1 Engine Belts And Pulleys problem of the 2016 Volvo XC90

Failure Date: 03/02/2020

The pulley on the alternator failed so the serpentine belt fell lose and ended up behind the engine where the timing belt is located. This caused the engine to lose timing and damaged all the valves, cylinders, and engine block. Now the Volvo dealer is telling me the engine can't be repaired and will need to be replaced with a new one that will cost $16,000. 00. This happened while the vehicle was being driven on the freeway and arterial streets. The damage to the engine was caused by the failure of the alternator pulley. This should be a recall.

2 Engine Belts And Pulleys problem of the 2014 Volvo XC90

Failure Date: 04/25/2018

Purchased 2014 xc 90, 5,200 miles on it March 2018. Steering wheel vibration issue reported by me 5/2018 . It doesn't matter if it is in neutral, drive, reverse with the brake depressed. When turning the steering wheel left or right,it vibrates. Now feeling more vibrations from engine/steering wheel when accelerating. Volvo USA/sweden techs have been involved. It is now Dec. 2018. Motor/transmission mounts, steering wheel oscillator, power steering pump/pulley replaced, engine torque mounts adjusted. Being told this is "characteristic" of this engine. Between 2008 to 2014 the 2. 3l engine, which was originally designed for the landrover, was not designed for the xc. The engine cabin was designed for the 5 cyc. Volvo has determined there is nothing else that can be done to correct the vibration, period. They say no safety, engine, transmission, drive train concerns. I'm chagrined this is acceptable to them. Has been serviced 9 different times between 5/18 to 12/18. Volvo has been paying for all charges since first reported even though it has been out of warranty. Not sure what else to do? thanks for any suggestions. Ken.

In October 2014 myself my boyfriend and my 7 year old we're driving home when all of a sudden the car would not accelerate when I tried to push through the traffic light the vehicle then slowed down in the middle of the road their was no way of me trying to pull over bc the car completely stopped I then proceeded to get my 7 year old out the truck and her spelt belt in the back was stuck and would not come out we were almost hit from the back due to the vehicle stalling in the middle of the road in a curve we were stranded for about three hours in the dark when we were finally towed home I was told that the transmission was no good and this is the reason our vehicle stalled and was disabled.
