On 11/19/19 my car was parked at a grocery store. When I got in to start it I got a flashing message regarding the electric power steering: 51. I couldn't really move the steering wheel and thankfully I was not driving. I had to had the car towed home. Upon looking into this I can see this has happened to a lot of people. The same year, make and model within the same mileage range as me. I have a 2011 Acura Tsx with 75,000 miles. There is no reason this should be happening, I have had every required maintenance. This is a safety issue and should be recalled. Acura needs to do the right thing and recall this so they can fix it. Why would anyone owing this car ever buy another Acura knowing that with no fault of their own this can happen to them. Needless to say I have an appointment on 01/02/2020. The dealership said there is a "bulletin" regarding this issue. They are clearly aware of this problem.

Took the car for a test drive before I purchased it, no leaks and everything worked fine. The next morning I noticed a wet spot under the car, took it to the nearest shop and found out the power steering rack was leaking.

Car with 94k mikes. Power steering stopped working while driving. Almost impossible to turn wheels. "check power steering" light on. Fuse for eps is working, which indicates that eps unit has failed. With the number of the same complaints over last few years Acura should issue safety recall, as lack of steering could lead to fatal incidents.

I got check power steering system indicator on and power steering jammed , cannot turn. This happened all of sudden, fortunately it happened while driving back home on driveway. Car has 75k miles, never heard for such thing, bad quality from Acura.
On my way to work last night while driving in the highway, my steering wheel locked, making it impossible for me to turn. Then lights starting flashing on the dashboard saying check power steering system. I was afraid for my life as this is dangerous. I did safely make it to work. At this time I am unable to find a recall for this problem which is odd because this is definitely not a consumer's fault. It's a system failure.

The contact owns a 2011 Acura Tsx. While driving approximately 67 mph, the power steering seized without warning. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The contact stated that an appointment was pending with hendrick Acura (located at 6824 e independence blvd, charlotte, nc 28227, (980) 242-5667). The manufacturer was not contacted. The approximate failure mileage was 79,000. Piir=y.
The automatic steering stopped working when I was trying to reverse out of the parking lot. Car was only parked for 15 minutes in the lot. Car only has 32k.
When I drove to a parking lot, the steering suddenly locked. The car had to be towed to a dealer for repair.
While I was driving to work the steering wheel got real tight and was very hard to move. Luckily I was not on the highway yet and was able to pull over safely. This was very scary and dangerous. I had to leave my car there and find a ride to work. I then had my car towed to a car shop to have it checked out. They are telling me it is an electrical problem but going to do a full diagnostic on it and get back to me tomorrow. After seeing all these complaints there should be a recall for this situation.
"check power steering system" alert flashes on when I was driving on highway during rush hours. I can barely make any turns when this happens. This is a huge safety hazard and puts my life as well as others at risk. Others with same year and model have posted about this online. My mileage is about 65k. This needs to be recalled.
Our non-moving vehicle was involved in a hard rear-end collision at a in city traffic waiting to make a legal turn. A week later vehicle lost steering mobility. We had baton rouge, la Acura dealership run a diagnostic. They failed to determine if the failure was directly associated with rear-end collision. I would say so. That is fine lil tough car. We are the second owners. All we have had to do is preventive maintenance and change a battery. Acura cars at 88k miles do not have electrical component steering problems. At the time an owner of a 2008 Tsx had 179k miles with no problems. Our household had to experience more than a$1700 unexpected expense. Spoke with an NHTSA rep last week. She mentioned the steering system is under warranty for that model year (2013). Help.
My 2013 Acura Tsx eps system went out and I bought a new one through Acura and installed it myself and come to find out it did not work, same error is occurring. Dash is say check power steering system and same code pops up for the eps module. Will be contacting the dealer I purchased from to get replacement. Supposedly it has a 1yr manufactures warranty.
"check power steering system" alert flashes on and off constantly and does not allow me to steer. I can barely make any turns when this happens. Sometimes it is not there but it pops back randomly. I went to the dealer and they told me nothings wrong but clearly something is wrong. This is a huge safety hazard and puts my life as well as others at risk. Others have posted about this online. This needs to be recalled.
Tl the contact owns a 2013 Acura Tsx. The contact stated that the steering wheel seized without warning and became difficult to turn in either direction. Spreen Acura (8101 auto dr, riverside, CA 92504, (951) 335-8955) was notified and indicated that the manufacturer had not issued a steering recall. The vehicle was not covered by a warranty for servicing. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was contacted. The approximate failure mileage was 80,000.
I have a 2011 Acura Tsx. The electronic power steering keeps malfunctioning while driving in moving traffic. It appears the electric power steering (eps) module is malfunctioning. This is a known problem with this model Acura. Acura is well aware of this issue, yet has done nothing to remedy this safety issue. There are hundreds (if not thousands) of complaints about the eps. Acura still has not issued a recall. This is a serious (and dangerous) problem. The steering can just working without notice at highway speeds making the car uncontrollable. Will it cost someone's life before Acura issues a recall for this known problem with their vehicle? if Acura does not fix this problem, someone will get killed driving their Acura, and by then it will be too late.
Power steering completely went out while driving. Steering wheel won't turn at all. Light going off about power steering malfunction.
Power steering module went out at 90,000 miles for a 7 year old car and cost for parts alone is $900.
The power steering went out all of a sudden while I was driving home on the freeway. I was driving at normal speed with no traffic when my steering wheel went stiff and the car became very difficult to steer. My dashboard flashed a warning light and a message reading 'check power steering system!' I had to exit the freeway carefully as my steering wheel would barely move. I narrowly missed hitting several cars as I exited the freeway. My car just hit 70,000 miles like the other people who have experienced this issue. I have yet to get a repair estimate from Acura, but it appears to be a very expensive issue. Please help as this appears to be an ongoing issue with these particular Acura models.
Steering went out during driving. Dash is displaying check power steering system! and Acura says the part is $1200. This is ridiculous! I could have been injured by this. It's apparently a known issue in these cars.
Entire power steering module went out at 70,000 miles. This seems like an extreme issue that should be recalled, not just normal wear & tear. A major issue that is very expensive to repair.
My "check power steering system" light lit up on my dashboard without warning while I was driving, and suddenly my power steering stopped working. The car became hard to drive and turning became difficult. Thank god I was minutes from home on the street but I can't imagine how scary and dangerous had I been on the freeway. The light and power steering have intermittently gone on and off since then. Acura seems unwilling to help me repair the issue (very expensive fix), and I don't even have that much wear on the car considering how old it is. I am very disappointed because this is a dangerous problem and I'm honestly concerned about getting on the freeway to drive to work. I am really hoping Acura will acknowledge this problem and help all these customers resolve it, since I see that many people have been having this issue.
I was traveling on the expressway and my steering wheel became hard to turn almost causing me to wreck. A warning light came on stating check power steering system, I later found out it was my eps unit that had gone out. Acura is aware of this problem and refuse to recall the issue and continue to put families lives in danger. This manufacturer needs some accountability.
I was driving on a state hwy coming home from work in the dark & rain when all of a sudden my steering wheel locked up. I thankfully was able to take control. I veered off the highway when I noticed I couldn't turn my wheel. After getting it home & looking what it could be I read the power steering. After reading several forums regarding this issue it's a known problem with this vehicle & year. This has happened to numerous people while driving which is behind dangerous & I couldn't imagine if I couldn't take control. Why hasn't this been recalled? it's a whole forum on this where people could have lost their lives. This vehicle does not just take power steering fluid so it would not be an easy fix. Now it's impossible to turn my wheel. I reached out to Acura but got no response.
While driving and almost ending up in a accident to where I could injury myself or someone else my car immediately said check power steering and the steering wheel locked as well then the dealership chargers 1500. 00 just not safe and over priced repair to something that gives you know warning.
Power steering system abruptly cut out as I was driving down the highway. Stop and go traffic. I was forced to try and get the vehicle off to the side of the road with no power steering in rush hour traffic.
I was driving my 2012 Acura Tsx when my steering became very difficult to turn and almost caused me to get into an accident. A warning sign came up on my dashboard saying "check power steering". I only have 79,000 miles on my vehicle and have seen tons of other complaints regarding this issue. Additionally, Acura/Honda provided a warranty extension on earlier models.
Two days ago I was driving Acura Tsx 2012 on the highway and all of a sudden I had a message warning check power steering and the drive wheel completely locked. It lasted a couple of minutes. Took the car to an Acura service center and had to replace the eso unit. This is a serious issue that needs to be addressed with priority before people die or a tragedy happens. It is not being attended as it should as a high life threataming issue. Acura has the numbers of the replaced units and needs to take action. I expected more from a high quality company. What does it need in order to be called in recall, this is an anticipated death that can be avoided. . Please take immediately action!.
My name is toni toomer and I would like to file a complaint with Acura located at the following takata recall Acura corporate office headquarters american Honda motor CO. , inc. 1919 torrance blvd. Torrance, CA 90501-2746 USA corporate phone number: 1-800-999-1009 fax number: 1-310-783-3023 customer service number: 1-800-382-2238 my complaint/concern: why has there not been a recall on a major and numerous amout of issues (and complaints from a widespread of customers regarding the same exact issue with the same exact vehicle) concerning electric power steering of the 2012 Acura Tsx? this issue needs to be recalled by Acura but instead the consumers are paying thousands of dollars to get the electric powering steering repaired (which can only be reprogrammed by Acura). Acura has it set up where only Acura and Honda can reprogram issues such as this and I guess that still keeps the money inside their company so we the consumer can not take it elsewhere where it may be cheaper financially to get repaired. I contacted Acura customer relations in California through email and fax initially. I then on spoke on the telephone with the district manager, April blank and her supervisor, carla. During the conversation I ask was there a recall on the electric power steering and there answer was no. I showed them the list of consumer complaints with the same exact vehicle and mentioned to them both that there should be a recall and their answer was very non-chalent and basically telling my warranty is over because my car is over 150,000 and ther is absolutely nothing Acura can do to assist. Now I not quite sure what the warranty has to do with a recall that I suggested, but I guess they were trying to find anyway out not to assist with helping with the electric steering problem. I cant drive that car because if it locks up on me while driving it to the Acura dealership.
While pulling into a parking lot, the power steering quit completely. Took vehicle to dealer and they replaced the eps control unit at a cost of about $1800.
Stationary vehicle. With no warning, all my power steering sensors started blinking and chiming when turning on my vehicle. The electric steering is completely gone. Upon researching this issue, it turns out this is a massive problem for Acura and Honda and yet no recall has been made??? instead Honda/Acura are charging, and I quote directly from the Acura technician 'over $1000, under $3000' to fix the issue. Why is there not a recall? this can technically happen while driving, when the car is at speed. Someone would be killed, easily, especially if driving on roads that have turns and/or curves.
My "check power steering" light came on while my car was moving 5mph through a parking garage. Instantly my wheel became very hard to move. After parking and turning the car off/on the problem resolved itself. 5 days later I was traveling down a residential road the eps failed again. The dealership quoted me $2000 in repairs, and Acura said there was no warranty or campaign coverage for the costs. Between the 2011 and 2012 model years there are 60+ complaints for low mileage failure of eps while driving. This problem should be subject to investigation and safety recall.
I was driving my Tsx and rounded a corner as the eps light came on and the power steering was no longer working. I was unable to turn the steering wheel at all at this point. Luckily, I was close to my house and was able to pull off the side of the road near my driveway. My boyfriend later went out and started the car and the warning sign had disappeared and the car seemed to function at that time. Three days later my boyfriend was driving the car when the light came back on, the power steering went out and he nearly lost control as we were in the middle of a turn on the road. We felt very fortunate that no other cars were near at the time. This is extremely dangerous and I am utterly shocked that Acura has not recalled this part. My car is a 2012 with only 53k miles on it. I buy Acura vehicles because they are supposed to be reliable and safe. This is just very shocking that Acura does not seem this to be a safety hazard and correct the issue for their customers before someone is seriously injured or killed.
Steering wheel locked up. Could not drive as a result of being unable to move the wheel. The powering steering warning indicator came on.
