Steering Problems of Volkswagen Jetta - part 2

About 5-6 times my steering locked up as I was mid turn but thankfully only for a second or two but a few of those times I was traveling at a high rate of speed on the highway in the center lane with cars on either side of me. Another time I was turning onto the highway and trying to beat the long line of cars that just got a green light and as I was mid turn my steering locked up and I fishtailed into the center lane almost into oncoming traffic. Had I been a more inexperienced driver neither of those times would have ended well.

Ignition key difficult to pull out from starter. Sometimes difficult to start car, but it can be wiggled in or out with some effort. Dangerous if it can get removed and engine continues working. Key can be reinserted to turn off. Sometimes difficult to start. Taken to local (tucson az) dealership and told that there is no vw recall for this issue. I believe there is a recall. Dealership refused to fix it. Not covered as part of warranty either. We had to pay to get it fixed. Dealership appeared not to know of existence of a recall for the ignition key problem. 1. It's not stable to drive in highway. Problem starts at around 55mph. 2. When I stop in traffic light suddenly rpm goes up and car jumps forward. It happened several times. The car was warm and in drive mode. I'm sure it shouldn't do this. Now when I stop in traffic light and pedestrian crossing in front of me, every time I put it to neutral and hold brake, in other ways just holding brake sometimes can not stop the car. Unable to turn car off and remove key while ignition is in park. Cause the car to continue to run while trying to wiggle key out. Unable to remove key after moving steering wheel back and forth, placing care in neutral will not help and placing the care back in park does not fix the issue. This seems to be a known common issue and proposes a safety issue if driver is unable to turn care off. I’ve had this experience at 9pm during a time where no mechanical help is accessible. Major safety issue of leaving a care running idle for extended period of time. Issue definitely needs to be addressed.

Driver side strut spring snapped. Car became undrivable and pulled to the left, body is very close to tire and spring could cause tire to blow out . Spring is rusted from the inside out car is at dealership for repairs no warning at all just a rattle then a loud snap.

This is the third time I've had issues with the power steering briefly failing on this car. The first time, several years ago, it was related to the abs recall, and it was replaced. It also failed when the alternator was going bad. Now the steering light flashes, it makes a beeping sound and the power steering fails briefly. It's not showing codes. I see from reading the vw tdi forums that this is fairly common problem. It's very frightening and I think there needs to be some kind of backup system on these cars so that the steering doesn't fail, potentially causing a lethal accident, whenever some related sensor goes out. Shouldn't they be completely separate ? thank you.

Both my front tires unraveled on separate occasions within a months timeframe on the inside wheel well. I was driving and I heard some loud noise and noticed the tire and when removed there was metal showing all along the inside of the tire and about a foot of unraveled rubber wrapped around the axle. This same thing happened a couple weeks later to the other front tire.

As I was driving home late last night from work on a city street , my car suddenly would not accelerate in speed while in motion but you can hear the car accelerate when I was pushing on the gas. It felt as if the car has turned off because then my steering wheel got hard was hard to move while in motion. Cause of problems is unknown but may not be safe to drive if it continues.

My lights failed abruptly. When driving my car pulls to the right.

The key will not start and then won't turn off. It gets stuck in the ignition and the wheel locks. The lock and not starting happens when stationary and the nototr is off. The not turning off the car happens when it's stopped but ignition cannot be turned off.

In the middle of driving on the highway, the car spontaneously shut down electrically, as if a fuse shorted, almost all dashboard lights turned on, the steering wheel locked up, and the brakes went unresponsive, nearly causing a collision. Once the car came to a complete stop, it was turned off in an attempt to regain control. After turning the car back on, the same dashboard lights remained illuminated, and the car wouldn't go more than 40mph, creating another accident risk during the remainder of the drive home.

My vehicle has been shutting off by itself. It first started while stopped at traffic lights, now it shuts off while I am driving.

Key was stuck in n the ignition in the on position. Could not turn the key either way. After several hours of the car running I was forced to head to my local vw dealership for repair. The cost to replace the inside of the ignition plus labor was $1,000.

Tl-the contact owned a 2017 Volkswagen Jetta. The contact stated while driving at 60 mph and vehicle went out of control. The contact lost control of the steering wheel and the vehicle slide across the street and hit a tree and a pole. . The contact had minor injuries but a passanger died in the crash. A police arrived at the the crash sceen and the contact did let recieve notice if a police report was filed. The vehicle's driver's side back door was smashed in from hitting the tree, the truck was damaged severly. . The front of the smashed in the middle from crashing into the pole. The vehicle was towed away to an impound lot for the police. An ivestigation just ended on 12/04/20 and the contact was waiting for the vehicle to be released so it could be declared totled by her insurance company. The dealer springfield mitsubishi313 baltimore pike, springfield, PA 19064 (484) 574-8434 stated they would need altter form the insurance company for a full financial settlement. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was 26,000. Tf.

Tl- the contact owns a 2007 Volkswagen Jetta. The contact stated that the key does not turned when its placed in the ignision switch causing the steering wheel to lockup. The vehicle was not yet taken to a dealer or an independent mechanic for a diagnostic testing. The manufacurer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 155. 000. Aw.

At highway speeds the vehicle will sway to the right and at times very abruptly going over or near the lane dividers without warning. The steering wheel remains straight but it feels like I'm driving with a strong cross wind the entire time.

I keep getting phone calls of vehicle recalls I have a 2013 Jetta se 2. 5. I do not timber the date of the recalls but I know there is another recall on my vehicle.

I turned my vehicle on and noticed that my head unit would not turn on. Screen was black. I checked the fuses and all the wires and everything was normal.

Abs and stability control became inoperative at around 50mph. It's a 55mph road thats heavily trafficked since its near a port. I had to stop the car on the side of the road since we almost crashed into an 18 wheeler. Fortunately we were close to home I drove the car at a reasonable speed just to get home. After that incident we have stopped using this vehicle since it gets even more dangerous every time, especially when it rains. Since then brake light has come on and hydraulic and suspension has been bad. This happened last year when pandemic was still full force and without a vehicle. Had to save and buy a more reliable vehicle for our own safety. I know this is a really good car but I really hope y’all can help me fix this since it’s really not the consumer’s fault. I’ve checked there is a recall for this but my “jetta” is not in those vehicles that were recalled. I really cant drive the vehicle therefore I have no use for it. Please let me know if something could be done since I wouldn’t like to pay out of pocket for something that could be done by the manufacturer and even save our and others life’s in the future when more vehicle owners come forward. The car seemed to have a suspension problem. Rotors and struts went out very fast on vehicle.

I have a 2017vw Jetta which suddenly �locks� as I am driving. My car suddenly starts reducing speed and the breaks become stiff. I see several lights flash on the dashboard, such as the epc light, tire warning lights, and motor light. After the matter, if I want to start the vehicle again, the break and shift stick become stiff and I can't start the ignition. I recall this happening to me one year after buying the vehicle but all I did was turn off the car and the lights went away. I was able to drive my car without that happening for a year or so and it happened again. Same thing, I would have to pull over, turn the vehicle off and wait for about 20-30 min for the vehicle to start. Yesterday this happened to me while driving to work. I was driving about 70mph on the freeway and I noticed my steering wheel became stiff and my car started reducing speed on its own. I no longer had control of the vehicle forcing me to pull over on the side of the freeway at a very low speed almost causing an accident. I had to wait about 15 min for my car to start and was able to get down of the freeway but it kept on happening on my way home and I had to pull over about 6 times waiting 10-15min each time for my car to start. I scheduled a service appointment with my local dealership so they can take a look at it and hopefully fix this problem. I believe this is a safety issue that needs to get addressed immediately.

My vehicle shuts off while driving and I see certain lights show up when this happens the I lose the control of the vehicle until it powers back on. Ive already ruled out the battery and alternator in the vehicle. I looked up recalls and though there is not one associated with my VIN there are recalls that are very similar to my issue that I have from December 15, 2016. When the vehicles electronics shut of the wheel locks making me unable to turn. When the electronics come back on I regain full mobility.

I was out today at a store and my epc light came on. I couldn't start my car.

The car lost power on a city street at about 40 mph then my son couldn't steer or brake. All dash lights were flashing so we have no idea what is really wrong. Trying to get off of the road he went into a ditch. The radiator was busted/leaking so he had to get his step father to come get it. I cannot afford the radiator to get it fixed at this time due to the note on it. It has done this to me in the past. I noticed the odd whining sound it makes when cranked was worse the day it happened to me. I was on the highway at 55mph so I stopped and about 10 minutes later cranked it and it made it home. We had it checked for codes and it showed no problem codes.

The wipers stopped working first. Then it got stuck n neutral and went into limp mode and I'm unable to drive it. Had to get a new gear shifter and after all that money spent it still isnt fixed.

I just bought a used 2017 Volkswagen Jetta gli a month ago, and the airbag light just illuminated this past Friday, along with no steering wheel controls working, and no horn. I called the place where I purchased it from, and they pretty much said OH well. This is a safety concern, as it affects the airbag. Is there anything I can do?.

I just purchased a 2019 Jetta r line and since day one I have a grinding noise coming from the transfer case or the transmission. It's always there at around 50km/per hour for about 2 sec. Like many others said it doesn't feel right for me. I hope vw will take action and do something about it. On top of that I lost all my radio presets and the screen has started to freeze. I also notice a knocking sound in the rear suspension over normal bump.

My car stalled on me 4 times between may 2018- December 2019. When the car stalls, the steering wheel locks and it feels like the entire car ceases to have power. 3 out of 4 times the car was in motion. 1 out of 4 times another car was hit due to the stall. In another 1 out of 4 times, there was almost a life threatening accident as the car was in motion, the steering wheel locked and I ended up on the opposite side of the road of traffic. Transportation canada has been notified of the safety concerns (I am located in toronto, on, canada and all incidents occurred in toronto). Volkswagen cannot determine the cause and have not provided a solution or a normal course of action to this safety concern. I am pregnant now and even more concerned. My car was bought brand new from the dealership in 2013 and has only been serviced at Volkswagen - it is in very good condition besides this reoccurring safety issue.

I suspect that my 2019 vw Jetta computer system/car was hacked/driven remotely on 12/3/2019 that caused an accident (photos attached) that led to my car being a total loss. I sustained injuries and was taken by ambulance to the local er from the accident. This case is still involved in court proceedings as of today. I was driving home and my car speed accelerated without me being on the gas and my breaks were not working. Without turning the steering wheel I drove off to the right hitting a parked car. The police report indicated that after impact with parked car #1, I rolled back 55 feet and hit another parked car on the opposite side of the street. I did not think any of this was possible until I was reading about car hacking and cars being driven remotely. I also did not think that it was possible with the �impact safety features� on a vw Jetta, I could possibly roll backward after the impact of parked car #1? I am looking to have this issue investigated. I am also sending information to the fbi internet crime complaint center.
