Same issues as others as reported for tipm failures in vw Routan / Chrysler vehicles. The underlying common part is the the part number for the totally integrated power module in the 2012 Volkswagen Routan is vw 7b0937049. The part number in the Volkswagen Routan translates to Chrysler's part number 68105507 ac/ad. Although Chrysler has done a settlement in a class action lawsuit, the actual vehicles recalled are limited and about 1mm of the 7mm affected vehicles with faulty tipms. I am currently in a small claim's court case against Volkswagen trying to get reimbursed for my repair costs.

3 Gas Recirculation Valve (egr Valve) problem of the 2011 Volkswagen Routan

Failure Date: 11/27/2017

Recently the van has given me trouble upon startup. The problem is intermittent. Sometimes, it would start fine. Other times, it would take multiple attempts to start the vehicle. Other times, the vehicle would start, then immediately turn itself off. Sometimes, it would be like there wasn't enough charge to turn the starter, and other times, when it would start then die, it felt like it was running out of gas, my van only has 42,000 miles on it. After much research, I discovered that the totally integrated power module is the culprit of these issues. Specifically, it is the fuel pump relay that can intermittently not turn on, or turn off randomly. It is a well-known issue with these vans and its Dodge grand caravan and Chrysler town n country, upon which the vw Routan is based. Fca has stepped up to the plate, and issued a recall on many of its vehicles for faulty tipm's. Vw has issued a service bulletin identifying the problem but has yet to recall or fix the cars, instead the consumer has to shell out $300 to $1500 for the repair of a known faulty equipment. . 6 Gas Recirculation Valve (egr Valve) problem of the 2011 Volkswagen Routan

Failure Date: 09/13/2015

On September 15th 2015, I brought my 2011 volkswagon Routan to pioneer automotive services in oak harbor washington because the vehicle failed to start after several instances. After many hours of trouble shooting, I received word that it was the total integrated power module (tipm). They could order one and install it, but would have to be towed to burlington washington to the closest volkswagon dealership to be programmed. This part will cost me $822 with additional costs for installation and programming. After much research, I found there to be recalls for this part in Chrysler vehicles ranging in my year. I own a volkswagon, but it has a Chrysler motor in it. This indicates that my vehicle should have been recalled for this potentially life threatening defect, but because its a volkswagon with a Chrysler motor, this was their way to avoid an even larger number of recalled vehicles. The cost is disturbing, but the thought of what fatal end to this could bring has no price. All I seek is for Chrysler to own up to the flaw and replace this defect and to expand its possible recall numbers to make sure all vehicles that they placed their product in are evaluated. A timely response is very much appreciated. Thank you.

8 Gas Recirculation Valve (egr Valve) problem of the 2009 Volkswagen Routan

Failure Date: 03/10/2015

We have owned the vehicle for about 2 months with no issues, when we purchased the vehicle it came with a clean carfax listing no recalls. On 3/10/15 my wife was driving on a 2 lane country road going about 35mph when the vehicle suddenly lost power and she lost control of the vehicle. The engine appeared to have cut out, she had no power steering and no power brakes and was unable to stop or steer the vehicle. The dash displayed the anti-slip light, but no others. The vehicle slowed down to a stop, thankfully there was no oncoming traffic as she was no longer in her proper lane, and no cars behind her. She was able to put it in park and restart it as if nothing had happened and it was fine after that for the rest of her commute. We contacted vw about the issue and they requested that we bring the car to a vw dealer for inspection. We did that, and vw claimed that our vehicle was not impacted by recall # rna1, but instead they insisted the issue was caused by a faulty egr valve, and gave me an engine trouble code of c121c that they claimed corresponded with the failing egr valve. Vw charged me over $100 for the diagnosis, and a day later after complaining to vw customer care they agreed to refund the charges. I brought the vehicle back to the independent dealership that I originally purchased the car at the same day that vw diagnosed this, and they were not in agreement with the egr diagnosis, and also could not corroborate the trouble code c121c as being related to an egr issue, rather it comes up as a torque request signal denied trouble code instead. The independent dealer also found that I had stored codes for abs malfunctions, sunroof errors and mic/ccn instrument cluster. The independent dealer cleared these codes before leaving that day. On 3/25/15 my wife was driving at about 35mph when the cars engine shut off again in a similar fashion. No codes.
