5 Power Steering Hose, Piping, And Connections problem of the 2006 Acura TL

Failure Date: 06/17/2009

My car had a steering fluid leak in 09 during a family trip. I did not know of the leak but after hours that the car cooled down (after arriving at the final destination) and started it again that the steering made a lot of noise and was stiff. Acura customer service said that it would be covered under warranty. That was very odd since the 3 yr warranty had expired the previous year (08). She never said there was a recall. She told me to drive it to the nearest dealer, a 3 hr car drive in the opposite direction to my hometown. Customer service agreed that I would drive the car back to my hometown to a Honda dealer where they would replace hose. After inspection technicians found that the pump was damaged as well as a result of the leak but Acura didn't take responsibility because they said the warranty was for the hose not the pump. Later on after surfing the net I found in NHTSA there was a recall. Unfortunately some months after the hose was replaced at the Honda dealer I had a 2nd steering fluid leak, minor this time. This happened after several days of continuous driving and arriving in canada during another long family trip. At Acura west in ontario it was diagnosed a steering fluid leak. The Honda dealer that had replaced the hose said that they were not responsible since the leak occurred months after it was replaced. I contacted Honda and Acura but they didn't want to take responsibility. I have sent 7 faxes to the president of Honda japan but his representative says that would be handled by Honda local representative. They never did. I called Honda many times, sent many e-mails but they say they are not responsible. The result of their irresponsibility was a lot of hassle, two leaks, a damaged pump and they put in danger me and my family twice as the engine could have caught fire. None of this would have happened had they warned me, timely, of the recall updated 05/24/12 updated 05/25/12.
