I have a code passanger restraint failure that will not come off unless I pay $2700 to fix. This coding came on after 3 months of getting the vehicle and I’m not the only with the same issue. This is a dangerous situation that BMW is not recalling but putting this as the owners expense. If I were to get in an accident this will not deploy airbags or open the seat belt this can cause sever injuries or worst death.

Passenger restraint system malfunction goes off and on.
The contact owns a 2021 BMW 530i. The contact stated that the edge of the air bag leather cover was folding in, which enlarged the split between the air bag cover and the steering wheel. The vehicle was taken to an unknown dealer, where it was inspected, and the dealer informed the contact that the air bag leather cover was of poor quality. The dealer recommended the air bag replacement. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was provided. The manufacturer referred the contact to the NHTSA hotline to report the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 18,000.
I parked my car and there were not any lights on the showing. When I returned to my car about an hour later 2 lights were shown (1) 4 wheel drive and (2) passenger restraint system. I am concerned about the passenger restraint system because until I can get this repaired, no one can use the passenger seat because of this safety issue.

Passenger restraint system malfunction. L.
Car randomly shows “passenger restraint system malfunction”. I have read multiple complaints from other BMW owners about this issue that is not covered under BMW warranty.
It keeps coming up with the error message passenger restraint system malfunction.
My car is producing a warning light for "passenger restraint system malfunction". This is a safety hazard and it is not covered by warranty. I believe this should be investigated and a recall should be mandated as many people have this issue. The cost to fix is over $2,500 and BMW should bear the cost of this safety issue.
The car is reporting that there is a passenger restraint system malfunction. When there is a passenger in the front seat, the airbag is disable.
I am unknown of what system has failed but the issue is that while the car is in motion, it will completely shut off. All electrical will disengage and there have been times where a pop up has come on my screen stating that air bags and seat belts are non functioning to get to a service station as soon as possible. It has happened multiple times while driving on a large highway. This is a severe safety issue and I am so thankful I have not suffered serious injuries due to a major accident. The vehicle is unsafe and I do not feel comfortable driving it with myself nor guest in the car.

I recently took my vehicle in for a service due to "passenger system restraint" error code. Upon dealer inspection it would cost upwards of 4,000$ to fix this issue. I called my warranty company and they do not warranty any repairs that have to do with restraint systems. This seems to be a widespread issue from what I have read. This can really cause a major issue if the seatbelt for the passenger side does not work upon a collision. This has to be putting people in a serious situation and should be investigated. Thanks for your time.
The contact owns a 2006 BMW 530. The contact stated that the pass air bag warning light had been illuminated for a month. The contact stated that two years ago he had a recall completed for the passenger air bag. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired by an independent mechanic or dealer. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure but they provided no assistance. . The failure mileage was approximately 224,500.

There is a sensor that has malfunctioned under the passenger seat. This passenger restraint sensor is meant to detect a person in the seat so the airbag can deploy. The problem is that I’m oder to fix this send the cost is over $2,000. It’s not concerned by BMW although it’s part of their safety design.
We were involved in a car accident. We were traveling through a traffic circle. The other car that was entering the circle failed to yield or even slow down and hit my car. The rear passenger side door was hit. I was driving and thrown into the driver door and my hip is injured. My son was riding in the back seat behind the driver and he was knocked into the window and was knocked unconscious. I was wondering why the side airbags did not deploy. I reported this to my local dealer who sent me an article about side airbags. There were no warnings or indications anything was wrong with any of the systems. It is a 2022 model car.

The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 19v273000 (engine and engine cooling) and 22v119000 (engine and engine cooling) however, the parts to do the recall repairs were not yet available. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repairs. The contact stated that air bag and seat belt warning lights were illuminated. The contact took the vehicle to the dealer and was informed that air bag and seat belt needed to be repaired. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage 100,000. VIN tool confirms parts not available.
The contact owns a 2006 BMW 530i. The contact stated that upon starting the vehicle the "passenger airbag" light comes on and stays on. Additionally the check engine light, and the brake warning light had come on. The contact had not taken the vehicle to a dealer to be diagnosed. The issue is a recurring issue. The vehicle had not been repaired. The manufacturer had not been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 127,000.
Passenger restraint system malfunction. This is what randomly and constantly pops up. The fasten seat alert goes off the whole time I’m riding, although no one is in the passenger seat. I took it to the BMW service center twice and each time they keep my vehicles for hours, just to say they couldn’t duplicate the issue.
Passenger restrain system malfunction where airbags will not deploy if car is in accident. This seems as an issue with Bmws and they had recall before on certain models and years, dealers do not want to process claims under manufacturing warranty to fix an issue even the car is still under manufacturing warranty. Claiming that water could have been spilled seems very convenient not to fix this issues. I took my car to dealer and they ran diagnostic test and charge me $200 to tell me to turn heat in the seat because moisture, sound unfair. Week after that same message came on I am not sure how it is legal for BMW dealers to clear code and send people home and tell them to turn heat in the seat and hopefully problem goes away. Which it did not and there should be recall for this issue especially if airbags are concern.
The contact owns a 2007 BMW 530xi. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the air bag warning light illuminated. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired by an independent mechanic or dealer. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The contact related the failure to NHTSA campaign number: 13v564000 (air bags) however, the VIN was not included in the recall. The failure mileage was approximately 150,000.
Approximately two months ago (March 2021) the instrument panel airbag and seat belt warning lights had begun to remain on. The BMW dealer determined it was a faulty front passenger air bag occupancy sensor mat which was then replaced and repaired at the owner's expense. This defect was specifically covered in a service information bulletin sb-10056703-9690, dated September 2014, which superseded si b01 09 14, dated August 2014, which extended BMW's limited warranty to 15 years, without mileage limitation, if the warning light came on within the extended 15 year period. Unfortunately, BMW corporate determined this defect was not within the 15 year period based on the vehicle's in-service date. Said BMW is an original owner vehicle with less than 45,000 miles or driven an average of 3,000 miles per year.
Car gave a passenger restraint system malfunction error that has been identified in two prior NHTSA recall campaigns that include the the 2006 BMW 530i.
To whom it may concern: I have been contacted by a BMW recall person who has cleard my vehicle of having any problem with the airbag. However, I continue to receive recall notifications via mail. What needs to be done to stop the flow of paper to my mailbox?.

Fault in passenger-restraint system affecting airbag, belt tensioner or belt-force limiter.
My car was in my driveway. My complaint is I just bought the car from a friend of our family and everything was. About a month later when I start the car I get this error" fault in passenger restraint system effecting airbag-belt tensioner or belt for delimiter. So I call Bmwusa to see if this was recalled. The man I spoke with said yes it was but I let me have your VIN# OH no I'm sorry not for your VIN " I was shocked to think it would be a recall on one but not another. If it is effecting my air bag u would think. It would be a safety issue for all cars that get that error. Or was that car built knowing it was evenually going to go out and we the customers are going to have to pay for it. I would rather not have that at all. It makes no sense. Especially if your ok to fix some cars and not all of them after all why would we want something in the car if we know one its just going to go out and we have to pay for it. And for the safety part . It even sounds more crazy that something like that could malfunction and I not even sure if anybody should ride in my passenger seat. Well it's nellie sanchez at 323 571 9198 if you have any questions thank you for your tim and have a wonderful day. Good bless.
Passenger restraint warning light continues to illuminate intermittently after services were performed to remedy. Dealer diagnosis showed the seat module had moisture. Dried out. Worked ok for a few months then reoccurred. Next mechanic diagnosed faulty cis seat box. Replaced the module. Worked ok for a few months then reoccurred.
Got srs light asked the dealer to check it they told me that I have to change the dsc and it cost 5300. 00 because it is not responding to the air bag ?? the car have only 51000. 00 miles??.
I had an accident in my neighborhood on may 8, 2019. According to BMW's activation system the accident occurred at 6:58 pm. I talked with the BMW crash analyst team and I was going 17. 5 mph when I ran through two sets of scrubs, hit a garage door and ended parallel to the door. According to BMW the seat belt activated at time of impact with the first set of scrubs and within a millisecond the air-bag deployed. I received a broken back in this minor accident. It is my understanding the air-bag is to provide safety to the drivers upper torso and head. My upper torso and head received no injury from the accident or the air-bag. My assumption is the air-bag hit my lower waist area resulting in the l-1 fracture. Two titanium rods were also inserted to stabilize the l-2,3,4,5,11. When discussing this 'potential' fault with BMW n. A. It was indicated they do not have any idea how the air-bag will deploy and they are glad that I am ok aside from the broken back. If BMW does not understand how the air-bag will deploy is this not a manufacturing defect in testing for the deployment. If it deployed as understood to the upper torso and head, I would much rather have had a broken nose than a broken back!.
The air bag on passenger side is still saying fault in airbag on car system.
The front passenger seat occupant detection light is on due to the mat cushion failure. This is very common on BMW and most of them have a recall issued, but not for my 2007. Please advise as the dealership wants $1800 for a new one. Passenger airbag will not work unless replaced.
My message display is stating that the airbag on the front passenger seat occupant may not deploy in a crash due to cracks and fatigue which could lead to a system failure, this looks like it could have been a recall issue that I wasn't notified about.
I've been told by two european car repair companies that 2006 Bmws are frequently needing the airbag control modular replaced. There is an internal error on the airbag control unit- code 93d7. This part has not been recalled, and because of the exorbitant price, I was told that many drivers choose to disconnect the airbags. This should not be happening! is BMW reporting this issue? I called the corporate office and they seemed completely uninterested and/or unwilling to document my complaint. My vehicle was stationary at the time the warning was displayed.
