BMW X3 owners have reported 3 problems related to radiator (under the engine and engine cooling category). The most recently reported issues are listed below.

1 Radiator problem of the 2013 BMW X3

Failure Date: 07/06/2020

My engine was replaced in 2019 at a BMW certified dealership where I purchased. In July 2020 the car broke down and was towed in to BMW radiator was replaced and did not fix the problem. I was then told it was engine failure, that would not be covered. I have been without a vehicle for months.

2 Radiator problem of the 2019 BMW X3

Failure Date: 06/24/2019

The check engine light illuminated which resulted in a fault with the mechanical radiator flaps not opening or closing properly. The manufacturer has delayed a fix for six weeks now while they are fixing other models that may have had a higher sales price. Children are present in the vehicle and driving with a check engine light illuminated is discomforting.

3 Radiator problem of the 2008 BMW X3

Failure Date: 10/23/2013

I noticed water on the garage floor about a week ago and that the coolant was low. I took it to BMW dealer expecting a radiator leak. I was told that all 4 aluminum support bolts had been sheared and that the engine was resting on the water pump causing the leak. The solution, while covered by my extended warranty, is still costing me $50 deductible and another $200 or so to flush and replace the coolant (which was caused by the water pump damage). If I didn't have the warranty and was forced to pay for the labor, bolts, support brackets and a water pump - I would be even more irate that BMW hasn't issued a recall on this well known issue.
