2000 rpm at idle with a/c on. Normal with a/c off. Same as NHTSA 08v235000. Vw said this vehicle does not fall under that recall. Vehicle tries to accelerate beyond brake control at idle only with a/c on.

The timing chain system is defective and they know it. Why didn't they inform me of this. Maybe because they have hands full with the emission cheating scandal. Or if they did them they would be liable for all the complaints before. Please putvoutca recall. This car is dangerous !!!!!.

My 2008 Volkswagen Passat has cut off while driving. There is no warning light, it simply turns off and flashes the battery signal and turns off. The other times no other light is present. Due to this issue, changed out fuel pump, crank position sensor, engine harness, spark plugs, O2 sensor, and oil change. Issue still persists. I almost got hit by a semi truck when it cut off. There is no check engine light present at all. The battery is good. It's as if I'm driving and the fuel cuts off. I already changed the fuel pump and engine harness, don't know what else could cause this. Big safety issue as car gives no warning and just turns off while on highway or when coming to a stop sign while the car is in motion.

The car's transmission is listed as "automatic", however it jerks on slow speeds and slowing down. This performance is described in the dsg diagram from the automotive technology web site. It also appears that this manufacturer (vw) was the first to design this an automated manual transmission, it was not approved by the nhsta. This transmission should not be classified and then certified as automatic. The buying public should be notified if their vehicle has this alternate transmission. The jerk and lurch of the vehicle is problematic if the driver loses control at the event that the transmission is actually at fault. There is no grind in the gears like a traditional automatic to indicate malfunction. This occurs at every start, stop which makes it the regular performance for the vehicle, but how does the owner know when things are not. Occurs stopping at lights. Following in slow traffic. Driving up hill. Parking.

The contact owned a 2013 Volkswagen Passat. While proceeding to stop at a red light, the vehicle independently accelerated when the brake pedal was depressed. The vehicle failed to stop and crashed into the rear of another vehicle. The air bags deployed and scrap metal passed through the rear driver side passenger. A police report was filed. The contact sustained severe injuries to the hand and the passenger sustained a broken rib. Medical attention was required. The vehicle was destroyed and towed. The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 16v078000 (air bags). The parts to remedy the vehicle were unavailable. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 27,000.

This car is out right dangerous. My wife is driving on the express way 70 miles an hour the emergency brakes come on to her surprise and lock up. Thank goodness is was able to get it to the offside without incident. It seems this a common thing with this model, the gas pedal also cuts in and out unexpectedly causing the car to jerk violently in traffic. Ive just about had it with this thing.

I decided to change the oil myself in my car, since I wanted to save money and I knew what I was doing. Instead of draining the oil, I accidentally drained the transmission fluid. I didn't figure out that it was transmission fluid because it looked like oil! so, this is what happened after; I drove home (not knowing there was no tranny fluid in it) and I noticed that the car wanted to take off by itself. It kept doing tis two or three more times when it became stuck in 4th gear. I managed to safely get home, and figured out what happened. I am reporting this because this is a design flaw!!! the transmission fluid drain hole is where the engine oil drain hole should be! luckily, after I put fresh tranny fluid in it, the car was fine. I wonder how many other people this happened to.

The contact owns a 2009 Volkswagen Passat. While the vehicle was parked and while driving various speeds, the vehicle accelerated independently without the accelerator pedal being depressed. In addition, the contact noticed engine oil leaking from underneath the vehicle. The check engine warning light illuminated. The failure recurred on numerous occasions. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the rear main engine seal needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 88,000.
I was driving on my way to take my children to school when the vehicle started to shake and sputter and it stalled out just before I was going to drive through a busy intersection. I put the car in park and turned it on and it started to sputter as I put it in drive and depressed the gas pedal the car would not move. I turned off the car twice until it started up again and I was able to drive just down the street to a safe place. The car started to shake it started to smell funny. I had the vehicle towed to the dealership where diagnostics were run and test drove however the vw dealership said there was nothing wrong with the car. I do have to add that the batter light came on but everything else on the vehicle dashboard was functioning. This is the 2nd time this has happened and I've only had the vehicle for a year.

The contact owns a 2006 Volkswagen Passat. The contact stated that the vehicle unintentionally accelerated and jerked as the rpms revved. The contact stated that force was constantly applied to the brake pedal when the failure occurred. The vehicle was taken to the dealer on four occasions where the throttle body and the electronic control module were replaced, but the failure recurred. The manufacturer was notified of the failures. The approximate failure mileage was 80,000.

On Saturday Jan 10, 2014, while cruising at approx 45 mph driving straight, on a dry and clear day, the ecp dash light came on with no warning and the power of the car diminished significantly slowing down immediately and acceleration was extremely slow making it unable to maintain traffic-flow speed and driving uphills was even worse, slowing down and not able to maintain speed until over the hill. (virginia hilly roads). I took car to the local vw dealer, terry vw lynchburg,va who told me that the 2 timing chains and all associated parts would need to be replaced with an estimate of $3536. 00. I mentioned to them about the issue relating to the 3. 6 engine in this make/model/year having a repeated problem with the oil pump bolt that holds these together working loose and that vw had recognized this issue and replaced the "oil pump bolt" with a new model bolt on the assembly line after this same issue had occurred repeatedly with other owners of this same 3. 6 engine. Same issue recorded multiple times in vwvortex. Com, Passatworld. Com, carcomplaints. Com, Volkswagendefect. Com, arfc. Org, and others. I contacted vw of America who denied this problem existed and that they would not assist in the repair whatsoever. Since this is not an isolated issue and vw is not ignorant of it, and it causes the car to slow down immediately without notice, this could have been a serious issue had I been on a hi-speed highway and/or in congested traffic, vw needs to recall these vehicles with this engine and replace these items as this is not a normal failure item on most vehicles with is low of mileage.
This is all about vw Passat 2008 2. 0t, it was a rainy day on Saturday (Nov-14) engine started misfire and gave flashing engine check light, immediately went to see the vw service to get the feedback, service guy guessed it might caused due to misfire in one or more cylinder and took vehicle back with engine fluid topoff, on the way back home the engine check light came and stayed constant. So on Monday morning went to vw service to get full diagnose, service guy gave p300 and p301 as random misfires and did additional findings saying intake manifold needs DE-carb with $1000+ in service charge, I declined the repair and got the vehicle back with cleared code. Now the engine is not running smooth and seems it lost turbo power. Even during freeway take over if I press hard on gas peddle engine light flashes for couple times and there is no faster pick up to do smooth over take, if I choose run vehicle under this condition it may not be safe on roads. I read similar complaints reported here. Planning to take back to service center to see if they got any possible recall updates from vw.
My car was simply idling in park and all of a sudden I heard the idle rev up and the tachometer went up a few 100 rpm's. I thought, hmm that's strange. Then it started affecting the was my car shifts and makes it hard to stop. While at a stop in drive I can feel the idle is rough. I replaced my maf sensor, which was really expensive, hoping it would resolve the problem. Then while researching recalls on this model, I came across this, vehicle speed control problem on the 2006 Volkswagen Passat. I never got a notification of any recall. My car is out of warrant and I have a change of address. So I don't know what to do at this time. Any feedback would be very much, appreciated. Aron brittain.
As I tried to position myself to enter a parking lot. I changed gear to reverse, to back up. I switched gear again to drive. I proceed to the lot and that's when the car moved at a very high speed. I hit the brake, but had break failure . I could not stop the car, in the process (7) other cars were hit. . . Until the car was stopped by another car that was hit.
While driving on the freeway, multiple dashboard warning lights came on. I noticed the speedometer was not working. I pulled off the freeway, called for a tow truck. The car would not start for the tow truck driver.

I was pulling slowly into a parking space, and the car suddenly surged and hit a parking meter pole. The same thing happened again six and a half weeks later, again at very low speed. This time the car hit the wall of the parking ramp, and the driver's airbag deployed. In both cases, it was the first time the car had been driven that morning, a distance of about three miles.
I purchased a 2006 Passat 3. 6 on February 20th,2014 and making payments on it. Two weeks later I had to take it back to the dealer because the idle was up and down. They charged me $700 because the car was as is. Once I got the car back I starter seeing the epc light which is a common issue with Volkswagen and now the car wont go over 40mph , two weeks ago I saw smoke coming from under the hood and oil was all over the place and I cant locate any type of leak. . Read more...
This incident had to happen twice for the dealer to see the issue. Accelerating from stop at a light when I reached 3000 rpm the engine stalled and the car will not accelerate. I pulled to the side and turned the car off and turned it back on problem was gone. I took it to the dealer and they could not see any issue. Couple of weeks later same thing happened again but instead of turning the car off or even shifting out of d. I drove the car with that condition directly to the dealer and instructed one of the service technician to get in the car and take a ride with me. He saw the issue and this time believed me and they investigated further and found out that the knock sensors were malfunctioning. I have had nothing but problems with my car. My seat frame was fixed incorrectly twice. My navigation unit replaced twice and vw still ignoring the lag and freezing of the unit. Why pay 5000 more for a navigation and camera for them not to function right. A section of my muffler was malfunctioning as well. Another issue is the key fob. I found out it is effected very easily by interference and when your key fob is in the car it can say key fob not in close proximity. I am very disappointed by this vehicle, I thought vw had better quality standards.
I was stopped at a red light. The light turned green and I began to accelerate to make a left turn. As I was turning and still in the intersection, the car stalled. I luckily made it through the intersection and clear of oncoming traffic. I had to take the keys out of the ignition and restart the car. This has happened on multiple occasions even after being seen by the maintenance department at the dealership.
Has I was driven the car will came up with need services soon and will show brake light on and dead systems failed check parking brake and if you press the parking brake button on and off the car will nearly such gears or nearly move at all where if you shout it of the car and then wait for 5_10 min and turn it back on it will go like nothing wrong at all . Transmission has oil and I don't know what it is.
Driving from on freeway at 60 mph suddenly lost any ability to accelerate and power started dropping rapidly and the engine warning light on the dash started flashing. It put me immediately into a very very dangerous situation in which it was very difficult to maneuver in rapidly-moving, heavy traffic. Fortunately I was able to exit the freeway and call the dealer's vw service. I was told that it was not safe to drive the car, and that I would have to have it towed to service. I was stranded just off the freeway in the next town, and after several hours was towed to the dealership. The turbo was bad (this part had already been replaced once, about 100 or so miles earlier). However, that was not diagnosed by vw properly, and when I picked up the car it failed again within 10 minutes. Fortunately this time I was not at high speed, and was able to maneuver the car to a safe location. This situation with the turbo could easily have resulted in an accident, potentially very serious or even deadly if at high speed.
Electronic emergency brake fault; was driving on January 18,2014. My daughter was driving about 35 mph when this emergency brake light started flashing yellow. Also there was a red brake light that was flashing and beeping three times. She got the car under control mind you she is only 17 and she just bought this car from campus auto here in fort Dodge, IA on the 10th and he told her nothing was wrong with the car. Everything has went wrong with this car that can go wrong. She pulled over and read in her manual that with the beeping 3 times and the red light indicator said that she was suppose to get it to a trusted mechanic right away. So she did the Smart thing and called me to have the car taken to a mechanic. But what if she would have been on the highway and this would have happened. She would have lost control of this car on a highway. Please look into these Passat. There is something seriously wrong with them. Wheel bearings are bad in the rear. Fuel pump went bad. Coils burn. These are all dangerous things. Please help.
All controls located on the steering wheel went dead, and airbag failure indicator came on. Turning vehicle off and restarting it did not solve the problem. Drivers side airbag seems not to be functional.
The contact owns a 2013 Volkswagen Passat. The contact stated that the vehicle hesitated whenever he attempted to accelerate. The contact mentioned that the failure reccured several times. The vehicle was taken to the dealer. The technician stated that the occurrences were contributed to the way that the vehicle was designed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The VIN was not available. The failure mileage was 10,000.
The contact owns a 2013 Volkswagen Passat. The contact stated that while driving 60 mph, the vehicle decelerated without manual force with the illumination of the epc light. The failure recurred on several separate occasions. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnosis where it was stated that the accelerator pedal malfunctioned and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired but the problem persisted. The manufacturer was not notified. The approximate failure mileage was 5,700.
My vw Passat 2007 stalls and/or does not start. It has stalled while driving on the freeway and then sometimes does not start at all. Sometimes if tried after a while it may start. I'm told it is a high pressure fuel valve problem that is part of a recall but my VIN does not qualify for that.
If I am driving with no excelleration (coasting) and step on the gas to enter traffic there is no power; nothing happens when you push on the gas. This has happened numerous times both in town when trying to enter traffic, as well as on the freeway trying to cut in between cars. This is very dangerous if one does not have lots of room between cars. The volkswagon dealer claims this is only a problem for me becausi I am not used to driving a car with a digital throttle.
Flashing engine lamp/mil light, violent shaking, loss of engine power, foul odor, misfiring, pinging.

When I start the car, I put my foot on the brake and proceed to put the car in d (drive) or r (reverse). The car accelerates immediately even with my foot on the brakes. The only way to prevent this from happening is to allow the car to warm-up for 30 to 45 seconds before attempting to drive it. I have expressed my concerns to dealership and I was told as long as it does go over 11 rpms it should be okay. Then when I returned to the dealership and ask them to look at it again, I was told that the vehicle is operating as designed. Several times, I have forgot to let the the car warm-up and almost ran into my garage door or whatever object that was in front or behind me. Also, because my spouse does not drive the car often, he tends to forget to let the vehicle warm-up and as a result almost hit a car that was parked in front of him. If I let anyone drive the car, I tell them to let the car warm-up before they drive off. I do this because I am concerned that the driver will be overcome by the immediate acceleration and loose control of the car. I feel that there is a defect in the design which could cause an accident or injury and should be re-evaluated. Also, the brakes squeak and I have asked the dealership to check them out every time I take the car for the 10k maintenance. Each time, the dealership states that there is nothing wrong with the brakes. I am very dissatisfied with this car. I hope that if there is a defect or design problem, it can be resolved. If not, I will trade the car for another vehicle. However, I would hate for this automobile to be sold to another customer with the existing design.
The vehicle has a significant delay/hesitation upon initial acceleration (2. 5l). This is dangerous when pulling into or across traffic. It happens intermittently.
Car continues to stop while being driven.
While accelerating to pass another car, I fully depressed the gas pedal and upon releasing it, noticed it was stuck in the fully depressed position. Upon putting the car in neutral and hitting the gas pedal while it was it the stuck position, it became dislodged and was functional again. This is the second time this has happened to my car while driving it, the first time being in mid-November 2011. When the car is off and in park I am now able to recreate the pedal getting stuck, as it gets stuck about 25% of the time when fully depressed. I have not yet had a mechanic look at the pedal.
