1 Fuel Injection problem of the 2019 Volkswagen Passat

Failure Date: 10/01/2022

The contact owns a 2019 Volkswagen Passat. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle was shaking and then lost motive power. The contact pushed the vehicle to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the fuel injector needed to be replaced. The mechanic replaced the fuel injector. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and informed the contact that there was no recall associated with the VIN. The failure mileage was approximately 40,000.

There were no events leading up to failure when depressing the accelerator while the vehicle is moving forward there is a one to two second delay before the vehicle moves forward. I serviced the vehicle with Volkswagen and they said that this is normal.

4 Fuel Injection problem of the 1999 Volkswagen Passat

Failure Date: 10/25/2004

Our 1999 Passat with the 1. 8 liter engine stalls repeatedly when decelerating, this is dangerous. We purchased the car new and had a problems before 20,000 miles. Vw cannot diagnose this problem. I took vw to the bbb since they were very uncooperative in repairing this problem, and then they changed the throttle body. Then the problem went away for a few years and is now back and vw again refuses to replace the throttle body. The throttle body is obviously defective and they will not admit that there is a problem or fix it.

5 Fuel Injection problem of the 2002 Volkswagen Passat

Failure Date: 11/24/2002

One of the coli packs failed on my car at approximately 4500 miles. The car ran very rough and had a very noticable loss of power. A warning light appeared on the dash board and the manual said that the car should not be driven and should be towed to the dealership. I was afraid that if I was in a situation where the car needed to accelerate qucikly that an accident could have occured.

6 Fuel Injection problem of the 2002 Volkswagen Passat

Failure Date: 07/30/2002

Same as other complaint listed: "dangerous situation. When accelerating from a complete stop vehicle does 1 of 3 things: 1)gasps for gas and goes nowhere (dangerous when making left hand turns) or 2) tries to move ahead like a carbureted care with vapor lock or 3) performs normally. " problems are more noticeable when outside temperature is hot. I live in nevada. I have complained to vw and dealership basically said that vw knows about it but there's nothing that can be done. Many on vw forums have same problems. This is extremely dangerous and I'm surprised no one has been in an accident.

8 Fuel Injection problem of the 2002 Volkswagen Passat

Failure Date: 09/28/2001

Three of four original ignition coils have failed. Two of the replacements have failed. Vw America has been contacted. They acknowledge that they are aware of the problem and that a new coil is available, but they refuse to replace the coils until they fail. When the coils fail, the car runs very "rough" does not engage into the turbo phase and the engine light comes on. Dt.

9 Fuel Injection problem of the 2000 Volkswagen Passat

Failure Date: 10/26/2000

Sulfur deposits collect on sending units causing fuel to be read as empty when tank could be empty or full. Car will immediately shut off when this occurs. This problem was a recall issue beginning in June of 2000 for all 4motion Passats. I was not notified of this recall at the purchase of my vehicle in July of 2000 nor when I brought the car in intially for this problem. On second visit to local dealer was a recall mentioned, but nothing was fixed. I was informed by dealer to monitor fuel level at certain mileage. Originally 250 miles, which then decreased to 200 and then currently 150 due to last incident of car failure again. Dealer has been notified of problem and car was taken into dealership on 10/26, 11/1, 11/28 and was to be fixed 12/2. Problem not fixed. Wrong part was installed in car. Therefore, I will be having to take car in for a add'tl visit when correct part arrives at dealership. I am to wait for notification from the dealer when part will be delivered and ready. Recently found on website that this problem has been rendered by the NHTSA as possible to cause a crash. Once I notified dealer of this, a rental car was the offered, but at no other time was a loaner car offerred even with the recall stating such a claim. Proper follow up has not been done in regards to my situation and I am seeking a new car. I would like dealer to buy back car and acknowledge the default of this car or I refunded the purchase price of the car as just compensation. The problem has caused myself to suffer lost wages due to time lost at work and placed me in several saftey hazards. On the first incident my vehicle stopped while driving on the freeway at 65mph and I had to pull over on the side of the road. I called roadside assistance through Volkswagen on my cellular phone and the employee arrived, requesting $10 because the problem was gas related, although I had just filled up my tank the day before and had not driven more than 30 miles that day or the previous one.
