4 Power Steering Fluid problem of the 2008 Acura TL

Failure Date: 06/13/2015

Received "important safety recall notice" from Acura in June 2012 regarding issues with power steering fluid leaking possibly causing a fire. The vehicle was returned to an authorized Acura dealer for repairs soon after receipt of notice. In June 2015 the same authorized Acura dealer stated after a routine service visit that the steering rack is leaking and the steering pump is leaking. The estimated cost to repair is $2,299. 00. Soon after I wrote letters to both Acura customer service department and the coggin Acura requesting an inquiry and financial assistance to repair the hazardous vehicle. I did not receive a response from coggin Acura; however, Acura customer service department responded with a complete rejection. This is clearly a very dangerous issue, one that was serious enough at one time for a recall. I am the original vehicle owner and have serviced the vehicle at Acura authorized dealer.

10 Power Steering Fluid problem of the 1999 Acura TL

Failure Date: 09/10/2012

Over a month ago, I noticed a sound whenever I would steer the vehicle. I checked the power steering fluid level and noted it was low. I added more fluid to the appropriate level and in a week or so, the sound returned. After repeating this process, I then noticed smoke coming from under the hood. After checking some online forums and visiting a service shop, I have learned that my power steering pressure hose has a leak that could potentially start a fire. The Acura recall does not include my model year even though I am experiencing the same issue. I'd like for Acura to correct this widespread problem on my 1999 3. 2 Tl before it gets worse. 11 Power Steering Fluid problem of the 2008 Acura TL

Failure Date: 08/24/2012

Please note the persistent problems found in 3rd generation Acura Tl vehicles' power steering systems. These problems seem to be reported frequently by Acura Tl owners and I believe them to be a result of faulty design and poor manufacturing. These problems effect the performance and safety of the vehicles and I believe should be the basis for a mandatory recall. In my own vehicle, along with having to replace the power steering feed hose due to a previous recall, I have also had to replace the power steering pump and power steering suction hose. I have been told the power steering fluid reservoir leaked and finally that the power steering rack needed replacement. Given the multitude of problems with this system, I called Acura corporate to relay the problem and was told to simply call my local service station to get the problems fixes as they arise. I researched the issue and found that many Acura owners are experiencing the issues I had and continue to have. Researching the issue I have found that the '08 model seems to get the most complaints despite it being the "youngest" of the Tl third generation cars. Your own experts can take a look but one mechanic I came across noted the following: "its no wonder that these racks are destined to fail and leak with time. The seals inside must be slowly roasting on every daily commute the system endures with the super hot ps fluid. Over time the rubber is going to warp and deform, breaking the seal in the system, thus negating its sole purpose of holding any ps fluid altogether. Acura must have become aware of this as problem. However, only made a revision on the type-s. If you look at the parts website, you'll see how the type-s had integrated a ps fluid cooler into their system:" I believe Acura knows there design was faulty and knew there would be a very large number of failures and did nothing.

21 Power Steering Fluid problem of the 2006 Acura TL

Failure Date: 09/08/2008

Since the day of the car purchased in 2006 the steering was very harder than other cars we used before and consulted with the dealer. I was told that Acura Tl is a sports car and the steering will be harder than other manufactures. This problem continued and a recall from the manufacture replaced power steering hose which was defective. I contacted dealer multiple times and was told that the nothing to worry; it is normal for this model. When the situation got really bad, I took it back to the dealer when the mileage was around 120000 miles, I was told that the power steering rack is leaking oil out the end seals and the proper correction is replacement of power steering rack and a possible damage to the pump due to low fluid level. The estimated cost was $1650. 00. I had a very hard time for driving this car for many years and come up with $1700. 00 to fix it. Also the bushing were torn and popped through. According to service technician torn bushing was a design issue for 2004-2008 models and Acura changed the body style later to correct the problem. In order to fix this wobbling/shaking problem the estimated cost is $681. 00. (due to defecitive body style). According the dealers and technicians I contacted, I was told that these problems are vey seldom and they are due to manufacturing problems. As a customer I have to come up with around $2500. 00 to fix a defective luxury car cost me more than $35000. 00 in 2006. What a shame.

On may 19, 2008, he called Acura for reimbursement and was informed that he would not be reimbursed because the failure that was repaired was not the same as what was stated in the recall.
