I purchased my vw Jetta autobahn edition 6 speed manual transmission (build date of 07/19) on 10/06/2019. It was purchased new with under 10 miles on it and since day 1 when I drove it home, I have been experiencing excessive stalling in low speeds. The engine turns off without warning as I slow to a stop and happens with or without the clutch engaged and also when the vehicle is in neutral. All of the stalls have occurred while I have been driving on city streets and seems to be happening in the afternoons mainly and only after I have been driving for about 10+ miles but once the first stall occurs, the vehicle will stall again within 1-2 miles thereafter. On a single drive, it has stalled up to 5-6 times. I am also experiencing incorrect gear indicator. For example, if I am in 3rd gear, the vehicle registers that I am in 5th gear and vice versa. My vehicle has under 2k miles and is currently at the dealer and they are attempting to figure out the problem. The service manager I dealt with mentioned that he, personally, has worked with 2 customers that have presented the same problem. 1 customer had his vehicle "bought back" and the other, which was a month ago, had his "throttle valve" replaced and has not had the problem return. I have video of instances to support this claim, however the file size is too large to upload.

2019 Jetta se automatic transmission I have been having issues since I purchased my Jetta in January 2019 it seems like my car has a serious lag. I was driving and went to make a left turn and as I was accelerating out of the turn the car wouldn't go for a little while then it shot off. . I noticed that it does it when I slow down also it have very slow response time with the acceleration. It doesn't it every so often. Maybe about once or twice a week also when the auto engine turn off is engaged the car lags and sometimbes doesn't want to go. . Sometime I have to turn the car off and back on. Or shift it out and back into gears at red lights or drive through I take it to the dealership savannah Volkswagen and they say they can't find a issue or a fix. I honestly don't feel safe driving the car. . Especially with my kids.
My car haves all the gears highlighted on the display and occasionally when I'm driving it gets stuck on a low gear when I come to a complete stop and try to start going or if im in the highway it all of a sudden decides to shift to neutral gear making me slow down all of a sudden with potential to hit the person behind me or creating a catastrophic accident with many injuries or even death to does I might hit just because of my faulty transmission and I have look up the problem and there are many people with the same transmission trouble the NHTSA send a recall for the 2009-2010 but the previous models have also the same problems for it so please at least open an investigation about it so that way me and my fellow drivers understand the problem that keeps going on.

The gear selector indicator display on the dash is flashing and the car is doing its own thing changing gears. It will not properly accelerate causing a major safety issue anywhere but especially on the highway. The car was properly accelerating on the highway before the display starting flashing and the car downshifted (into either 3rd or 4th) and refuses to upshift again. I think this is related to a mechatronic unit failure in the 2009-2010 recalls.

Tl the contact owns a 2009 Volkswagen Jetta. While driving 55 mph, the vehicle shifted into neutral on its own. The vehicle was pulled over to the side of the road and turned off to reset the failure. The gear selector indicator illuminated prior to the failure. The vehicle was taken to the dealer (bob penkhus Volvo Mazda Volkswagen, 1101 motor city dr, colorado springs, CO 80905) where it was diagnosed that the direct shift gearbox failed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The contact referenced NHTSA campaign number: 09v333000 (power train), but the VIN was not included. The failure mileage was 112,000.

5-speed manual transmission failed after only 80,200 miles. Under normal driving conditions, accelerating after a stop, there was a noticeable "clunk" sound after shifting from 1st to 2nd gear, and then a continuous loud rattling sound in all the gears 2nd-5th. Vehicle remained drivable though with a continuous clattering sound in 2nd-5th gears and with a slight shuddering while in motion. Vehicle had recently received regular 80,000 service. No indication of a problem existed until it was manifest in this failure. Vehicle remained drivable though normal speeds enough to take to dealership approximately 40 miles away. Diagnosis was a problem in the gearbox necessitating a replacement of the transmission. Given the reliability of most manual transmissions, I consider this failure to be premature in comparison to its expected service life, and therefore most likely due to some defect in the unit. Vehicle is currently in for service to have the transmission replaced. Will provide documentation once the vehicle has been returned.

2010 Volkswagen 2. 0 turbo dsg fault. The vehicle has begun exhibiting dangerous random/unintentional shifting into much lower gears, or possibly even neutral at various speeds under light or no throttle input on two separate occasions thus far. The first time it happened the vehicle was traveling about 25mph, and the dsg transaxle downshifted/shifted into neutral for no apparent reason, engine revving to 4-5 thousand rpm. This happened roughly four times before it resumed normal operation the second time it happened was yesterday afternoon, on the highway with speed control set at 58mph. Vehicle shifted all by itself without reason, again revving to 4-5 thousand. This time it happened twice before returning to normal operation. Additionally, one morning I accelerated from a stop with cold engine/transaxle in drive, and the transaxle would not upshift from low gear for about 3-4 seconds. Not sure if this is related, but I suspect it may be. The first time it happened, the abs/esp light flashed and remained on, and I took it in to the dealer explaining the problem, and they said my rear wheel speed sensor was failing. This is the only indicator of any fault that I can tell. When the car exhibits this fault, I do not notice any flashing gear indicators or anything of the sort, everything seems normal, except the engine revs high all by itself. I do not have any photos or video evidence of the fault as of yet as it's very unpredictable and intermittent, but I will attempt to capture the problem if I can in the future.

Tl-the contact owns a 2009 Volkswagen Jetta. The contact stated that while driving at 65 mph, the transmission failed without warning. The contact was able to pull over. The contact was able to restart the vehicle, but all the gear indicator lights were illuminated. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired and the failure recurred. The failure mileage was 185,291. Ed.
I was on a freeway that was merging with another freeway, and the gear lights started flashing, the transmission quit, and I couldn't accelerate to get out of other vehicles way. I was doing 10 mph, and I had to cross two lanes of traffic doing 65 mph. Nowhere to go but that. I was so scared and was really lucky that no one hit me, although they did have to hit their brakes hard and swerve to avoid me. This is something I've seen on different forums now, and everyone says it is a mechatronic unit gone bad.

2006 vw Jetta tdi with dsg automatic transmission, dual mass flywheel failing, vw dealers keep in stock because high number of failures, mechatronic unit failing when driving, vehicle will reach 3rd gear then suddenly downshift to 1st gear. Resulting in a hard jerk. Gear shift indicators on dash will start to flash, shutting off vehicle and restarting will reset unit but as soon as you get to 3rd gear problem reoccurs. Known issue with 2007 -2009 dsg transmissions vw extended warranty to 10 years or 100,000 miles on these transmissions but fail to acknowledge the issue with 2006, contacting vw will respond with only we're sorry. Also expect long delays in getting a mechatronic unit.
The contact owns a 2009 Volkswagen Jetta. While driving 30 mph the gear warning light illuminated on the instrument control panel, and then the vehicle down-shifted into the neutral gear. He was able to safely restart the vehicle to continue normal operation. The vehicle was taken to the dealer three times for inspection. The technicians were unable to duplicate the failure; therefore, they could not provide a remedy. The vehicle identification number was unavailable. The failure mileage was 150. The current mileage was 6,000.
My 2007 vw Jetta gli went into neutral and not allow me to pull away from a red light. The car drifted back and suddenly lurched into gear and pulled away finally. The car has done this 2 or 3 times since and is currently being checked by my local vw dealer. I have spoken to vw customer service regarding the dsg issues. My car is not currently under any recall or extended warranty program according to their records when checking my VIN. There have been other strange shifts, but the lack of power when pulling out is very scary and unsafe. I have not experienced the flashing of the gear indicator lights in the multi function display.

Entering traffic in 2009 Volkswagen tdi sportwagon. As I applied the throttle, the car went into a false neutral, and lost power. The engine still revved, but nothing got through the transmission. All the gear indicator lights (p-n-r-d-s) on the dash flashed. I turned the car off, and restarted it, (in the intersection) and it worked fine. The happened three times while driving from seattle to san jose on 29 July.
Our 2009 Volkswagen Jetta tdi stopped and would not move. Fortunately we were not in an intersection the first time. The second time there were no other cars around when the car stopped. All of the gears were lighting up. There was no warning. The dealership replaced the input speed sensor and the fluid temperature sensor and we fortunately have not experienced the problem since that time.
While driving my 2009 vw Jetta sportwagen tdi with dsg transmission 65 mph on freeway, car had approximately 1175 miles on it, sudden loss of power, felt like the car was in neutral though was still in drive. The gear indicator lights flashed and no acceleration response when accelerator depressed. Gear re-engaged approximately 5 seconds later and was able to regain speed with no incident. Took into vw dealer, they were unable to reproduce, but called vw tech and were told to replace the input temperature sensor on the transmission. Sensor was replaced and I got the vehicle back 5 days later. Appears to be running fine, no repeat of "false neutral" in this case, there was no accident or injury, but sudden loss of power on the interstate in traffic could very easily lead to accidents and serious injury or death.
I own a 2007 Volkswagen Jetta gli with a 2. 0t engine and a direct shift gearbox (dsg) transmission. At approximately 33,000 miles (in 12/2008), my dsg transmission failed while driving on a main 40mph road into my job. I lost power at about 20mph while turning left in front of oncoming traffic but was luckily able to coast into my works side roads to pull over. The loss of power was accompanied by the flashing of all transmission gear lights (prdns), which is typical of all dsg transmission failures from what I have read. Vw completely replaced my transmission under warranty and never told me exactly which part of my dsg actually failed. They claimed that they simply remove the entire transmission and send it back to vw. There is a current recall for a small number of 08-09 dsg equipped cars, which was implemented because a faulty temperature sensor can cause the transmission to shift to neutral and all power would be lost, resulting in a dangerous situation. This power loss is what I experienced, and although my problem was likely unrelated to the current recall rationale, was dangerous to me nonetheless. I visit a vw enthusiast website where dsg failures on all model years are more commonplace than should be accepted. If this high failure transmission results in a dangerous condition, vw should remedy the problem by fixing all dsg models with updated components for all known commonly failing dsg components. At the very least, vw should also extend dsg warranties to 100,000 miles to cover repairs to this costly transmission.
Upon starting the vehicle and putting foot on the brake to move into another gear the brake light illuminated. The brake appeared to lock the gear shift, and you could not get it to go into another gear. The shift will not come out of park. Consumer took the vehicle to dealer to be repaired.
