2 Headlight Concealment Device problem of the 2002 Volkswagen Passat

Failure Date: 07/02/2009

The contact owns a 2002 Volkswagen Passat. For several months he noticed that the headlights were not illuminating properly. The manufacturer stated that he was not experiencing a failure; therefore, they would not repair the vehicle under the warranty. The dealer stated that the plastic cover on the headlight was defected and that the sun's rays caused it to discolor and distort the bulb. The estimated cost for repair was $200. 00. The failure mileage was 59,000 and the current mileage was 60,000.

3 Headlight Concealment Device problem of the 2003 Volkswagen Passat

Failure Date: 07/10/2008

The contact owns a 2003 Volkswagen passed. The contact stated that the headlight assembly plastic covers became foggy due to the sun light. While driving 25 mph at night the headlights looked as though they were off and it was difficult to see. The contact took the vehicle to the dealer who stated that the headlight assembly needed to be replaced. 4 Headlight Concealment Device problem of the 2002 Volkswagen Passat

: the contact stated the headlight lenses are fogged. The vehicle was taken to the dealership, where it was determined the lenses need to be replaced. The fogging occurred shortly after the factory warranty expired. The extended warranty did not cover the problem. Updated 08/03/06.

5 Headlight Concealment Device problem of the 2001 Volkswagen Passat

Failure Date: 02/04/2005

The consumer experienced a problem with the headlights. The owner stated that while trying to take the vehicle through state inspection the vehicle failed because the headlights would not adjust. The adjustments were done from the reflector. The adjustment screw vibrated, and eventually fell off, making this very difficult to maintain. The consumer stated that the plastic gear vibrated. The light fell out of the adjustment. The plastic gear fell off and the lights went out of alignment. On Feb 4 the vehicle failed a state inspection because the lights were out of alignment and could not be corrected. Both head lamps were defective due to a small adjustment screw on the lamp assembly.
