my hard earned dollars to the dealer when this is an issue with the manufacturer of this car. I advised the dealer of this when I took it in in January; his response was, too bad, you do not qualify for the car lemon law since the car is out of warrant and purchased it in Dec/05. Please do something for us consumers that are tired of being manipulated and overcharged for issues that should be the responsibility of the auto manufacturer. Please let me know if there is anyone other agency I can contact. I will not give up on this and hope you can assist me. Thank you.

My 2006 Jetta 2. 5 has an intermittent accelerator hesitation. It can occur when the engine is cold or hot. It seems to occur when it is rolling free at near 5 to 10 mph, and when the accelerator is pressed nothing happens for a second or two. Then it catches and goes.

2007 Jetta 2. 5l wolfsburg edition (5sp manual) with 9,500 miles abruptly loses power when revved to 3000 rpm followed by a solid yellow cel. Walk-in at dealer service, in and out 1 hour, they said diagnostic shows knock sensor was at fault and cleaned and replaced with original knock sensor. 200 miles later, same issue - no throttle response at 3000 rpm, followed by solid yellow cel. Dealer says ok to drive on, come in next apt. 5 days later. Car in and out same day, they cleaned both knock sensors and replaced with originals again. 300 miles later same problem - no throttle response, cel, etc. This time dealer replaced both kock sensors with new ones. The same issue repeats another 2 times. Dealer has been in touch with vw tech line since episode 3 because they tell me it is a "warranty issue". This same single issue has happened 5 times in total spanning 1,000 miles in 2 months. All repairs completed by language vw in schenectady, NY.

My 2003 Volkswagen Jetta's coolant pump failed while in traffic. This caused a reduction in power and engine overheating. Replacement was covered under warranty.
The contact owns a 2005 Volkswagen Jetta. The contact noticed a strong gasoline odor emanating from her vehicle. She took the vehicle to the dealer and they changed the air filter; however, the replacement was only a temporary solution. She took the vehicle back to the dealer because the smell intensified. The dealer was unable to determine the cause of the failure and could not repair the vehicle. The failure mileage was 23,635 and current mileage was 24,000. Updated 01/09/08. The cosumer was informed the smell was from the engine coolant. Updated.
Gas mileage on my vehicle has never been as good as posted on purchasing sticker.
While driving on highway the vehicle started bucking until no longer running. The car was towed to a service station, where they could not find anything wrong with the vehicle. The vehicle started a couple of hours later that day. The mechanic stated that it might be an electrical problem or the fuel.

My 2001 Volkswagen Jetta has always had a burning crayon smell and has been getting worse. My 2002 Volkswagen Jetta GLS turbo, 26,000 miles caught on fire in washington state while on the highway. I smelled gas while driving and pulled over opned hood and a fe seconds later a fire started. While on the phone with 911 there was a minor explosion and I received minor burns to the face and hands. Vehicle was towed 20 miles to karmart vw in burlington, wa. The next vw of America called and said they were investigating it. Three weeks later they called and denied the claim for repair or replacement. About $10,000 in damages. My insurance company allstate is involved and hired an engineer to investigate it. He determined it is most likely a factory defect. Vw denied to fix or replace the car becuase there no clamps present where the fire ocured. The hoses burned off about 3-6 inches. Allstate found the one of the clamps in the engine compartment. I think it rediculous that vw will not cover the damges or replace the car. What am I suppose to do with a 2 year car with major fire damage. I have lost total faith in the vehicle and don't want. I will have a hard time selling it with this kind of problem, who would want to buy car two olds knowing it was in a serious fire? what problems in the future due to this? I feel with my minor injury and being a new car vw should do something.
