Engine Burning Oil Problems of Cadillac Deville

Tl- the contact owns a 2000 Cadillac seville. The contact stated that while driving at 35 mph, an abnormal odor of burning oil was noticed within the vehicle. The failure occurred constantly. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that oil was leaking onto the manufold. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. 1. No warning. 2. Excessive oil consumption. Cadillac is aware of this issue and needs to issue a recall before one of their engines uses all the oil, over heats, causing a fire that kills someone. This issue is all over TSB forums 3. Beyond adding 5qts of oil between scheduled oil changes nothing. I cannot afford the $5000 engine rebuild for their mistake.

Oil leak from oil pan. This car had not leaked oil previous to this incident. While driving I noticed an oil burning smell and smoke coming from the engine compartment. After investigation I learned that 3 quarts of oil had leaked during my drive. I did get this fixed a auto repair facility. I then learned that the fix that gm had come up with was some sort of plate. The repair shop installed same.

Started burning oil at 58,000. Dealer replaced pistons and charged me $6376. Called mfg. To complain about cost. They immediately refunded 50% of bill. Was there a recall? am I still paying more than I should? the 50% refund came too easy. I talked to a stranger at a car wash, with an identical car, who had the exact same problem! his was still under warranty.

The contact stated the vehicle burned oil excessively. He had to add a quart of oil every 750 miles. Took the vehicle to the dealership multiple times. The dealership replaced the piston rings on April 4, 2005. After the piston ring replacement there was a reduction in oil consumption. T two service bulletins 1358091 and 1396266. The bulletins stated oil should only have to be added after every 2,000 miles. The vehicle is still under warranty. The contact specifically found many complaints on the same type of vehicle.

Vehicle burns oil excessively. The vehicle may stop working at anytime. It seemed as though the engine didn't have an oil pan. The oil was changed regularly as scheduled and would burn 2 to 4 quarts between changes and began to use more between 39k to 42k miles. The manufacturer was made aware of the problem but would not help remedy the problem.

Excessive oil consumption, 1 quart of oil every 800 miles. Cadillac appears to be well aware that this problem exists with some north star engines, (based on specific oil consumption procedures dictated to their dealerships, I. E. Ring flushing, ring replacement with special rings, etc), but fails to inform the consumer of this potential problem when purchasing a new vehicle.

My 2001 Cadillac Deville uses 2 quarts of oil ever 1300 miles. This is excessive oil consumption for a vehicle under 50,000. I have reported this to gm and my local dealer. They say that this is normal. I reported this over a year ago! I was having a oil consumption test, but now they can not find the records.

Consumer noticed, excessive oil consumpsion every 3000 miles one quart of oil, causing engine stall very often. Dealer has been notified. Please provide further information. Ts.

Vehicle burns oil every 1,000 to 1,500 miles. Vehicle had taken a quart of oil every 500 miles on a road trip. Independent mechanic is conducting an oil consumption test to locate problem. Dealer was notified. Consumer also states that the vehicle had burned 1qt of oil on a recent 500 mile trip.

Consumers vehicle is experiencing excessive oil consumption.

Vehicle has had continued problems with engine oil consumption, several repairs and final replacement of the engine did not rectify oil consumption, the replacement engine was not the proper engine for the vehicle.

Excessive oil consumption. Starting from 26 Jun. 1999 ,the day after purchase, till 20 Mar. 2000 the dealer worked on finding and correcting engine oil leaks. With the next oil change, after correction of the oil leaks , on 12 Jul. 2000 the oil level was down one quart. At this time I requested an oil consumption test which was completed(3k miles later) on 5 Sep. 2000 and again was one quart low. At this time I was informed that they would now have to do a formal consumption test(3k miles more) to submit to g. M. Should the oil level again be a quart low the dealer advised me that it would be with-in acceptable limits in accordance with the latest g. M. Bulletin,which was not available for me to see. I subsequently called g. M. At 1 800 458 8006 and they informed me that they could not make any commet on this "technical" problem and that I would have to work it out with the dealer. . Would I be way off base thinking that the dealer more or less already stated he is not going to do anything about this????? thanks for your ear.

High oil consumption. Refer;odi # 730667,secound 3k mile oil consumption test compeleted and again over a qt. Used. Dealer would/could not take any action because manufactures bulletin (id># 502869 guide#76-60-04a )states 1 qt. Consumption in 2k is normal,also; in a e-mail response to this cosumption question mr. Jack anderson (g. M. Spokesmen) stated "oil consumption of two quuarts per 3000 miles is not adnormal". I am not questioning g. M. Is why was this information on the window sticker right next to the fuel economy and annual fuel cost. Also,if it can burn two qts. Of oil when new how many qts. Will it be burning at 50k miles. Is this in keeping with the high standards of air quality the epa is trying to maintain? thanks for your time. Ra.
