Air Bag Problems of Cadillac STS

Airbag light came on last week, and continues to stay on. Have not taken in, as I was just checking for any recalls.

Air bag on the steering wheel has oozing glue that oozed/leaked out of the airbag and has hardened on outer cover! lights and radio don’t disconnect or turn off when car is turned off and drain battery.

The service airbags warning appeared on my car. It was just parked for 2 days and when I got in it turned on. This is a common issue that has occurred with multiple people.

I understand that 2006 Cadillac cts has a recall for airbag problems. Cadillac doesn't deny that the same system was used in the Sts. I've seen several complaints about the same problem. I just wonder why the Sts was not recalled. I knew there was no warranty, and that's why I contacted Cadillac. Knowing this they sent me for a diagnostic, which was a waste of time and money. The end result was that they said it's not under warranty. I would just like you to investigate to see if there should be a recall. This is a safety issue that Cadillac should address.

On my way home today the service light airbag come on stating that the airbag needs to be serviced.

Pump is going out.

Air bag alert says service air bags this should be covered as many of these bags have been recalled. Second problem: when turning off the ignition, it keeps dinging and says put car in park even though it is in park. This dinging noise lasts maybe 10 seconds to a minute. Sometimes shifting or putting foot on brake again stops the dinging.

When I move the driver's seat the "airbag" symbol appears on the dashboard. If I move the seat back and forth , after a few tries, the "airbag" symbol disappears. I was not able to look under the seat, but I have seen a video where somebody had the exact same problem but found burnt wires under the seat. I am wondering if there is a fire hazard. This happened when the car is stationary.

B0022 issue has been detected in the air bag deployment system. Passenger seat belt retractor is inoperable and will not retract seat belt when needed. The air bag warning lite shows on dash when start of engine and continuous on .

Started receiving a constant, "service air bag" warning message after 125,000 miles. The dealer told me the passenger presence module needed replaced. It will cost $1,000 for the part, labor, and programming. Now I read on this forum that the same issue was found on the cts model and it was recalled by the manufacturer, but not the Sts. It's difficult to justify putting that much money in an older vehicle.

Takata recall: service airbag warning appeared on the instrument panel. Auto is currently in the shop for analysis. The 2006 cts has the same airbag system. And it has been recalled. The Sts has not. Why?.

Involved in head-on collision on July 31, 2016 when a vehicle pulled out in front of me on a clear, dry, day on pavement I was traveling about 30 mph and tried to swerve to miss the other vehicle, but my vehicle made contact on the left front quarter panel of my car hitting the other vehicle at the drivers side door. My air bag did not go off nor did the seat belt stop me from hitting the steering wheel. After the accident, the warning panel read "service air bag". The other driver was ticketed for failure to yield.

While starting my car, a light came on my car indicating "service air bag". I took my car to the dealership and they indicated that the passenger seat module for the air bag needed replacement in order to correct the service air bag issue. The total cost of repair including parts, labor and reprogramming was $1,000 to $1,200. I do not have $1,000 to fix this problem, so I am forced to drive a car without airbags. The 2005 - 2007 cts has the same issue and gm issued a recall. Why not the Sts???.

Service airbag system light remains on at startup. Periodically the light will not remain on but more often than not it remains on. When light remains on the vehicle may be stationary or in motion.

The contact owns a 2006 Cadillac Sts. While driving various speeds, the service air bag warning message displayed. The failure recurred on numerous occasions. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the front passenger side presence module needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 89,000.

The "service air bag" display appeared on control panel during a return trip from florida to massachusetts. I searched on-line and discovered that Cadillac had a recurring problem with this issue, and had recalled some cts models for same. However, the Sts model has not been recalled. I brought the car in for service this week. The passenger seat module for the air bag needed replacement in order to correct the service air bag issue. The total cost of repair including parts, labor and reprogramming was $844. 95.

Passenger air bag warning is on. It was repaired once under warranty. I am now driving with no air bags because the defective module was replaced with a module from the same manufacturer that made the first defective one. If my car was a cts it would be repaired by Cadillac as hundreds of cts cars have been recalled for this reason. I have owned Cadillacs most of my life. This may be the last one.

I started up the car last night, and "service airbag" came up on my driver information center. It has not gone away sense. With all these air bag recalls, is that one that would be included?.

Was involved in and accident with the front grill, radiator, hood, and driver door had been severely damaged. Airbags never ejected.

Tl-the contact owns 2006 Cadillac Sts. The contact stated that while driving 60 mph, the vehicle stalled without warning causing another vehicle to crash into the contact's vehicle. The vehicle rolled over several times ejecting both the contact and front passenger from the vehicle. The driver and front passenger sustained neck, back and brain injuries that required medical attention. A police report was filed. The vehicle was destroyed. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 70,000. Pam.

Service passenger air bag system.

Was involved in a side impact car crash where none of the airbags deployed. Car that hit mine was traveling at least 40 mph and I was traveling at least 30 mph at impact.

The contact owns a 2006 Cadillac Sts. While driving 55 mph, the vehicle slid on black ice on the road and crashed into the shoulder lane, striking the rear wheel assembly of a semi tractor cab. The vehicle was destroyed and the driver sustained head trauma, a skull fracture, a broken left shoulder, multiple broken ribs on both sides of his body, dislocation of the right shoulder, and cuts and bruises throughout his legs and arms. None of the air bags deployed. The contact believes that had the air bags deployed, the injuries would not have been so severe. A police report was filed. 2006 Cadillac Sts does not set air bag to on when a person who weighs less than 103 pounds sits in the passenger seat. While the air bag is off, the seat belt indication does not work. Cadillac refuses to fix the problem, even though it has worked correctly for the past 17 months. My wife weighs about 100 pounds.

1. I started my car via remote start to warm it up. . Passenger's airbag was reported via the dash controls as non-functional at that time 2. Drove 100 yards and the rear window imploded into the vehicle sending shards of glass all over the interior. It resulted in many small bloody cuts and scratches 3. Selling dealer would not respond to the issue. Non-selling dealer towed the car for repair.
