1 Front Air Bag Sensor Control problem of the 2009 Cadillac STS

Failure Date: 07/27/2017

Takata recall. Passenger seat, passenger detect sensor (pps) stopped working. No physical damage. Passenger present light says, passenger air bag off. Air bag dash light always on. I checked wiring under the seat and can not visually see any damage to the wiring going to the seat cushion sensor or the seat buckle sensor.

3 Front Air Bag Sensor Control problem of the 2006 Cadillac STS

Failure Date: 12/15/2015

We own a 2006 Cadillac, Sts, v8. At approximately 96k miles the airbag sensor warning illuminated. At first it was intermittent. Then became constant. Dealership sais it will be $900-$1100 to repair. The warning was first noticed upon startup in the garage. Same problem existed in the cts and was recalled according to the tech at the dealership. Cadillac should fix this problem with as many other reports that have been documented. Ourselves along with many other Cadillac Sts owners are driving vehicles without airbags. Whats the point?.

4 Front Air Bag Sensor Control problem of the 2009 Cadillac STS

Failure Date: 11/15/2015

The car traction control failed and the vehicle had the service stability system come on. The abs light was lit and the vehicle would not accelerate or turn easily. The vehicle went into the ditch. This vehicle had headlights prior to the incident with bulbs popping out inside and moisture. After the repairs were done by the body shop the new headlights have had that same problem. The airbags never came out, and there is a message displayed indicating they needed service. It was never addressed by the body shop. Also prior to the incident the steering had an issue causing pain to my shoulder. The diagnosis was wrong after the steering service light remained after a gear replacement and the same issue caused pain. Time passed and the shoulder got worse. There has been 2 wheel sensors with issues. The dealer never told me that there was a special warranty for the timing belt when I bought the car. I am also now having issues with the computer screen. I cannot change the time anymore.

5 Front Air Bag Sensor Control problem of the 2006 Cadillac STS

Failure Date: 04/01/2015

I'm currently transporting elder clients without any airbags in my vehicle for the past six weeks. There was a recall on the 2006 cts, but not the Sts for the same issue. There are numerous complaints online about the same issue on the 2006 Sts. My dealer refuses to honor my request to repair the passenger seat sensor (which controls the airbags) under recall. Thank-you!.

6 Front Air Bag Sensor Control problem of the 2005 Cadillac STS

Failure Date: 02/04/2014

Airbag sensor light came on 02/04/14 and will not go off. When called the Cadillac dealer they requested I pay for a diagnostic test to see why the light is on but it will not include the cost to repair. Is this a recall item?.

7 Front Air Bag Sensor Control problem of the 1998 Cadillac STS

Failure Date: 02/08/2011

The main air bag from the steering wheel was set off with the car running and in park. The car was not moving nor was there any collision to set off the air bag. Later investigation by Cadillac/gm determined faulty sensors that caused the air bag to deploy improperly which created/creates a potentially dangerous situation.

8 Front Air Bag Sensor Control problem of the 2007 Cadillac STS

Failure Date: 04/01/2007

The contact owns a 2007 Cadillac Sts. The contact stated that the passenger side air bag works intermittently when someone of a heavier weight sits in the passenger seat. He also stated that because the air bag was not activated, the seat belt chime that indicates the seat belts were not in use, would not work either. The contact notified the dealer of the failure at least six times and took the vehicle there as well. The current mileage was 3,500 and failure mileage was 10.

9 Front Air Bag Sensor Control problem of the 2006 Cadillac STS

Failure Date: 09/24/2005

(1) our 2006 Cadillac Sts repeatedly fails to sense the occupant in the passenger side of the vehicle and fails to trigger the passenger-side air bag sensor to activate. This is a safety issue. The only way the sensor will activate is if the passenger squirms around in the seat in an awkward way to have the sensor sense the occupant. But this is not always possible and on two occasions the passenger airbag sensor actually shut off after a refueling operation and restarting the vehicle even though the passenger never left the vehicle and had not changed position. (2) failure of the passenger sensor to sense an occupant, if not noticed by the driver, or passenger and taking action to attempt to reset it would cause the air bag not to deploy in the event of a collision. (3) the dealership tried for over a week to solve the problem, but would only say that the procedure to activate the sensor requires the passenger to enter and sit in the vehicle in a certain convoluted way that is basically un-natural and impossible for certain passengers to achieve. After repeated calls to gm customer service and raising the issue with the better business bureau we were told that gm engineers are "not allowed to modify the airbag sensor system because it was specified and controlled by the federal government. " further " it is against the law for them to attempt to fix the problem even though they sympathize with my problem. " (4) from my perspective it appears that some design/engineering constraints have been forced on the manufacturer by the federal government which makes this situation untenable and creates a safety hazard for people who are not able to properly seat themselves in the passenger side of the vehicle. I think the design specs need to be challenged and recalls issued to make the passenger-side airbag sensors properly sense an occupant that any reasonable person would expect to be protected by the passenger airbag system.
