I tried to explain to the dealership that unaware of the recall my cars breaks had failed and crashed my vehicle. They said the only thing that was affected was the key. I had told her that the result of my crash was from my breaks not working due to the recall. She told me no that that wasnt affected. I just want my car to be safe on the road as I have kids, and family that ride with me regularly.

The abs & traction control indicators come up on the screen along with check as I'm driving. When this happens my brakes make a weird sound like a sprung spring and the brakes feel like they're gone but they're not. It's scary be sure I feel I may not be able to stop which to me is a safety hazard. No codes show even though the check light came on, but none of the indicator lights ever stay on very long, it's off and on , off and on, just pops up occasionally, all 3 together every time. It may go days before they decide to pop up on the dash again. The first time this happen I was just heading out for work so the car has not been driven since the prior day it was stable on level ground as I started backing out of my driveway. When I reached the point to apply the brakes that's when the weird baked sound accompanied by the brake paddle feeling like my brakes weren't working and dash lights appeared. This happens during braking. I was told that the tire pressure sensor,/ monitor thing could be the cause. That's another thing. Why have tire pressure effect the workability 9f my brakes and traction control? they have nothing to do with tire pressure. Also the electric rear windows seem to be an issue since day one. Every owner of the 03 Cadillac Deville has complained of the windows just falling out of place both outside & inside the door for no reason other than a bad design defect. Why should the consumers continue to replace the windows at no fault of ours? gm has known of this issue from the first year of manufacturing, yet it is us, the buyers, consumers that are paying and not just out of money but the risk of broken glass hurting a backseat passenger a child or adult that could potentially become a law suite for gm. This is why it definitely should be a recall.
My 1998 Cadillac Deville needs a vital part to it's abs/traction control function. However, gm has discontinued making the part, (#19244918)with no available substitute. Therefore, leaving my car with no abs or traction control. Also, the transmission no longer engages 1st gear. (a supposed saftey measure)which in most cases, only puts my family's safety at risk. I do not understand how or if, gm can legally put profits before safety.

I was preparing to make a 270 degree left turn and I was attempting to turn the wheel and the steering wheel kept spinning while the car stayed in a forward motion. I attempted to press on the brakes and they had barely any brake pressure which resulted me to collide with a parked car that was in the first parking spot in the lot I was attempting to pull into. The operator in the parked vehicle I hit was taken to the hospital after sustaining injures due to the impact of the crash.

My complaint is about the remedy for recall #14v355. The July 2, 2014 letter to nancy lewis re:NHTSA notification campaign no. 14v-355 from brian latouf, gm, states on page 3 that "the torque performance of the ignition system may be insufficient to resist energy generated when the vehicle goes off road or experiences some other jarring event". This is the same ignition switch that gm hid from the public for years which resulted in 196 claims for death, 116 catastrophic injuries and 1,460 other injuries. Instead of replacing the faulty ignition switch for the recall, your organization is allowing gm to block the key from being placed on a key ring with house keys, the remote fob that comes with the vehicle to operate door locks, seat positioning, trunk release and panic alarm. And the gm provided Cadillac medallion that is used to return the key to me if it becomes lost. Most people need to keep house keys on the car key ring, and the fob is integral to using the vehicle. The recall fix being allowed by your agency is dangerous and wrong. Subsequent owners of the vehicles will not know about the recall and pop the little piece of plastic out of the key hole and attach all of their keys on one key ring. For current owners, this takes away one of the functions of the vehicle, the fob usage and makes life more difficult having to keep track of a single car key and their key ring with esential keys on it. According to the washington post, gm knew about the defect and changed the ignition switch part in newer vehicles using the same part number to avoid a recall as people were injured and died. Gm's fix leaves my car with its defective ignition switch which is still subject to catistrophic failure. Who are you protecting? gm? not me and I am terrified. I want my ignition switch replaced with one that is properly designed and manufactured for the safe use of my vehicle.

I noticed that my abs traction control light was on the dashboard console and when I push on the brakes the and the car was not stopping. The abs was engaging on dry pavement. I checked the onboard diagnostic tool on the Cadillac and I am getting an error code of tcs c1255 which is a faulty electronic brake control module/ electronic brake and traction control module. I noticed that there is a recall on this exact part that I am experiencing problems with reference NHTSA campaign number: 97v064000. I called Cadillac dealer and was told that my VIN does not come up with any recalls and there are not any recalls at all for 1997 Cadillac Deville. I am requesting that my VIN be added to the recall for the brakes and the fuel system recall. Thank you.

I was leaving a restaurant and as I was crossing the intersection my car shut off ,I got it started and as I got to the red light it shut off again so had to keep my foot on the brake and gas at the same time. Once I got back on the interstate I had no more problems. About 6 months later I was at mcdonalds drive-thru at 2am when my car shut off, I coasted into the closest parking space and my car locked up and I had no power at all and I was locked inside I manually unlocked my door got out of my car and I had to call aaa. My car would not crank when aaa man tried to jump under the hood, he had to take my backseat out to jump start it, he got it started and he told me he couldn't understand what happened. On another occasion my gas pedal sticks and I had to pull over and shut my car off and I waited about 5 minutes and started my car up and it was fine after that, and my car still shuts off most when I am idling or going slow thru town and my service stability warning steady runs, I turn the reset button and it comes back on , please help me fix these problems because I love my car.

A recall letter was sent to me, I contacted to gm to let them know their recall was a little too late and luckily I was not on the road when this happened I was in a store parking lot when this occurred. I experienced complete loss of brakes, steering and electrical. I thought it was a battery issue. I purchased a new battery. I had to carry the battery 3 miles each way, it was not the battery . Car was towed, repairs were found to be ignition problem and a module needed to be replaced, costing over $800, how do I get reimbursed for this? gm said they would get back to me and its been 3 weeks,I have heard nothing. I would appreciate your help. I have all the receipts and had we been told of the recall a big exspense might of been saved, how do I get some sort of claim form to get reimbursed?.

The contact owns a 2001 Cadillac Deville. While driving 15 mph, the contact heard a clicking sound and the brake pedal extended to the floor when it was depressed. The rod that inserts into the brake arm became completely detached. He managed to stop the vehicle by applying the emergency brakes and placing the vehicle into a lower gear. He drove to his residence and repaired the vehicle himself. The contact placed the rod back in place. He has scheduled an appointment with the dealer to complete the repair work. He believes a recall should be issued because the braking rods should not detach so easily from the vehicle. The current and failure mileages were 87,000. Updated 03/04/09. Updated 03/04/09.
Front wheel bearings have dangerously failed prematurely two times in 113,000 miles. Failed dangerously at 60,000 and 113000 miles. This resulted in front wheel shimmy (shaking steering wheel excessively) at high speeds and at all times when braking. Felt like I was loosing brakes when braking down a hill. When car is jacked up wheel rocked back and forth about 2 inches. Seems to me that this is a common problem on gm cars that use the cartridge type of wheel hub bearing assemblies as indicated by numerous post on the internet and my personal experience as an auto mechanic.
Brake pedal went to the floor, and the vehicle lost brake power. This occurred when the brake pedal was depressed to stop the vehicle after accelerating to 20 mph. This resulted in the consumer rear ending another motorist. The vehicle was towed to a dealership, who was unable to resolve the problem. As of 5/15/04 neither the gm inspector nor the insurance adjuster were able to provide a report.
While braking 20 mph consumer temporally lost brake power for 20 seconds or more. As the consumer was trying to gain control of vehicle brake resumed, and vehicle was able to come to a stop. Had taken vehicle to dealership, but the problem has not been resolved.
I pulled off the hwy and went to apply my brakes. They went to the floor and the car kept going. I pulled on my emergence brakes and the car stopped. The tow-truck driver said a piece had broke off the brake.
While driving at 20 mph, the consumer applied the brake, however there were no brakes. The vehicle was towed to the dealer. The dealer indicated the failure was due to a clip bushing which was holding the brake together. . The consumer had to use the emergency brake to stop the vehicle.
The contact owns a 1997 Cadillac Deville . Contact received NHTSA campaign id 97v064000 concerning electronic brake control module. The electronic brake and traction control module could cause the anti lock brake system (abs) to cycle during a non abs brake application. Dealership and the manufacturer stated that the recall work was already done, but even if the problem was fixed it could recur.
Consumer's vehicle experience the same defect with its service brakes as stated in recall 97 v 064 000. But this vehicle was not included in recall due to VIN.
