2 recalls needed: 17v-676: blower motor wiring and 17v-683: pcv valve heater. Got a letter from BMW saying these recalls are not ready but my car has a really bad burning smell from the air vents and need it fixed as soon as possible.

I was notifiied by snail mail of two recalls (17v-676: blower motor wiring and 17v: pcv valve heater) last November 2017 and, as of today, they have no remedies. . . Both defects can cause fires so it seems serious. My vehicle is currently running fine but it is in the back of my mind and keeping me from taking the car on an extended trip. Is there anything you can do to hurry BMW along or provide a status?.

I have been notified by BMW of blower motor wiring recall in oct. 2017, and have yet to hear from BMW about any further process in addressing their problem. Are they really required to do anything about fixing their problem, other than sending out a notice?.
Received recall notices in October 2017 for positive crankcase ventilation (pcv) valve heater and blower motor wiring. BMW has not contacted us since then to do the repairs, and recall websites state they're not yet ready to do repairs. It's been almost a year! this is a failure on their part to remedy a safety measure in a timely manner.

Blower motor : this recall involves the wiring for the system, known as a blower-motor, that controls air flow for the heating and air conditioning system. Over time, the connection between the wiring and this system could deteriorate and, in rare cases, could lead to overheating. BMW has instructed people with theses vehicles to avoid parking in their garage due to potential fire risks. Pcv valve: this recall involves an engine component known as the positive crankcase ventilation (pcv) valve heater. The pcv valve heater may not have been produced to specifications. Over time, it could deteriorate and, in rare cases, could lead to overheating. Notification of recall occurred 10/25/2017, as of January 23, 2018. BMW still has no remedy or anticipated date for completing needed repairs.
The contact owns a 2011 BMW 328. While driving 45 mph, the contact heard an explosion coming from the air conditioner/heating system. The contact noticed fumes coming from the vents. The contact pulled the vehicle over to the side of the road and turned off the engine. Upon restarting the vehicle, the air conditioner failed to operate. The contact mentioned that during the winter season, condensation appeared on the windows when the heating system was activated. The vehicle was taken to park Ave BMW (530 huyler st, south hackensack, NJ 07606, (201) 843-4999) where it was diagnosed that the blower motor wiring needed to be repaired. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The contact received a recall notice for NHTSA campaign number: 17v676000 (electrical system). The failure mileage was 73,450. VIN tool confirms parts not available.

The contact owns a 2011 BMW 328xi. The contact stated that there was a faulty electrical failure that progressed with the vehicle prematurely. The vehicle was taken to the dealer (fields BMW of daytona, 1050 n tomoka farms rd, daytona beach, FL 32124, (386) 274-1200). The power distribution box and wiring were replaced. The manufacturer stated that the vehicle was excluded from an electrical recall and provided no solution. The approximate failure mileage was 45,000.
Plastic insulation has cracked and peeled on all wiring inside my front headlight housings. Exposed wiring creates a potential short circuit and fire hazard.
The contact owned a 2008 BMW 328xi. While the vehicle was parked in front of the contact's house, it caught fire. The origin of the fire was behind the glove compartment, which caused the air bag to deploy. A fire report was filed and the fire was extinguished by the fire department. There were no injuries. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The vehicle was declared destroyed by the fire department and the insurance adjuster. The failure mileage was approximately 126,000.

Headlamp wiring insulation is flaking off. All insulation of all wires in both headlamps has totally deteriorated within eight years of manufacture leaving exposed wires creating potential short circuit and fire hazard. BMW's solution is to buy another headlamp at $1,500 each which, presumably, will also deteriorate within the next seven to eight years!.
The vehicle automatically unrolls all windows and the moonroof whenever it rains. This is flooding and ruining the vehicle, and causing moisture to enter the electrical system and cause a significant fire hazard. There is a burning smell from the electrical system. The issue, which is well known on the blogosphere, is due to a faulty and improperly installed wiring harness (installed crooked), an electrical short in pins 18 and 19 for the door lock actuator, and improper moisture sealing for the harness and actuator. The manufacturer refuses to acknowledge or address the issue.
BMW recall campaign nos. 17v-683 (pcv valve heater) and 17v-676 (blower motor wiring) were issued in November 2017 and to date replacement parts are not available. What is the holdup? luckily, I have not yet had any problem but, as noted in the recalls, failure of either of these systems could lead to a fire.
