5 Wiring problem of the 2011 BMW 328

Failure Date: 08/01/2020

Tl the contact owns a 2011 BMW 328i. The contact stated that the vehicle experienced failures with the air conditioning system and the convertible top. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that there was an electrical wiring issue with the vehicle. Upon investigation, the contact linked the failure to NHTSA campaign number: 17v676000 (electrical system) however, the VIN was not included. Neither the manufacturer nor the dealer were notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 105,000.

6 Wiring problem of the 2014 BMW 328

Failure Date: 02/20/2020

I was driving my car as usual, made a left hand turn, and a notice came on the dashboard alerting me that the left rear turn signal and left rear brake light were not functioning. As this is very concerning, I immediately took the car to the nearest BMW dealership for analysis. They told me that there was an electrical issue and that the entire wiring harness in the left rear would need to be replaced at a cost of $905. It was at this point that I wanted to get a second opinion, so I had my local mechanic take a look. He told me that there were scorch marks where the ground wire connected into the wiring harness, and that the ground pin that it connected to on the other side was entirely eroded. He suggested the reason behind this was that BMW used an inappropriate gauge connector for the current that was being transmitted, causing erosion over time. He was able to order genuine BMW replacement parts and installed them for a fraction of the price quoted at the dealership. This is very concerning to me because of the risk of a potential electrical fire.

7 Wiring problem of the 2014 BMW 328

Failure Date: 02/20/2020

On Feb 20, 2020, I took my car to BMW dealership because I had a left rear signal and brake malfunction. I was given an estimate of approximately 600. 00. Based upon my understanding of this issue, this is a manufacturer issue. The circuit board, connector, and wiring must be replaced. After further research, I found that there have been two recalls for this very same issue, but for older model BMW's. Please reference 13v407000 and 17v6766000. BMW also issued a service bulletin to fix this issue. Please reference sib63-0611. Also reference 11v-438 campaign. It is apparent that BMW's are still being produced with the ground wiring issue. If you visit bimmerfest, you will see how many BMW's from 2010- 2014 are still being effected by this issue. If older models were recalled for this issue, newer ones with the same issue should also be recalled, and fixed free of charge. I am currently driving a vehicle with a faulty left rear brake light, and left rear signal light which is a safety hazard. I am requesting that BMW pay for the repairs as this is a manufacturing problem, not operator error or wear and tear. Please reference the complaint filed on 3. 3. 20 11315965.

8 Wiring problem of the 2007 BMW 328

Failure Date: 10/08/2019

My car caught on fire while sitting in the driveway due to a faulty wiring harness that BMW failed to notify owners about. The car had not been driven in several weeks. If the car was in the garage multiple fatalities could have occured.

9 Wiring problem of the 2011 BMW 328

Failure Date: 09/01/2019

BMW of north America, llc (BMW) is recalling certain 2006-2011 323i, 325i, 325xi, 328i, 328xi, 330i, 330xi, 335i, 335xi and m3, 2007-2011 328i xdrive, 335i xdrive and 335is and 2009-2011 335d vehicles. The wiring and electrical connectors for the system that controls air flow for the heating and air conditioning system may overheat. Consequence wiring that overheats could cause the electrical connectors to melt, and increase the risk of a fire, even when the vehicle is unattended. I have been smelling burning rubber and at times it looks as if the car is smoking. I was notified of the matter but was out on bed rest due to high risk pregnancy. I did have the car serviced. Please advise!.

Failure Date: 04/01/2019

My 2011 328i started having problems with the windshield washer motor, then the heater motor cutting in and out, during a severe thunderstorm, put all the windows down (keys hanging on a rack inside my house) shorting out the center console module. Then the car was put away for the winter, the battery would not keep a charge, tried starting in the spring and the ecu electrical board fried out, this was not covered by factory or auto insurance (total cost for repairs $4500. 00) ultimate driving machine is a lie! 16 Wiring problem of the 2007 BMW 328

Failure Date: 10/18/2018

Has been over a year and there is still no remedy for the blower motor wiring recall nor the positive crankcase ventilation (pcv) valve heater. This is ridiculous. What if my vehicle is one of the ones that start on fire, then what? if there is a recall, there is obviously a serious potential problem, so why are manufacturers allowed to have an excessive amount of time to come up with the fix?.

17 Wiring problem of the 2008 BMW 328

Failure Date: 09/08/2018

Pulling into a parking space, smelled electrical burning. Stopped & getting out the car, saw flames coming from inside the car under the glove box. Had a fire extinguisher near by so we we're able to keep the flames from burning the entire car and the cars next to us. Insurance company says its the result of 10/25/17 blower motor wiring recall.

18 Wiring problem of the 2011 BMW 328

It has been 10 months and remedies are still not available for the pcv valve heater recall (17v-683) nor blower motor wiring (17v-676).

There have been 2 wiring recalls. One for blower motor and one for pvc wiring that have still shown no remedy available. Since oct2017. My engine service light on my dash has been on for a month now. My code trader is indicating the blower issue. Any way to find out when this will be fixed ? thank you.

21 Wiring problem of the 2008 BMW 328

Failure Date: 06/20/2018

Received 2 recall notices from BMW USA 11/17 and 11/17 for issues with the blower motor wiring and the engine pcv valve heater. Contacted my local dealership to have them fixed. Was advised that they did not have authorization from the national office to perform the repairs. When questioned about having the parts the service representative admitted that they could get the parts but would not be reimbursed for the repair because the national office had not authorized their use. Repeatedly check with them over the next several months. Received the same answer again and again. Contacted BMW USA directly through their customer service and spoke with their representative who stated that they did not have the parts to repair the known safety issues and were hoping to have them fixed later this year. When I informed them that the local dealership said they could get the parts they finally admitted that yes they had them but not enough to cover all the recalled vehicles so they were not authorizing repairs yet.

22 Wiring problem of the 2010 BMW 328

Failure Date: 06/08/2018

Recall campaign no 17v-683: pcv valve heater and 17v-676: blower motor wiring. The new recall BMW call stalling while driving. Car shuts off. I took my BMW to south motors BMW was due to the 3 recalls cause by the manufactures defect. The last recall was risk of engine completely stalling(stopping) while driving which happen to me while driving on a city street with children in the car. We met with a BMW service advisor and he said that south motors BMW service more than 100 BMW since last year and they are only fixing the BMW's as a courtesy. He than stated he had to order a couple of parts for the recall, to give him a couple of days. He called the very next day and said the parts were in and advise that he have to charge a fee because his technician have to get paid. He gave us a price of more than $3,000 and said this is nothing, we charge the last customer for her BMW $12,000 we are giving you a good price. It gets worse they kept my BMW for another 5 days, smash the front of my BMW. The manager stated he is not sure who smash the front of my BMW, he said about 7 workers were driving my car while it was being service for the recalls. I was in tears, he looked at me and said it's just a car.

There was no fire report filed. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that the blower motor and harness needed to be replaced. A local dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not repaired. The vehicle was included in NHTSA campaign number: 17v676000 (electrical system). The manufacturer was contacted and notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 79,000. Ah.

24 Wiring problem of the 2011 BMW 328

Failure Date: 04/01/2018

I received initial notice of important safety recall from BMW November 2017, #1 no. 17v-676 blower motor wiring, and #2 no. 17v-683 pcv valve heater. The notice said "remedy unavailable" in both cases. It is now April 2018 and when I go onto the NHTSA site I still get that the remedy is not available. I feel this is a case of the BMW center being "unable to remedy the defect within a reasonable period of time," and am therefore informing you of this issue.

25 Wiring problem of the 2011 BMW 328

Failure Date: 03/07/2018

Received recall notifications (pcv valve and wiring for heating and air-conditioning) at the end of 2017. Have checked and rechecked with dealership to get the repairs. Finally called BMW USA and was told no parts available until late spring or early summer??!! meanwhile, article in the la times said that repairs would begin in December, 2017 and quoted a BMW official as advising "park your car outside" (in case the thing just ignites by itself while parked?). --and for those of us who cannot do that? why do they say that customer safety is their #1 priority?! it is outrageous.

26 Wiring problem of the 2008 BMW 328

Failure Date: 02/24/2018

I received recall notice for airbag, pcp valve heater, and blower motor wiring. In 2013-2015 my BMW was shaking heavily and scarily while driving and sitting at red lights. I spent $5,306 over 5 different bills from 4/1/2013 through 12/18/2015 which I will attach. As of today, 2/26/2018 the car is at the shop and a number of issues were presented including spark plug ignition, power steering in 3 points (reservoir suction hose, flush fluid), rear differential, pinion seal, both axle seals, needed reseal and rebuilt, motor valve covers, leak in suspension, and additional issues I could barely keep up with writing down as the mechanic was speaking them over the phone. He estimate $4,800 (this was midas, it would be more at the rockville BMW in rockville MD).

27 Wiring problem of the 2007 BMW 328

Failure Date: 02/02/2018

I received notice of a potential airbag recall for my car. When I went to airbagrecall. Com website and entered my car info. I was given 2 recalls (not the airbag) that were issues in October. (pvc valve heater; blower motor wiring) it has already been 3 months since the recalls were issues and when I called to schedule an appt to have them resolved. I was told parts would not be available for 2-6 months. I consider 5-9 months to get safety issues on my car resolved unreasonable. The manufacturer obviously knew about the problem before the recall was even issued. They have had ample time to identify the quantity needed and ramp up production!.

28 Wiring problem of the 2007 BMW 328

Failure Date: 01/13/2018

The blower on my BMW 328i stopped worked. Shortly thereafter, I received two initial safety recall notices 17v-683 (pcv valve heater) and 17v-676 (blower motor wiring). I took my car to BMW of sterling on 01/13/2018. I brought copies of the two safety notices with me and I provided them to the service agent. The service agent said there was no remedy available and they would replace the blower and charge me $505 for parts/labor. I said this was unacceptable and I asked to speak to a service manager. The service manager reiterated what the agent said. If in the future it was determined to be related, I would get my money refunded. I said this was unacceptable and I left. BMW knowingly let me leave with a safety issue. In my opinion this is detrimental reliance.

29 Wiring problem of the 2008 BMW 328

Failure Date: 01/04/2018

Schomp BMW, 1190 plum valley ln, highlands ranch, colorado 80129 is selling Bmws affected by the NHTSA BMW us recall to repair the blower motor wiring harness. VIN: wbavc93588k042180, knowingly still under recall, was sold by their dealership in the past 60 days.

30 Wiring problem of the 2010 BMW 328

Failure Date: 12/28/2017

This vehicle was subject to two recalls pertaining to the blower motor wiring and pcv valve heater. The vehicle started to smoke and was taken to the dealer on January 8, 2018. The actual notice of recall was sent out to owners, prior to that. It is now April 12, 2018 and I have heard nothing regarding the repairs to this problems. The dealer to which I took the vehicle said, only "we have no idea - it could be months". This is unacceptable, and I am wondering what my remedies might be. I now have an inoperable vehicle, utilizing a parking space that I pay for and, although BMW is paying for a rental car, it is not a BMW. Thank you for your assistance.

31 Wiring problem of the 2011 BMW 328

Failure Date: 11/28/2017

Blower motor wiring and positive crankcase ventilation (pcv) valve heater. Car feels hot sometimes I went to the dealer already and was told someone would call me back is been over 2 months already.

32 Wiring problem of the 2011 BMW 328

Failure Date: 11/23/2017

When will the wiring recall for my car be completed? I need some sort of updated information, as my car is sitting due to signing a form stating I will not drive until the repairs are done. This is causing other issues such as dead battery, possible tire dry rot etc. . . . Due to sitting for so long I'm the weather without moving. Will any other damages or faults be covered due to this?.

33 Wiring problem of the 2007 BMW 328

Failure Date: 11/21/2017

I have a recall for my BMW 07 328xi since November 2017. The recalls are blower motor wiring and pcv valve heater. Problem not resolve.

34 Wiring problem of the 2011 BMW 328

Failure Date: 11/03/2017

On Nov. 3,2017, BMW announced fire danger due to blower motor wiring and a pcv heater. Neither of these repairs sounds complicated (replace wiring) but five months later, BMW on their website continues to say a "remedy not yet available". This delays suggests that BMW is not prioritizing or taking these dangers seriously. Nhtsa needs to encourage BMW to expedite this recall for the safety and peace of mind of BMW owners.

35 Wiring problem of the 2008 BMW 328
