37 Power Train problem of the 2003 Audi A4

Failure Date: 09/02/2017

I bought an used 2003 Audi A4. I put it in reverse and it would not engage. Then the dash where the gears show what gear you're in started flashing. It showed a p0706 code. This happens so often that one of these times I am going to cause an accident. The car has over 100,000 miles on it, but how can it be my fault that the other owners did not take it in to get this well known module repair fixed. When I am parked flat I can usually get it in reverse after 4-5 times of trying. But. . . When I am on any slant it takes at least 10 times of trying almost to the point of getting out and pushing it in reverse myself!! one of these days I am going to hit a car behind me trying to get out of my parking spot!! I know there was a recall and I'm just wondering why a current owner of the car that obviously is doing this can't get it fixed as there was a recall.

38 Power Train problem of the 2003 Audi A4

Failure Date: 07/01/2017

Car stuck in limp mode and car will jump at certain speeds.

39 Power Train problem of the 2009 Audi A4

Failure Date: 06/29/2017

Came into the garage in the morning and realized there was oil on the ground. The next day took the car to the shop to have them looked at to see where the oil leak is coming from. After diagnosis the result was that rear main seal needs to be replaced with the pcv valve. Total price is about $1500. I did not have any check engine light and this seems like it is a known issue with Audi vehicles where the pcv valve is over pressuring the engine and causing gaskets/seals the blow. I believe this should be the responsibility of the Audi to fix this problems since this is a known issue and has been reported a lot of 2. 0t engines.

40 Power Train problem of the 2013 Audi A4

Failure Date: 04/10/2017

I just bought an 2013 Audi A4 on 4/6/17, I drove it for a week and the car started to give me transmission malfunction warning, the car jerks and clunks when going from 1st to 2nd or even when coming to a stop. The car only has 36,000 miles. I believe Audi needs to step up and make this a mandatory recall because there is entirely to many people having the same issues with the mechatronic units on such low mileage Audi's. I had the same problem on my old 2006 Audi A4 and got it fixed for a few thousand, now I have to do the same with my 2013 Audi A4. I feel this is not fair and the company is stealing money to repair a part they know is going to fail. Please help me and hundreds or thousands of other people experiencing the same issue. Thanks.

43 Power Train problem of the 2015 Audi A4

Failure Date: 09/21/2016

S times now, the vehicle intermittanly fails to move when placed in gear, reverse or drive. Additionally, while underway, transmission "bucks" and in some instances, accelerates rapidly with miminal accleration at accelrator pedal. I have a video of the latest incident but am unable to upload it to your site.

44 Power Train problem of the 2013 Audi A4

Failure Date: 08/25/2016

The contact owns a 2013 Audi A4. While attempting to start the vehicle, it vibrated abnormally. The contact stated that the check engine warning indicator illuminated. The vehicle was towed to the dealer to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that the transmission coolant valve fractured, which caused coolant to leak into the electronic control module. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 80,500.

45 Power Train problem of the 2007 Audi A4

Failure Date: 08/08/2016

Audi A4 transmissions have a faulty trasmission component, which causes them to fail. Repairs are costly, and are not a guaranteed permenant fix. Driving around in a vehicle (known to the manufacturer) with a transimission waiting to fail is not only extremely unsafe - it's just bad business. Please help institue a recall for all Audi vehichles with faulty cvts. A lawsuite settlement was announced in 2013, however, this only covers year models from 2002-2006. Clearly, the cvt transimission is still in production in Audi A4s till this day. I drive a 2007 Audi A4 with less than 100k miles and is less than 10 years old. My transimission went out on me while trying to reverse out of a driveway on to a highly populated city street, with a slight hill from oncomming traffic - I could of been slammed into from the rear.

46 Power Train problem of the 2008 Audi A4

Failure Date: 05/02/2016

I was driving on rout 62 with my 16 year old niece and my car felt like it went into neutral, the lights on the dash started flashing. The brake pedal felt tight but I was able to pull over without causing an accident. It keeps happening and I am afraid to drive. (especially knowing there is an open recall because my airbags may not work or worse, cause severe injury due to metal shrapnel) I also read that my car has a hidden defect that the timing chain can go at any time, causing catastrophic engine failure. I brought it to an independent Volkswagen Audi mechanic where they did a diagnostic. He told me to bring it to someplace that specializes in transmissions. I looked in my owners manual and under transmissions. It says if this happens drive it to your nearest Audi shop. I emailed Audi because I read that there were recalls and technical service bulletins about the diagnostic code p0606. I saw that there are many class action lawsuits and complaints all about the same problem with my car. I can't wait years for a class action lawsuit. I live in new england and it's getting cold. This is my only car. I bought 6 months ago, in November. I have done all the service and maintenance recommended by Audi. What ever it is that is wrong with my car, Audi has fixed other cars but not fixing mine and my car. I take excellent care of my car, inside and out. It has been serviced at every recommend milage date. Nothing has ever gone neglected. My car is completely inoperable and it is due to defects that were made during manufacturing. I do not trust Audi customer service or the Audi service center.

47 Power Train problem of the 2010 Audi A4

Failure Date: 11/14/2015

Purchased a used lease vehicle in 2014, 63,000 miles on it. Looked like a creampuff. Carfax was clean. Used oil excessively. Was told by local dealer I could not get car fixed per class action settlement because I was not original owner or did not have all service records. Car has now had an intake valve failure in cylinder 3 while driving on highway at normal speed. Possibly caused by defective piston rings breaking. 101,000 miles and just out of extended warranty I purchased for $2500 extra. Car is not drivable and stuck 3 hours from my home. Audi of America says car was "fixed" in 2012 and will not release maintenance records, citing privacy of previous owner, a corporate lease. Audi dealer in melbourne FL who did the repair in 2012 will not release records so I do not know what was fixed and what parts were used. Total runaround by Audi of America and Audi of melbourne. I don't have $7000 for repair, and, still make payments on car for 2 more years . A car I can't drive, for work. All 5 million vehicles from 2009, 2010 and 2011 with defective pistons and rings need to be recalled and fixed. Excessive oil consumption also compromises catalytic converter performance, and life. That's another $1200-$1700 to get replaced. Audi care is a joke. Their arrogance is astounding.

48 Power Train problem of the 2011 Audi A4

Failure Date: 10/15/2015

Vehicle stalled out and started shaking only to find out injectors went out and oil consumption issues. Audi USA is prolonging an issue that they know is wrong with the vehicle regarding oil consumption. I have completed phase I of the test and took it to dealership to have phase ii completed however without my consent or knowledge Audi has the dealership perform phase I over again. Car is eating excessive amount of oil but yet Audi USA is prolonging the situation with no resolution. Purchased the car 08/24/2015 had to have an oil change done two weeks later beginning of September by October 15th I had to add more oil as the oil indicator light came on come to find out there is a known issue for consuming oil. I have phase I completed however I took vehicle in to have phase ii done on it only to be told they had to do phase I over which isn't fair the vehicle still eats oil and value is depreciating drastically because of Audi and Volkswagen epa violations.

49 Power Train problem of the 2007 Audi A4

Failure Date: 08/24/2015

The contact owns a 2007 Audi A4. The contact stated that while driving at 40 mph, the vehicle jerked and the rpm gauge fluctuated rapidly. The contact mentioned that the vehicle failed to accelerate when the accelerator pedal was depressed. The contact stated that the failure occurred constantly. The vehicle was taken to the dealer on multiple occasions but the failure was not determined. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 93,000.

50 Power Train problem of the 2003 Audi A4

Failure Date: 08/03/2015

2003 Audi A4 with 6 speed cvt transmission. There is a known issue with the transmission in this vehicle. While driving the car it shifts from first to second very fast even if you ease down on the accelerator, the car lunges forward and jerks. I have came close on several occasions to hitting the car in front of me . I have read several sites including the Audi and volks wagon forums and there are also many complaints with exact same issue. This is a safety issue Audi should correct.

51 Power Train problem of the 2007 Audi A4

Failure Date: 06/09/2015

High pressure fuel pump failure resulting in damage to camshaft, cam follower and internal metal shavings from defect at 123,542 miles.

52 Power Train problem of the 2007 Audi A4

Failure Date: 05/05/2015

The crankshaft broke while driving on a highway at constant speed. The incident immediately disabled the car which could have been a major hazard had this not been a manual transmission as I was able to apply the clutch and coast to a safe location. Had it not been an automatic the car would have quickly coming to a stop in moderate traffic creating a significant hazard. Previous model years of this car have had a similar issue, but this year was not included this is a manual car, that still has it's original clutch and the car has met all manufacturers maintenance. All maintenance on the car has been performed by an dealer. Clearly this is a manufacturing or engineering defect that should be addressed by Audi.

53 Power Train problem of the 2009 Audi A4

Failure Date: 04/23/2015

Vehicle began to run very rough / started to shake. Vehicle was then parked / turned off and couldn't restart. The vehicle was towed to the Audi dealership where they diagnosed the problem as a faulty chain tensioner. May I add here that I'm being told by the service people that updated chain tensioners are being recommended on newer vehicles. Just prior to the warranty expiration the care was serviced for the oil consumption issue.

54 Power Train problem of the 2003 Audi A4

Failure Date: 04/04/2015

The contact owns a 2003 Audi A4. While driving at 40 mph, the accelerator pedal became stuck to the floorboard of the vehicle. The contact stated that the accelerator pedal had to be lifted with her foot for it to go back to normal position. The failure recurred on three occasions. While at a complete stop and attempting to accelerate, the vehicle would jerk. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the transmission needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 100,000.

55 Power Train problem of the 2008 Audi A4

Transmission shifting out of control.

56 Power Train problem of the 2015 Audi A4

Failure Date: 12/15/2014

The contact owns a 2015 Audi A4. The contact stated that while at a stop light, the vehicle rolled backwards when the vehicle was in drive. The failure recurred several times. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 1,000.

57 Power Train problem of the 2014 Audi A4

Failure Date: 09/14/2014

My 2024 A4's 8 speed automatic will not always shift into 8th gear. I've went 18 miles before it finally shifted into high gear. I was even going down a long hill at 60 mph and it would not shift into high gear. This seems to happen more when the transmission is cold. You can see what gear its in by shifting the gear lever over into manual mode. I also noticed it will shift into high gear faster if you let up on the gas pedal after you reach 50 or more mph. My car has the drive select option ( comfort, auto, and dynamic modes) it doesn't matter which mode its in, I still have the problem. I noticed this last year and it is still happening.

58 Power Train problem of the 2007 Audi A4

Failure Date: 06/10/2014

On 6/10/2014, I drove my 2007 Audi A4 a few miles to a local business and parked. On attempting to restart the car I found that the ignition key spun in the ignition cylinder assembly. It took approximately two minutes of spinning and light pushing for key the mechanism to reengaged, and the car to restart. During the time the key was spinning it was fully engaged with the lock, but spun in-place with the engine not starting. Took car to certified Audi dealer on 6/16 for diagnosis and the recommendation to replace the ignition cylinder assembly. Contacted Audi of America on 6/30 regarding safety incident. Jun-14 08:15:41 pm.

59 Power Train problem of the 2003 Audi A4

Failure Date: 06/10/2014

Stopped at stop light in rush hour traffic. Light turned green. Attempted to accelerate- but car just jerked and rocked back and forth and then rolled backward- almost rolling into car behind me. Had to call 911 to redirect traffic and get a tow truck. 2nd incident occurred on 7/12/picked car up from service shop. Driving home in rush hour traffic. Stalled at traffic light. Restarted car and it was able to move, but wouldn't shift. Had to make an illegal u-turn to get out of traffic and was able to pull off the side of the road. 3rd incident occurred on 8/12/pulling out of driveway and car stopped shifting. Stalled in driveway. Had to get towed and was found to have "no problem" as car was operating when arrived at the service shop. 9/9/14- driving to work in rush hour traffic. Going 35mph up a hill and car stopped shifting. Car was still moving (slowly) and I was able to pull into a residential driveway to get out of traffic. Car would not move after restarting. Tow truck came and towed to service center. All issues related to faulty cvt transmission that Audi is aware of, but will not take responsibility for due to the car being over 10 years old (it was 10 years 6 months at the first incident). I have contacted Audi USA to discuss these safety concerns with the car stalling in traffic and possible recalls that should be issued, but they have offered no assistance.

60 Power Train problem of the 2010 Audi A4

Failure Date: 05/23/2014

Nothing.

61 Power Train problem of the 2006 Audi A4

Failure Date: 08/01/2013

In October 2006, purchased a new 2006 Audi A4 from carousel Audi in golden valley, mn. The car was well maintained and has less than 62,000 miles today. In late summer of 2013, I began noticing that the car jerked heavily when putting it into reverse from a parked position. The car has an automatic transmission and I then began noticing the car not accelerating properly and laboring when nearing 50 mph on the highway. The motor would rev up and make an unusual sound and it was too dangerous to drive on the highway. I brought the car to the Audi dealer and they advised me that the transmission and computer module were not communicating properly and that it needs a new module at a cost of about $3800. They refused to pay for any of the repairs. When I asked both them and Audi north America about a class action lawsuit regarding similar problems with 61,000 other Audi owners across the u. S. , they refused to discuss the matter. I believe that Audi has knowingly made and sold a defective vehicle that is dangerous and poses great risk to its owner and other drivers on the road. I believe that Audi should be forced to stand behind their product and recall vehicles with this well documented defect and pay for my repair as well as for other owners who have similar problems.

62 Power Train problem of the 2005 Audi A4

Failure Date: 03/30/2013

Sitting, stopped in my driveway, shifted into reverse, (r was lit on dash) yet when I released brake peddle car went foreword; it was in (d) drive! I quickly moved shift lever to park (p) and back to reverse, this time it really was in reverse.

63 Power Train problem of the 2013 Audi A4

Failure Date: 02/15/2013

My driveway is on a slight down-slope. When parked there with my Audi A4 2. 0t's front end facing down with my foot on the break, I put my Audi in reverse, move my foot from brake to the gas pedal and attempt to back up the down-slope, but my Audi aggressively rolls forward as I continue trying to accelerate to back up. I can roll forward 3' to 6' before reverse gear kicks in and when it does the launches backward at a high rate of speed out driveway into the path pedistrains who I've nearly hit and goes on into street traffic where I have almost been hit. Also, when parked on the street the back breaks lock and will not release without more gas then they suddenly release with a noise launching the Audi forward at a high rate of speed. The Audi deal has confirmed these conditions and says they are norman. I disagree and have found it dangerous and scary as I'm behind the wheel but not in control of my Audi. It's analogous to turning the steering wheel left but the car goes right for six feet then suddenly veers right. I need this situation corrected as I can not use the Audi fully and safely.

64 Power Train problem of the 2005 Audi A4

Failure Date: 12/26/2012

The transmision stalled; it was as if the car lost power but the engine was steel running.

65 Power Train problem of the 2005 Audi A4

Failure Date: 08/15/2012

Driving on interstate 376 through squirrell tunnel the car started to hop. Sputter and just stopped. The dashboard started flashing. After 5 minutes the car restarted and took it to the shop where it was determined the transmission needed replaced. This caused a horrific traffic jam and almost was rear ended.

66 Power Train problem of the 2004 Audi A4

Failure Date: 08/08/2012

I bought a 2004 Audi A4 with only 92k miles on it, on my way home with the car I heard this weird noise every time accelerate in first gear as soon as I change to second its gone. After doing some research on-line I noticed that alot of people have the same problem, then I started to wonder if Audi manufacturing company had a recall seeing that its such a common problem. Thats how I ended up on this website.

67 Power Train problem of the 2006 Audi A4

Failure Date: 08/03/2012

Our 2006 Audi A4 has a failed mechatronics unit at 85,000 miles. The car does not shift correctely and experiences fluxuating rpm while driving. The cost to repair is over $5000 on a $15,000 vehicle.

68 Power Train problem of the 2009 Audi A4

Failure Date: 05/24/2012

I have obtained this car as a used car. Engine oil was changed one week after I have the car at a mechanic shop. Three weeks (about 500miles driving) later, a low engine oil alarm sounded. I brought the car back to the same mechanic shop and add a quart of oil to the engine. A couple weeks later, I was driving the car to a road trip. The low oil alarm sounded again. This was in the middle of my road trip when I was driving in the highway (about 500miles since last oil addition) at about 75mph. I have to get off the high way right away and went to a local mechanic shop to top off the oil. I was told by a mechanic that this is dangerous because if I couldn?t find a mechanic shop in time to add more engine oil, the engine would have been overheated, locked, and forced to stop right away. Under this scenario, a serious collision with the cars behind or next to me might be caused if driving on the highway. Upon research, it was discovered that this abnormal amount of engine oil consumption has been a common problem/complaint in this model of car due to the defects in the piston rings. In most cases, the piston rings were replaced under the manufacturer warranty. My car is just out of warranty with 57k miles on it. The dealer should be responsible fixing this problem as it is a serious safety problem and it was defected from the manufacturer.

69 Power Train problem of the 2008 Audi A4

Failure Date: 12/30/2011
