Problems with low beam headlights, which often resulted in dimness, fogging, or premature burnout due to faulty weather seals that allowed moisture into the headlight housings I’ve owned more than 5 Cadillac Srx different models from 2010-2016 and they all have this problem. I can’t see anything after changing the headlights low beam bulbs and the dealer told me to change the headlights assembly and it’s pretty pricey it’s an safety issue because I can’t see the roadway and I can’t turn my high beams on all the time due to will affect other drivers on the opposite side of road.

Safety defect remedies on 2014 Cadillac Srx (VIN: 3gyfnee36es532374) dear sir/madam, I am writing as the owner of a 2014 Cadillac Srx, VIN 3gyfnee36es532374, to address two critical safety defects that I believe are the manufacturer's responsibility to remedy. Water intrusion and electrical failure: my vehicle has a known defect where water from the sunroof consistently leaks into the trunk. This water repeatedly causes electrical damage to the component located under the spare tire. I have personally replaced this component on three separate occasions, only to have it fail again after rain. This recurring failure disables my rear windshield wiper, a crucial safety feature. Driving with my child in the car while unable to clear the rear window is the most unsafe I have ever felt. Dangerously dim headlights: the front headlights are dangerously dim and do not provide adequate illumination for safe night driving. This is a well-documented issue with this model and poses a clear and present danger to my family and others. I have already spent my own money attempting to fix a problem that is a design flaw. I have no desire to pay for any further remedies for these issues. As the manufacturer, general motors is responsible for the safety of its vehicles. I have also filed a formal complaint with the national highway traffic safety administration (NHTSA) regarding these matters. Subject: complaint regarding unsafe headlight design – 2016 Cadillac Srx to whom it may concern, we own a 2016 Cadillac Srx and are extremely concerned about the safety of the vehicle’s headlights. The low beams are so dim that we are unable to drive safely at night. When we resort to using the high beams, oncoming drivers frequently flash their lights at us, indicating that we are blinding them. Bottom line, car is unusable at night !!! a few years ago, I brought this issue to the attention of our local Cadillac service department. Unfortunately, I was told there was nothing they could do, despite acknowledging that the headlight design is a known problem. They quoted us over $1,600 for a repair, without offering any goodwill assistance or cost reduction — even though this is clearly a design flaw, not a wear-and-tear issue. This does not seem fair, especially considering our vehicle has only 71,749 miles on it — in todays standards, essentially like new for a luxury vehicle. We are disappointed that Cadillac has not taken responsibility for a safety issue that affects many drivers. We ask that Cadillac stand behind its product and work with us to resolve this issue in a reasonable and customer-friendly way. I own a 2011 Cadillac Srx and have experienced a serious issue with the headlights. Over time, the headlights became extremely dim, making it difficult and dangerous to drive at night. This was not due to the bulbs themselves, but rather an issue with the headlight housing or design, which many other Cadillac Srx owners have also reported. The visibility is so poor that it creates a major safety concern for myself, my passengers, and others on the road. Despite the widespread nature of this issue and media coverage (including wsoc-tv channel 9’s investigation), there has been no recall or extended warranty to cover the cost of repairs, which can be significant. I am submitting this complaint in hopes that the NHTSA will investigate and consider opening a recall to address this recurring and dangerous issue with the 2011 Srx headlight system.

Head lights are very dim at night and can only see about 5 feet in front of me when driving at night.

The headlights on my 2016 Srx Cadillac have extremely dim headlights. I can barely see in front of me at night. The drivers side light is especially dim. The only way I can see is if I drive with my highbeams on. When I’m driving with my regular lights on and a car is coming at me I feel blinded. I’m scared to drive at night. I fear that I’m going to hit something or someone. This has been going on for a while now and at first I thought I was imagining things, and perhaps it was my eyesight, but it’s absolutely not. I’ve read online countless accounts of other people with 2010-2016 Cadillac Srx that have the exact same problem as me. I just took it into the mechanic to have him look at the headlights.

Braking after hitting a pothole was a nightmare! no warning lights came on to prepare me for anything. Brake pedal went to the floor and would not work properly. Finally after getting my vehicle to stop I pulled over pumped my brakes and seemed to work after 5 tries. Toe link recall was “fixed” well not the case. After 2 recalls on the toe link I had a nice bill the cost me $1. 450. 00 after having to pay for this part. Still haven’t been reimbursed. Also headlights are very dim and can’t see at night!! I’ve asked multiple mechanic shops and no one has an answer for me. So have to use my high beams or else I can’t see anything at night . Very unsafe and no one can help me resolve this issue.

The car is extremely unsafe. The headlights are dim no matter how many times they are replaced. I have to drive with high beams on.

I purchased this vehicle on January 1, 2025. I drove it last night for the first time after dark. The headlights were so dim I could hardly see to drive. I had to use my brights except when a car was coming towards me, then I put them on dim and slowed way down. Leaving them on bright would have endangered other drivers and myself. I purchased the car with no warranty so now I either drive only during daylight hours or I pay out of pocket to have them fixed which I'm sure isn't cheap. I am going to go to the dealership that I purchased it from to see if they will help me at all, but since there was no warranty, I'm not expecting them to give me any assistance with this. When you look at the headlights during the daytime, which is when I bought the car there is no visible sign of an issue with them. No warning lamp has come on to let me know there is an issue and since I just purchased the car I don't know when they first appeared so dim. I noticed there are numerous complaints about this issue. Why isn't gm doing something about it.

The contact owns a 2015 Cadillac Srx. The contact stated that while operating the vehicle at night, the front headlights was extremely dim, causing a visibility hazard for the driver. The cause of the failure was not yet determined. The contact stated that the front headlamp assemblies were previously replaced due the same failure; however, the failure reoccurred. The local dealer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was offered. The manufacturer was not yet contacted. The failure mileage was 99,700.

2015 Cadillac Srx is unsafe to drive while using its low beams after dark, and after having its high and low beam bulbs replaced. I purchased this car used in March 2024 for my wife. She only occasionally drives but never at night. In April I drove it when nearly dark and thought the low beams were very dim. I called the dealer and asked about getting warranty coverage and was told it had too many miles. I drove it again late September. It was dark and the low beams barely lit the road in front of me. I could hardly see going around curves, and it would have been too late to avoid a deer stepping in front of me. That night I realized it was absolutely too unsafe to drive my wife’s Cadillac after dark. I researched changing the bulbs and decided suing a body shop would be the best call. I also decided to use sylvania silverstar ultra - high performance halogen headlight high beam, and low beam replacement bulbs. The body shop replaced all my bulbs in December. Feeling all was well, we drove my wife’s car out for an early new year’s dinner. On the drive back the lighting was slightly improved, but still unsafe to drive after dark. Is correcting this issue something Cadillac should l pay for under the 2019 law suit settlement?.

After braking hard, skidding or going over a hard bump, brakes go to the floor and do not recover. This has ongoing since I purchased the car in 2012.

Head light assembly - the dim lights are life threating. This is a know defect, and should have been part of a recall. A class action lawsuit was filed. Gm loss, and replaced the head light assembly for the minimum amount of time ending in 2019. My car has 89,000 the dim lights have probably never been good. This should have been a total recall, instead, gm quit paying for headlight replacement in 2019. If you call gm/Cadillac 800-333-4223 they will tell you they quit because that was part of the settlement. Every head light assembly should have been replace, a total recall.

2013 Cadillac Srx has ridiculous (pointing down) low beam headlight issues. Adaptive forward lighting makes this impossible to be driven at night on low beams, because visibility is so poor! you have to drive with high beams on. These are barely decent and are like having weak low beams. No one flashes to have me turn them off, which is telling of how lame the high beams point. Visibility at night is paramount and this issue is quite dangerous. They (gm) know that this is a problem and have been sued. It is time for you to do your job and make them do theirs for safety sake.

Low beam headlights are very dim, failing to illuminate the roadway, even with the brightest halogen bulbs available. Creates a safety hazard as driver cannot sufficiently see the road ahead, especially when meeting an oncoming vehicle. In my vehicle it is worse on the driver's side, but both are extremely dim. Vehicle is unsafe to drive at night, creating hazardous situation for this vehicle as well as oncoming traffic. I purchased this vehicle used, as is, with no knowledge of headlight issues on this make/model vehicle.

Gm class action says Cadillac Srx headlight failure merits recall. No recall ever received. A lack of adequate illumination. Gm, mastria GMC Cadillac inc. And 3rd party failed to disclose the defect. Leaving me the owner to pay for the entire cost for replacement headlights.

I noticed that changing out my headlight bulbs on my vehicle that I still could not see at night. I also bought a very good brand / new led lights for my 2014 Srx. I have done research and noticed the headlights itself seems to be an issue on a lot of these specific vehicles . It makes it very hard at night to see and honestly makes it very dangerous to drive it darker areas without keeping my brights on .

I am writing to express my serious concerns regarding a critical safety defect in my 2015 Cadillac Srx. The low beam headlights are dangerously dim, rendering night driving extremely hazardous. Despite gm's awareness of this defect, as evidenced by technical service bulletins and customer satisfaction campaigns, no adequate solution has been provided. My warranty has expired, but this defect is not due to any action on my part; it is a clear manufacturing flaw. The moisture accumulation within the headlight assemblies leads to electrical failures and corrosion, significantly impairing visibility. I had the same headlight issue with my 2011 malibu and the pains it took to replace the headlights and wiring has been an unnecessary hassle. Do you know that they charge $200 to replace malibu headlights? is that reasonable? speaking of the financial burden of repairing defective headlights, for the Cadillac Srx, the estimated repair cost is between $1,500 and $5,000, is unreasonable and unacceptable, especially considering the systemic nature of this problem. Gm’s proposed reimbursements have been insufficient and do not address the root cause, as replacements continue to use the same flawed components. Several lawsuits have been filed against gm due to these defective headlights. The plaintiffs in these cases have reported severe safety hazards, including accidents caused by the dim headlights. One plaintiff stated, "I had an accident due to the low beam lights on my 2012 Cadillac Srx. It was still dark at 5:30 am when I failed to see the outer road turned which caused me to collide with a curb and become airborne. This accident caused 3 blown-out tires and 2 ruined rims. This cost me $1700 and it was all caused by the extremely dim low beam headlights". Another plaintiff mentioned, "we are afraid of driving our car, a 2015 Cadillac Srx, at night because you can not see. Later we learned that there is an inherent problem with the design of the headlight assembly seal.

I recently had to drive at night. The low beams are so dim you cannot drive. I have to drive with the high beams. The low beams are on, but not bright enough to drive. What is the fix for this. Thanks.

2016 cadilliac Srx low beam headlights the low beam headlights on the vehicle are extremely dim. It makes it challenging turning onto a street or intersection which does not have its own lighting or another car in the opposite lane. Due to the low visibility, I am forced to excursive judgement to ensure you are in the correct lane. My passengers have even noticed it and had other people drive the car at night with me and they said the same. I purchased the with 36,497 miles. I did speak to Cadillac prior, they knew about the issue, told me I to take it to one of the auto parties, I would have to pay for the new assembly and then send it to them to be reimbursed. At the time the estimate was around 2,200. Due to this issue try not to drive at night, especially on streets with no lights. Have you all received a lot of complaints about this head light issue? has a recall been issued?.

My headlights are so dim, I have to drive with high beams. It is raining in my, short circuited the trunk, will not open and my bearings have to be replaced. Sounds like a truck. Ughhhh, imy first and last american made car.

My 2011 Srx has lost brake power 4 times in the past 2 years. I reported to gm as other owners had this complaint. I hit the brakes at low speed when going into a parking lot incline and lose my brake power. The brakes go to the floor and eventually the car stops. Thankfully no other car was near me as the car is hard to stop. I also slammed on my brakes around 25-30 mph as another car was coming head on in my lane. Once the collision was avoided I tried to stop at a red light. Again the brakes went to the floor without stopping the vehicle immediately. My auto mechanic test drove it everywhere to see if he could reproduce the issue, but could not . I contacted gm and they told me to take it to a dealership which I did. They could not find anything but bled the brake lines hoping this was the issue. It was not. I went over an inclined manhole on a side street going about 5-10 miles and afterwards the brakes were very soft. I read in the Srx Cadillac forum that others that had the same issue said to try and pump the brakes. I did this and the brake power re- engaged. This is a scary safety issue as I am always wondering if my brakes will stop the car. I only have 80000 miles on this car and keep routine maintenance. I also have an issue with the condensation of the headlights that dims the lighting on the headlights. I had received a letter ( court settlement claim) stating if I had an issue to bring it to a dealership and they would look at it. If it did have this issue the headlight company would pay for some repair. I didn’t go since my headlight issue didn’t start until later . When I contacted the dealership I was told that offer expired along with gm confirming this. It is extremely frustrating and scary to know other owners have the same complaints and gm doesn’t do any safety recalls. These 2 issues are a big safety issue and I pray it never causes an accident.

The seals on the factory headlight housings are faulty. They allow moisture into the low beam unit which blocks the light from projecting properly. The car is also safe to drive at night time.

The headlights are ineffective. It is like driving without headlights at night. Had bulbs replaced but did not improve lighting. Moisture on inside of windshield. On cold evenings the inside of the windshield is frozen. March 21, 2024 the tailgate will not open. It appears this is a common complaint with this vehicle caused by drainage from the sunroof leaking onto the module that powers the tailgate.

The headlights are failing at night creating a safety concern. The first time I drove at night the headlights were like not even on. I about hit someone when they approached me and I dimmed my lights. You can see only on brights. Performed google search to learn many of these, if not all, have faulty headlights. Purchased this vehicle in March 2024, contacted dealer was advised it’s not covered under warranty. Was advised to take it to the gm dealer, they want $1200 each side to fix and what I’ve read this doesn’t fix the faulty headlights either. Help, can’t drive at night at all and I’m disabled and unable to repair.

The headlights on my 2016 Cadillac Srx are no-longer lighting up the road. It is not the bulb, they still work but they only light up a fraction of what they did in the past. The bights light up the road great but I can't drive with them on all the time. As I searched on the internet I see this is a common issue with the reflection material failing. It has been a know issue and a recall was never issued. I can not understand why a recall isn't issued due to the safety issues related to driving at night. Is this being considered for recall - if seems unfair to force me to pay to repair something that is know to be an issue and related to safety.

I cannot see when driving at night. I'm getting cars flashing me to turn my lights on but they are already on. If I drive with my high beams on I'm going to blind other drivers. I just bought the car 2 days ago and called the dealership to take it in. They said there is nothing they can do that it's a common problem. I'm not understanding why I these cars are on the road if there is nothing that can be done. It's an accident waiting to happen.

Headlights not bright enough too dark to drive at night.

The headlights on my 2011 Cadillac Srx4 (62,000 miles and garage kept from new until 2 years ago) started to fail in 2022. The passenger side failed in 2022 and had to be replaced at an out of pocket cost of $1,536. 98. The driver's side failed on 1/15/2024 and it had to be replaced at an out of pocket cost of $2,046. 70. I understand that there was not a recall on this problem but rather a reimbursement program. I was told by the dealer that that program ended in 2020. I don't understand how a vehicle manufacturer, who has admitted that there was a problem with the sealant on their headlight, can just stop reimbursing owners. The best part is the replacements that I paid $3,583. 68 for, still have bad sealant, and will go again eventually. My safety and the safety of other is put at risk because there is no warning light or anything indicate to the driver that your headlight has failed. The problem has been reproduced over and over and the dealer/gm/Cadillac all have acknowledged the problem exists. My vehicle was inspected by the Cadillac dealer (smail Buick, GMC, Cadillac) and that's when I was informed that the reimbursement from Cadillac has ended. Please advise if there is any way to force Cadillac to reimburse these costs.

2014 Cadillac Srx - driver's side headlight does not work properly on low beam. While the light burns, it does not shine forward on the road. It is absolutely as if there was no light at all, when driving at night. Took it to 2 different Cadillac dealers who tried to fix but was told it was impossible to fix without replacing the entire headlight unit at a cost of more than $2,000. I had this same problem with my 2011 Cadillac Srx, and it was recalled & replaced for free, but there is no recall on the 2014 model - except (I was told) in California. Can't drive at night as a result without driving with high beam. This is a very dangerous situation.

The headlights, when put in "dim/low beam" are almost non working. One can see the lights are working, but it is almost like driving blind. The dealership people know about the problem and stated that the heat on the lens cover, inside the headlight assembly causes that cover to warp, deform and will not permit adequate light to shine out. They then told me the assembly parts and labor would be over $3000. This issue is dangerous because on an unlighted street with no accompanying traffic to provide lighting, it is almost like having no headlights at all. The dealership and Cadillac know about the issue but refuse to do anything about the problem that is due to their own faulty manufacturing.
