1 Steering Column problem of the 2009 Cadillac CTS

Failure Date: 09/30/2020

Just like many other gm's the steering wheel will stick while driving and release in one direction of the other. It has caused us almost to have a head on collision. I have taken to dealership 2 and they have no remedy for this issue. They said they could change the steering column but can't guarantee it will fix the issue. They have test drive and have duplicated the same locking and sticking while driving. I'm afraid to drive this car and the gm dealer has no diagnosis to solve this issue. The steering wheel will lock and violently take a sharp turn when it unlocks.

2 Steering Column problem of the 2013 Cadillac CTS

Failure Date: 10/16/2019

The electrically adjustable steering wheel has two bolts that hold the up down bracket on the steering wheel. One bolt fell out and the other one was loose. The locktite blue was only on one thread. If you check the news groups it seems like a common problem on the Cts. I think this should be a recall due to the fact if the other bolt fell out the steering column would flop around causing the driver to loose control.

Within one week of purchase we noticed that the car is pulling to the left causing a new driver to over correct and drift into the right lane. This is extremely dangerous. Dealer is replacing steering column. 27000 miles.

6 Steering Column problem of the 2006 Cadillac CTS

Failure Date: 11/05/2007

Rubbing noise in steering column. Sounds like plastic being stressed when turning steering wheel. Vehicle has been serviced on 3 occasions (grommets lubricated) at 2 different Cadillac dealerships and noise has not been eliminated. Will be returning Cts back to dealer again in the next few days. Also noted popping noise in dash panel. Noise noted as a flaw in design of vehicle be one dealer unrepairable. Noise detracts from pleasure of owning a Cadillac.

7 Steering Column problem of the 2005 Cadillac CTS

Failure Date: 08/15/2005

The car being reported about was my car, was three months and a Cadillac Cts. I was driving at approx. 25 miles per hr. The car steering failed, pulled to the right, couldn't be stopped nor steered and crashed into three trees and finally came to a stop in the intersection of another street. The car wouldn't stop, or turn, etc. It just seemed to lift to the right and hit one tree, then another, then another and finally stopped in an intersection. It was totaled, terrible damage; I had a broken wrist. Recently within the last two years I have read in the newspaper about 2 fatalities driving this model car, both seemingly went out of control. One hit a utility pole, another hit a grating and flew into trees.
