Engine Problems of Cadillac Deville

The engine just stops, no warning no lights has you slow down the engine will just come to a stop. This has happened in both cold and hot weather about a 1/2 dozen times. Dealer has not been able to locate a problem.

The contact owns a 1999 Cadillac Deville. While driving between 60-70 mph, the vehicle would shimmy drastically. The independent mechanic advised the contact not to drive the vehicle over 50 mph. The front tie rod was replaced and a semi-alignment was performed. The axle hub carrier rear suspension was faulty and the coil spring was also damaged. Later, the windshield wipers would not operate and, upon further investigation, it was discovered that the wipers were wired incorrectly. While driving less than 50 mph, the check oil warning light illuminated because there was no oil in the vehicle. The failure mileage was 130,000 and current mileage was 132,000. 2002 Deville bought is used with 46,000 miles after driving it 1,500 miles I noticed it used 3 quarts of oil. Everyone I ask says it is excessive and I agree I can not get this taken care of on my own and I owe too much money on the car to get rid of it. Cadillac should fix this problem I have talked to other individuals and they had the same problem with one car having blown the engine. He now drives a Toyota avalon.

2001 Cadillac Deville. Intermittently won't start. All lights in car come on, so there is electrical power. I have been having this problem for 2 years. . . I am now on my 3rd dealer/service. Problem never shows up on diagnostics. . . They have been able to duplicate a few times. . . . Still unable to fix. Pcm has been replaced 2 times. I am very frustrated. . . . Please help. . . . The vehicle will shut down after the oil light comes on. The consumer was driving around 55 mph. This happened twice while he was slowing down. The consumer was able to get the vehicle to start back. This occurred three times today 8-4-05. The oil was not low at the five times this has occurred. The first two times it occurred consumer did not take it to the dealership. The consumer has currently made an appointment to take it to the dealership. The consumer was concerned because he had a Cadillac before that had this same problem. There are no other known problems with the vehicle at this time.

Leased vehicle has stopped for no reason 3 times in traffic. No indication of problems, no dashboard lights lit before vehicle stopped. The vehicle just stopped dead cold with no warning. Consumer has been in contact with dealer 3 times and taken the car in for service, the dealer could not fix the vehicle, and the vehicle has a vehicle data recorder on board. That still has not helped and problem still has not been fixed. Made a complaint to the bbb. Gm customer service and they denied the consumer's complaint. The consumer has every printout from the dealer that states the problems. The car has a pattern of problems.

Loss of engine coolant on my 1996 Cadillac Deville. Took car into dealer and they diagnosed blown head gaskets. Repair called for engine removal and cost approx. $3400. I have heard of a number of other gm northstar engines having this same type of failure. My car has been dealer maintained since new and with only 85,000 miles on this car and the number of other similar failures reported, I consider this a manufacturers design fault.

Consumer states felt that vehicle was bottoming out when hitting bumps in the road. Consumer took the vehicle to dealer to be serviced, the vehicle was under warranty. They claimed test dro ve the vehicle and couldn't find anything wrong with the vehicle. Consumer stated the odometer reading was the same when he dropped the vehicle off and when he picked it up. Consumer recently took the vehicle to another repair center, and they told him that engine mount had to be replaced.

2000 Cadillac Deville north star with 50 thousand miles. . . . Uses oil and has since 30 thousand miles. . . Whiled riving vehicle shut off due to engine crank shaft sensor faiure. . . .

2001 Cadillac Deville. The consumer states the vehicle will die suddenly. The vehicle will start up after this happens without having to wait. This happened three times, and it started right after purchase of vehicle on may 30, 2002. The vehicle was towed to the dealership three times. The consumer did not feel safe driving the vehicle. They kept changing the crank shaft position sensor. The vehicle was towed the second time may 28, 2004, and the third time, March 28, 2005. The speed does not matter when this occurs.

The crank sensor failed while the vehicle was in motion. The power steering and the brakes would fail when the engine had gone out. The failures almost resulted in collisions.

While driving on the highway vehicle stopped without prior notice. Consumer took vehicle to dealership, and mechanic told him that crankshaft sensor needs t be replaced.

The crankshaft sensors failed. Nlm.

Shocks, struts and motor mounts replaced due to noise in suspension, however noise in front end is still present. (qcaw).

Motor defective.

The vehicle consumed 3/4 quart of oil a week. The dealer was unable to locate the cause of the problem.
