1 Side/window Air Bag problem of the 2008 Cadillac STS

Failure Date: 04/01/2015

The information window under my speedometer warned me to check the driver side air bag. It then went off about 2 days later. I warned me again in the middle of April, beginning of may and may 22nd. I did not drive my car today (5/23) so I don't know if the warning is still on. If it is I will write again.

Tl- the contact owns a 2006 Cadillac Sts. The contact stated that the front passenger side air bag sensor light had illuminated indicating that the air bag system was faulty. The vehicle was taken to an independent dealer who diagnosed that the problem was due to a faulty sensor. No additional information was available. The vehicle was not repaired and the manufacturer was not notified of the problem. The failure mileage was 146,000. Jft.

3 Side/window Air Bag problem of the 2006 Cadillac STS

Failure Date: 03/26/2012

From an internet search I have found that a common problem on these models (also 2005, 2007 & 2008) is with the passenger side airbag sensors either not detecting passengers or, as in the case of my vehicle, not functioning at all either intermittently or on a continuum. A dealer wants between $900 and $1000 to fix them and have reported to me that they "see them all the time". The 2009 cts model was recalled for the very same problems. I can't afford to get it fixed. Hopefully you guys can get some action as gm was no help at all. Thank you. John bergman 847-821-9148 pls don't hesitate to call if you have questions.

4 Side/window Air Bag problem of the 2006 Cadillac STS

Failure Date: 10/06/2010

Stopped the vehicle, placed into park position, shut off car and engaged emergency brake. Removed seat belt, driver and passenger opened doors to exit. Engine at that time went into a very high rpm making a horrible loud whining noise and auto accelerated in reverse with car in park and emergency brake on. Tried to stop the vehicle but brake pedal went to floor. No control of the vehicle and rode the vehicle as it reversed on its own, onto street, through the intersection ,colliding with a parked car and coming to rest with the rear of the car against a building. Speed unknown, no airbags deployed, small injuries.

5 Side/window Air Bag problem of the 2006 Cadillac STS

Failure Date: 10/08/2006

October 8, 2006 I was involved in an accident in my 2006 Cadillac Sts where a truck crossed the median on a four lane highway and hit my car in the side. The impact was so severe it bent the center post between the doors and needless to say I had to be cut out of the vehicle. The side air bags did not deploy. A few days earlier I had taken the car to the dealership with my mother sitting in the front seat and the sign on the mirror read "airbag off". Cadillac assigned a service request number 1-437819043 but to date refuse to discuss this issue with me. Question: has anyone else experienced a similar problem with the airbags? are we riding around with the false impression we are protected?? December 7, 2006 I did hear from a Cadillac representative today. The Cadillac representative advised me my car did not have side and curtain air bags and it was only available as an option. I asked him to give me the option number. Needless to say we got into an argument and I told him I could not believe a representative of Cadillac would tell me such erroneous information. All those air bags are standard on the Sts. Apparently this is a very incompetent group of people and I have been assigned to a rock. Anyhow they are going to retrieve the airbag monitoring box in an effort to reconstruct what happened.

6 Side/window Air Bag problem of the 2004 Cadillac STS

Failure Date: 12/09/2004

On 12/5/04 I parked our new (561 miles) 2004 Cadillac deville at the covered west palm beach airport parking lot. I left on business and returned to the car at 7:30 pm on Thursday, 12/9/04. I got into the driver's side, put the key in the ignition and started the car. The two front and passenger side airbags airbags deployed! the driver bag raked up the inside of my right forearm (which was still holding the key in the ignition) and then hit me in the left side of my face. I was suffering from a terrible cold at the time and had to sit there and inhale the dust from the bags until I could get them all deflated. I managed to drive the car home and drove it to the dealership the next afternoon, where it remains awaiting parts. Gm has called me twice, the first time was a young man who didn't know what the heck he was doing other than reading questions off his computer, and the second time the engineering department called to ask more stupid questions. . . Like, "what kind of car was parked next to you?" and "was it humid?" I explained that in florida, it's always somewhat humid. The abrasion on the inside of my arm bruised and also ended up peeling on 12/22/04. My left cheek bruised and then the spot got little tiny, unsightly pimples that went away around 12/19/04. I am still coughing. The dealership authorized us to get a rental car for the duration. (your form will not allow me to enter "deville" as the model of the Cadillac!).
