I tried to explain to the dealership that unaware of the recall my cars breaks had failed and crashed my vehicle. They said the only thing that was affected was the key. I had told her that the result of my crash was from my breaks not working due to the recall. She told me no that that wasnt affected. I just want my car to be safe on the road as I have kids, and family that ride with me regularly.

I was going to drop off some trash bags in dumpster around the block from my house. And was parked next to it at aptments street. I put the car in park tured off engine and remved the keys poped the trunk removed trash bags closed trunk and got back in driver seat placed key in just as always reall easy going and triyed to turn it for hour in hot sun then walked home called tow truck were we brought it home were I live my house and cost $164. 00 dollers and is in same condition as of now.

The independent mechanic diagnosed the vehicle and found that the security module failed and was due to a disconnection of the electrical system. The vehicle was taken to vinings enterprises inc. , dealer (770) 382-2007 904 n tennessee st, cartersville, GA 30120 where they informed the contact that nothing could be done. The vehicle was not repaired the manufacturer was not notified. Jw.

Takata air bag, do not know if that item is in my car but they say it is. Also like so many northstar engines there is trouble with the head gasket, and according to the hydrocarbon block test, mine must be replaced. In order to replace it, the engine and power train must be removed, at my expense. Due to this issue, my car continues to try and overheat after about 29 miles of driving. After listening to those folks on the Cadillac forum, I have been lead to believe, the overheating issue may be, partly the fault of the fine thread head bolts and or studs. Many mechanics I have spoken with have said that I need a new engine, although the folks on the Cadillac fourm have said that time-serts, or the larger studs/bolts might fix the issue. Never the less, with each Cadillac Deville dhs with the northstar engine I read about, the same issue exists for almost all of them, which indicates to me that there was an issue in the original design of possibly not using a large enough bolt/stud to begin with. Either that or Cadillac may have had a planned obsolescence type thing to get the drivers to keep replacing their automobiles. And they say recalls are not covering this design flaw. . . .

Tl- the contact owned a 1999 Cadillac Deville. The contact stated that while making a turn anti-freeze spilled onto the contact's foot. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the heating core burst due to an improper location and inadequate material. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact there was nothing they could do regarding the failure. The contact owns a 1995 Cadillac Deville. While driving approximately 55 mph, a large amound of smoke appeared from the front driver side. The contact pulled the vehicle over, opened the hood, and noticed flames. The contact extinguished the fire and the vehicle was towed to the residence. The vehicle was diagnosed that there was a fuel rail leakage. The vehicle was not repaired. The VIN was excluded from NHTSA campaign number: 04v110000 (fuel system, gasoline). At about 12:30 - 1:00 am in the morning the car was parked at my home in the driveway directly in front of the garage. Aaron the owner gets up to get something to eat when he looked outside the patio, he saw his car smoldering and than immediately burst into flames at the engine area. Called the fire department immediately and in the meantime tried to suppress the fire but not successful.

The contact owns a 1999 Cadillac Deville. After starting the vehicle, the engine misfired intermittently. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 111,000.

After taking off from a stop sign, I drove up over about 1 1/2 inch vertical rise in the pavement (small bump). The engine and electrical systems shut down. I lost power stirring and power brakes. I got stopped and restarted the engine. This occurred about 3 days after I had taken my car to the gm dealer for repairs covered by gm recall 14299, "unintended ignition key rotation". My key did not rotate. Yesterday April 2, 2015 when driving 45 mph on a state highway, the engine stopped again without hitting any bumps. I was able to coast, put the car in neutral, and restart the engine, before the car behind me could hit me. There was no shoulder to pull off. Again there was no key rotation. I called my gm dealer after the first occurrence and was told I would have to pay for a new ignition switch or what ever was causing the problem. The recall only removed all other keys from the ignition key ring. This is a very dangerous defect that gm needs another recall to fix this sudden engine and electrical system shut down because if there is a crash the air bags will not deploy. Also lost of power stirring and power brakes makes control of the car very difficult.

Loss control of steering and brakes on 4 sept and 7 sept 2014, at intersection of mahan drive and warden road; the vehicle stopped by curb of the street, all traffic stopped. Re-start engine. Luck was on my side.

Vehicle cuts off at random times while in motion. The car ignition cuts off all power to the engine and power steering when the car hits a bump, railroad track, or pothole. Bumping the column cover will also cut off the engine, and the power steering. The vehicle has had the key modification which would appear to have no affect on the problem of the ignition randomly rotating out of the on position.

While driving on a village street, the engine just stops. It has done this three or four times. I had my mechanic check the car diagnostic computer. It showed no faults. Glad it happens at 20mph in town, and not at 70 while on the highway. At least at low speed, I can wrestle the car to the shoulder!.

What is holding up the repairs? why send a letter instructing us to now get it repaired when the local dealer does not have the materials needed? very frustrating!!!!.

Customer was driving vehicle down road, all of a sudden coming up to a stoplight car suddenly died, at the same time white smoke came billowing out the back of the car, it caused a traffic hazard in which nobody could see her car, she was rearended, as well as the guy that rearended her. The occupant of the vehicle that rearended her ended up getting his nose broken when he hit his steering wheel. Vehicle taken to dealership and was determined that the rear head bolts had pulled from the block causing the head to separate from the block of the vehicle, quoted $4500 to repair and was told they could not warranty repair because it is a northstar engine. Vehicle then brought to me to get it repaired.

Driving into my drive way I noticed that my car pulled in very fast. Normally, I idle in my car into the drive way, this time it was much faster and the engine was very accelerated. I parked the vehicle and the engine was accelerated up to 1850rpm. I pressed the gas pedal to free up the throttle, it made is worst. The vehicle rpm increased up to 2835 rpm and stayed stuck at 2835 rpm. After 10 to 15 seconds the rpm slowly dropped down to 1500 rpm and stayed at these revolution. I had to turn off the vehicle. It's normal idle rpm are 675-700rpm. This is a safety hazard for some one that does not know what to do when driving at a busy highway or regular city streets.

My father purchased a 1996 sedan Deville brand new. He passed away in April 1998. My mother drove the car until this year. She gave me the car. The car has approx 17,000 miles. I just found out the car has a blown rear head gasket. I realize the car is 15 yrs old but I feel this should not have happened with such low mileage. The car was never abused and still smells new inside. Do I have any recourse with gm?.

2001 Deville car dies when ever it wants for no reason. Why has there been no recalls for this engine that is on many years. Sensors replacing does no good and the fuel filter change and fuel pump does no good. And replacing the battery does no good. It is the engine and no one has a cure. When someone gets killed maybe there will be a recall then.

9/30/10 - could not start or remove key from ignition, had to have vehicle towed from parking lot to dealership, had cylinder lock and key replaced. 12/10/13 - key is stuck in on position, drove straight to dealership (since we could not turn the car off), had to replace cyclinder lock and key again.

One night my family and I were driving my 1998 Cadillac Deville, and all of a sudden the heater coil burst without warning, the heater was not on and the car was not running hot. The car filled with steam making it impossible to see anything, and hot scalding water and anti-freeze poured out from under the dash board right over the gas peddle and scalded my right foot causing serious burns and leaving horrible scars. Luckily we were traveling on a country road with little to no traffic. I am relieved that me nor my family was seriously injured other than my foot being burned. Car dealer was notified, and nothing was done. I feel like this is a very dangerous matter that should be looked into and have something done about it.

I bought a used 1997 Cadillac from a Cadillac dealership, before I bought the car I took it for a test drive, it drove like a dream, then on the way back to the dealership the oil light came on. I told the salesman about it, and he said he would have it checked out, he asked what I thought about the car other than the oil light coming on , I told him other than that I couldn,t find nothing else wrong with it. A couple of days latter I drove by the dealership and noticed the car was gone, I pulled in and preceded to look at other cars, when the same salesman came out to wait on me and I asked about the 97 Cadillac and he told me that they had found the problem and it was a blown head gasket, and if they were to fix it, would I still be interested in the car if the price was right, I said yes,. . . . ( I thought to myself a Cadillac being repaired at a Cadillac dealership by a Cadillac mechanic, why not, how could I go wrong). . . So after talking a while I left and came back about a week later and according to the salesman it had been fixed, so I preceded to test drive it again didn,t find any thing wrong and bought the car, drove great, could,nt ask for a nicer car, until 5 months. And just under 4000 mi. Latter same problem blown head gasket, well I bought the car as is, and I know what as is means' I live on a disability check, and you can imagine the repair cost, so it sits in the driveway, and I,m out a car. . . . My problem is with general motors I have checked under complaints at NHTSA and other sites and this has been happening ever since they came out with the northstar engine but until their is a recall they don't have to do anything about the problem, my question is why has their not been a recall. . . But yet they get bailout money while people like me are forced to walk. Look forward to hearing from you on this matter before I have to send my car to the junkyard because I sure can,t afford to fix it living on $849. 00 amonth. . . .

Front wheels passed through a puddle and water splashed into engine compartment while I attempted to make a turn. There was a complete loss of power steering and the turn could not be completed. The effect was momentary but scared me quite a bit. This has happened three times on different rainy days with the car.

Car loses power completely and cuts off. There is no electric or engine available and the car must be restarted in order to proceed in traffic. This failure usually occurs at low rates (20-35mph) of speed but especially when turning corners. Power steering is diminished due to power failure.
