After owning the tires for 35000 miles the tires started to split on all four. Shaking was notice about a week before 5/22/21 when I got up to 65 miles an hour on the interstate. Tread life was good on the tires and the tire shop helped me get new ones. I had no warning and I rotated my tires every 4000 miles or so.

The contact owns a 2006 Volkswagen Jetta. The vehicle has continental conti pro contact, size 205/55r16 (na) tires. While driving 75 mph, the rear passenger side tire caused the vehicle to shake. The failure recurred with the front passenger side tire. The tire chord separated from the tire. The contact notified the dealer. The other two tires were about to fail as well, so she notified the continental manufacturer regarding replacement tires. Continental refused to replace the tires and advised her to call NHTSA to file a complaint. The current and failure mileages were 20,000.
My wife and I were driving on the highway going about 70 mph. I started to hear a strange noise and began to pull over. As I switched lanes there was a loud explosion and the front right portion of the car was scraping along the ground. I got the car to slow down and pulled over. When we got out to look what we saw amazed us. The entire steel belted radial had blown out of one section of the tire. It ripped through all the layers of the tire all at once. I feel very uneasy about the other 3 that remain.

My tire went flat while driving, when I realized what had had happened and found a safe place to pull over about a quarter mile later, by that time the tire had split completely around the entire tire on the outside and the inside. Thank goodness this happened just as I was merging on to the interstate, and I wasn't going very fast at the time. I was told later by the tow truck driver that these low profile tires split like that frequently by just driving a short while on it after it blows. I am very fearful of these tires now. (goodyear eagle rs-a 225/45r17. I was told my the manufacturer of my car vw that they didn't warranty tires on there cars. The local goodyear dealer told me that this tires didn't have a mileage guarntee, that the tires should go 50,000 miles. My car only had 24,000 miles on it. I am very disappointed in vw and goodyear and these tires. So much for so called performance tires.

Right rear tire blew out at freeway speed. Before coming to a stop the tire rubbed against the fuel tank that is made of plastic and wore a large hole in the tank. This could have caused a fire/explosion and loss of life. Poor design of the putting the plastic fuel tank so close to the tire. Volkswagen contacted and refused to acknowledge the poor design. New model vw Jetta does not have same design. ( dot number: mkhc tire size: 195/60hr14 ).
