Battery Problems of Cadillac Deville

2000 Cadillac Deville dts has the vehicle battery under the rear passenger seat. I was replacing the factory battery in August 2006 after purchasing the vehicle from a private party. There was powdered acid accumulated under and around the battery, near the positive terminal. The battery acid has corroded the metal of the car body, resulting in a through and through hole in the car. I will have this repaired by a body shop. I have been told by another Cadillac Deville owner, 2001 model, that this is a common problem. I am concerned that any further corrosion could cause catastrophic failure of the car body supporting the battery. The car battery would then fall onto the roadway, possibly presenting a serious hazard to other drivers.

Acidic order within car. 2002 Cadillac Deville, battery leaked and ate a hole in the floor. Service bulletin issued but no notice sent to owners. A rubber or plastic tray should have been installed through a recall. The battery in this model and year automobile is located under the rear seat and is not readily accessible for checking by the owner. Cost to repair exceeded $1800.

2002 Deville stalls at low speed without warning. Loss of steering and hard braking.

Ltr fm consumer (FL) re his 2002 dts Cadillac Deville, battery leaked and ate a hole in the floor, feel leaking batteries should be recalled. The battery in this model and year automobile is located under the rear seat and is not accessible for checking by the owner.

: the contact stated while navigating slowly through a parking lot the vehicle lost power. After multiple attempts the vehicle was restarted. When the vehicle was restarted the battery warning light came on and went back. The vehicle was driven directly to the dealership. They were unable to identify the cause of the problem through the vehicle's built in diagnostic system.

The contact states the battery leaking acid. The battery was located in the passenger's compartment. This caused a hole in the vehicle. The contact and wife sustained injuries. He burned his sinuses when removing the battery. The fumes caused the contact's wife skin to dry out and flake off from her neck to feet. The manufacturer offered to repair the hole after he paid for an evaluation. The contact repaired the hole himself. He went to the service department to purchase a new battery, but they would no install it because the battery was located in the passenger's compartment. Updated 12/27/2005.

Positive terminal on the battery fell off the battery, causing the battery to leak, and burn a hole in the base of the battery compartment inside the vehicle under the back seat. Currently, vehicle has no electrical power.

Battery leak/explosion. Floor of car has hole from acid. Battery under seat. Fumes in car. . . Battery is under rear seat and presents possible danger to occupants in car. . . Consider for possible recall/nationwide inspection.

Battery terminal is dislodged from battery case and acid dripped out of it. Consumer lost all power. Dealer has been contacted. Battery was delco.

Consumer recently purchased a two-thousand one Cadillac Deville. Upon inspection of vehicle cosnumer found that battery was underneath rear seats of vehicle. Consumer felt unsafe, and returned vehicle to dealership. Please provide further details.

The battery eroded due to battery acid eating through the terminal connection bolt, the positive terminal broke free of the battery causing the battery to disconnect from the electrical system, the battery is located close to the engine which causes the battery to be subject to extreme heat.

Date of pickup of car serice anti-system can on systems would not work, came back for car next day drove car a few days, car sat for 4 days went to drive car, it was completly dead, had to be towed to dealership. Replaced battery 2 times now after happening serval times, also replaced 2 modules. This car has been in 5 times + 1 time again could not pick up because it acted up again, after service thought it was fixed. Now the security light has gone on again, and stayed on for 1hr till I reached my destination. This light would alway come on and stay on with the service anti- theft reading at the previous times. I do not feel save driving this car. I will not drive this car out of town, I feel at anytime I could be stranded from it not staring. This car is a lemon.

Consumer stated that the vehicle was not starting and towed to the dealer twice, dealer identified the problem as battery leaking acid, which corroded the positive cable, dealer replaced the battery, cleaned acid from tray and replaced positive cable.

Passenger's side mirror will not stay adjusted. Consumer has taken it into dealer about 15 times for electrical problems. After adjusting mirror, and turning away, and when looking at mirror again, consumer may be looking at the sky. Consumer feels this is unsafe because when changing lanes, driver doesn't know if another car is coming or not. Also, door locks, will lock consumer out of vehicle. When vehicle is first started in the morning, it feels like it is turning on 6 cylinders. Door locks do not work properly, sliding door has been opened while vehicle has been in motion, remote unlock button inoperable. Power window needed adjusted. Consumer states there is a loud noise in the front of the vehicle, dealer has made adjustments to front and rear caster, camber, and toe in. Dash blinks in and out, dealer found grounds to battery were corroded. Center vent on dash will not stay in place. Front rotors out of round twice, rear rotors out of round once, front brake pads worn. Battery shorted.

Battery leaked.

Battery cracked and was leaking.

After turnin iginition switch on battery exploded, cause unknown. Please give any further details.

Battery was located under the rear seats towards the center. The positive terminal fell off and allowed acid to drip under the seat. Passengers were exposed to the smell of acid reaction, fumes, and eyes burning.

Battery wouldn't hold charge. Yh.
