After years of risking my life driving with headlights(low beams) dimmer than my turn signals, I gave up and bought some aftermarket housings. I read a little online, and some people said the the projector bowls burn up. After replacing these, I decided to open up the factory ones. When I got them opened, I found the projector bowl to be burnt up. It is ridiculous that gm/Cadillac won't recall them, even with so many reports of the dim low beams reported all over the internet(even on this NHTSA government website. ) this needs to be investigated and action needs to be taken. It's not acceptable for people to just have to deal with either risk getting in a wreck, running their high beams 24/7 which is a safety concern for other drivers, or to shell out the money for aftermarket housings.

The contact owns a 2014 Cadillac Srx. The contact stated that the driver's side turn signal failed. The vehicle was taken to sunset Cadillac of sarasota (2200 bee ridge rd, sarasota, FL 34239, (941) 328-8686). The dealer stated that they would have to remove the entire front bumper to replace the signal light. The repair would cost $334. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was 65,000.

Design and repair of daytime running lights (drl) is so poor that one is tempted to disconnect them. The drl bulb is the same as the turn signal bulb. Evidently, the housing for this bulb was designed in plastic, as is common with many light housings. However, the design failed to consider that the drl is on whenever the car is on. Over time, and frequently, there is a problem with either the bulb or the housing or the associated wiring, due to heat. Then, one or several of the components must be replaced. Not so bad, except that the overall lamp housing can only be accessed by removing multiple elements of bodywork. This can be difficult and time-consuming, then one gets to remove the actual housing, which is awkwardly placed for removing the retaining bolts. I have owned my 2004 Srx for three years and have encountered multiple failures of the drl and turn signals. Sometimes they start working again without repair, and sometimes repair is required. The safety issue is that we have drls for a reason, and we have turn signals for a reason. There are multiple blogs containing sad stories of how hard it is to make a bulb change, and I personally often see this model being driven (as I am now) with only one light working. In general, this seems a very safe and reliable car; seems that gm could have designed the bulb housing of a sturdier material.

The headlights fill with water and this causes the lights to work strangely. Currently, my left headlight works but not the turn signal or day beams. The right headlight is out but the turn signal and day beam work. I took it to a Cadillac dealer and they told me they've seen this issue frequently. Gm does not seem interested in fixing the issue. This is a safety concern that needs to be addressed. I should not have to pay $3,000 for a manufacturing defect.

The front turn signals are constantly burning out, and are not easy and very costly to get to for replacement. Four bulbs in six months is unacceptable.

Beginning in may of 2013, the right turn signal bulb has continually blown. . . . . . . 5 instances including the time right now that we are having repaired tomorrow. Just the right front light!! the local Cadillac dealer does not seem to consider this a problem because there's been no recall assigned, nor has gm mentioned it anywhere as an issue. First instance 5-27-2013, then 8-23-2013, then 2-22-2014, the 4th time we had them replace the pigtail in addition to the bulb, and as I mentioned we take the car in tomorrow again for the same issue. This should be addressed, not only as a potential fire hazard or safety concern, but as an economic burden on the consumer. . . . . . . . . To replace a $6. 00 turn signal bulb, the front bumper must be removed which comes at a cost ranging from $200 to $400 each time there's an issue. . Read more...
Turn signal/day time running lights burn out every other month. I have had the vehicle for 3 years and have had to replace the bulb and socket on both sides 6 separate times.
Right front parking light and turn signal light repeatedly burns out, about every two to three months.

Front turn signals do not work. Vehicle has been to the dealer no less than 6 times throughout it's life. I have personally changed 2 turn signal bulbs. I am an engineer. . . And the bulbs are fully functional after replacement. The bulbs "socket" is plastic with a wire. It appears the wire melts the plastic and the turn signal stops working prematurely. This might be fixed with bulb that is of all glass construction (which gm does not use and not available at the local parts store). Or possibly the turn signal circuit is using too much current for this application. Either way this is a certain design defect. . . Noted on Cadillac forums. I just replaced another bulb and the next day it is not working again. The problem I find, is there is no way to fix this problem. There are no "faulty" parts to replace. It must be a design defect. And owners of these vehicles are a liability on the road.
Turn signals failed to work. This is an intermittent problem which the dealer has failed to correct. The selected signal does not flash when the turn signal is activated. The operator will then cancel the signal and activate the other side and the signal still does not flash. Then, several minutes later, both signals work properly.
