The disc mounting assembly of the rear brakes is held in place by a single undersize screw on each side. This screw can shear, resulting in the pedal going to the floor with a complete loss of braking ability.

On 11/08/99 test drove car, complained of brake problem, jerking of vehicle when I applied the brakes. Dealership repl frt pads & cut rotors on 11/8/99. Purchased car on 11/26/99, I complained the same day I purchased this vehicle that the brakes were still pulsating when applied. On 11/29/99 dealership refaced rear rotors, said they were out of round. On 5/23/01 I had the rear left rotor replaced and the other three refaced.

Intermittent problem: when depressing the brake pedal under normal braking, consumer noticed a very loud griding noise sound as if it's metal to metal coming from the front brakes. Consumer has contacted the dealer on four occasions. Dealer has attempted to correct problem, problem still occurs. Please provide any further details.
Front brake discs have warped and been ground twice in 27k miles for braking vibration. Condition getting worse. Dealers say this can be normal.
Front and rear brake pads and rotors are prematurely wearing, cause unknown. Please give any further details.
