2010 Cadillac Cts4 premium 3. 6 wagon I replaced the rear prop shaft of the awd system in January 2018. I now am having issues with the rear prop shaft yet again, not 2 years later. I believe the driveshaft carrier bearing is failing again (same as before)! with approximately 49k miles on it. I cannot believe that I have to replace this same item again. After having to replace the rear differential twice on this vehicle, I now believe gm has no clue to make a reliable awd vehicle. Worst car ever.

While driving heard clanking under the car for about 2 blocks then stoped. Took it to the dealer and found out 2 bolts had backed out of the drive shaft and one had sheared. Had the exact same problem with a 2011 Cts. I had purchased a warranty when I bought the car in 2018, car was repaired. I did notify Cadillac. Right front headlight has moisture. Understand Cadillac used inferior seals previously. Will need to replace. Light cost approximately $250. 00.

Tl the contact owns a 2012 Cadillac Cts. While driving 5 mph, the contact heard an abnormal sound underneath the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to moore Cadillac (located at 25450 pleasant valley rd, chantilly, va 20152, (703) 939-9351) where it was diagnosed that two driveshaft bolts fractured and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 65,318.
I purchased my vehicle in may 2016. In November 2016 I went to drive the vehicle but it would not go into gear. It was towed to lindsay Cadillac. I was told the draft shaft needed to be replaced. On January 18, 2019 after being parked for approximately 15 minutes upon starting and putting it into gear I heard a clicking noise. It was towed to capitol Cadillac where again I was told there was a problem with the drive shaft. I was further told that the bolts were sheared off. This is no coincidence that I had the same issue two years later and $841. 00 later. I am concerned that this could happen again. How do bolts get sheared off. I was told that the dealership could have used used the wrong size bolts or the parts could have been defective. In any event I am without fault and have a genuine concern that this could happen again. Could it happen while I am driving?.

Bolts backed out of drive shaft.
The passenger door does not open from the outside of the vehicle. The motor for the door lock failed. The driveshaft bolts broke and make a "flapping" noise when the vehicle is driven. My mechanic cannot find the replacement assembly and was told by Cadillac that it is unavailable at this time. Operating the vehicle is dangerous because the vehicle fails to accelerate in traffic. I contacted gm/Cadillac about the problems and was told there is nothing they can do because my vehicle is not under warranty and the door lock issue was on recall in 2013 and has expired. My concern is if I am involved in an accident with a passenger, first responders may not be able to safely remove the passenger because the door will not open from the exterior handle.

On the morning of October 19th, while driving approximately three miles from my home, an incredibly loud banging sound shocked me into stopping the car on the side of the road. It felt as if something was going to come through the floor and into the interior console of the car. Panic-stricken, I didn¿t want to move the car again. When I called my husband, he instructed me to drive extremely slowly to the very short distance of a local mechanic¿s garage. Upon inspection the mechanic found that the bolts on the driveshaft connected to the transmission were never torqued when the car was built at the gm plant. My mechanic informed me that the bolts unscrewed and fell into his hand without using a wrench and several of the bolts were sheared off, causing the driveshaft to come away from the transmission and almost penetrate the floor of the car. Needless to say the entire driveshaft had to be replaced with a new driveshaft. When this occurred the mileage was only 70,751 miles. This service was performed by blessing's service llc, 19 west shore trail, sparta, NJ 07871 at a cost of $1,024. 39. All other service performed on this car prior to this incident was performed by mechanics at my dealership, brogan Cadillac located in totowa, new jersey.
The contact owns a 2011 Cadillac Cts. While driving approximately 5 mph and making a right turn, the contact heard an abnormal noise coming from the vehicle. On another occasion, while driving 15 mph, the speedometer displayed 65 mph. In addition, while attempting to make a u-turn, the vehicle failed to accelerate and rolled away. The vehicle was towed to a dealer for diagnostic testing. The technician replaced the rear drive shaft center joint bolt. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 29,000.

S10 appropriate handling- letter to the secretary from constituents re copy of letter to mary barra, chairman and chief executive officer (ceo), general motors expressing dissatisfaction with after service care. The consumer stated there was a loud ticking noise coming from the vehicle, when it was started. The dealer inspected the vehicle, and assured the consumer the vehicle was dependable. On may 27, 2014 the consumer felt a mild vibration through the steering wheel. The dealer stated the balance was off, but everything was fine. The consumer had the vehicle towed to the dealer. The consumer explained to the dealer about the vibration tear in the cloth shield he discovered, the tow truck driver brought two of the four that held the drive shaft together to the service representative. The dealer informed the consumer the vibration tear was a cigarette burn, and the drive shaft bolts falling out of the vehicle and bearing failure were issues address several times before. After the vehicle was returned to the consumer, there was low pitched whistle during light to moderate acceleration, which he did not hear when he first purchased the vehicle. Also, there was a light weight oil/fluid leaking from under the engine area. He noticed the fuel consumption range had dropped from 17-18 mpg to 15 mpg. The rear end felt less stable and there was a slight shift when coming off driveways or over uneven pavement. (2011 Cadillac Cts).

While driving on the highway under normal operating conditions, my properly maintained and unmodified 2005 Cadillac Cts caught fire. The fire caused significant damage to the drive train and fuel tank with the plastic fuel tank seconds away from being totally breached by flames and likely significant injuries including death. The fire burned for 30-40 minutes until the responding firefighters were able to jack up the vehicle and extinguish the fire with water from underneath. Fortunately, the firefighters were able to extinguish the vehicle fire prior to the fuel tank breach with no apparent related injuries. Pursuant to an expert analysis and report, the following manufacturing and/or design defects sequentially caused said fire: 1. While driving, the rear carrier pinion bearing failed; 2. Failed carrier pinion caused excessive play in the pinion gear; 3. Excessive play in the pinion gear caused failure of the pinion gear seal in the ring and pinion housing; 4. Failed pinion gear seal allowed the rear carrier lubricant to leak; 5. With vehicle in motion, rear carrier lubricant contacted rotating driveshaft assembly; 6. Rotating driveshaft and pinion yoke "sprayed" lubricant in the rear axle housing area including onto exhaust, plastic fuel tank, rubber driveshaft coupler and floor pan; 7. Heat from exhaust or pinion gear ignited lubricant & subsequent fire quickly spread across the bottom of the vehicle. Expert report concluded that manufacturing and / or design defects were previously well-documented by nhsa 2005 Cadillac Cts nhsa owner complaints and said fire could have been prevented by vehicle manufacturer through recall notices and use of non-combustible materials.
