There was no warranty on the vehicle; therefore, the contact has to pay for the repair. The manufacturer was not notified. The failure mileage was 60,225. The vehicle was a 1999 Dodge 3500. The VIN of this vehicle is 1B7MF3364X_. Two primary safety related issues and many less important quality issues have plagued this vehicle. The problems began to mount immediately after the warranty lapsed. The most critical issue has been the corrosion and subsequent failure of the brake line that supplies the pressure needed for the rear brakes to operate. This issue rendered the rear brakes on the vehicle useless. Dodge corporate and two local Dodge dealerships refused to address the issue, except by offering to sell a replacement brake line. The failure of the metal after only 5 years is unacceptable. The second major safety issue is that the nipples on the original fuel sending unit were made of metal and corroded through and began to spray fuel onto the exhaust system and the entire underside of the vehicle. This results is very poor mileage and a potentially fatal fuel leak. Between these two safety issues and the blatant dismissal of any responsibility of the Dodge corporation I think something needs to be done. I have corrected the issue on my vehicle, but what if someone was towing a large trailer with a similar vehicle and the brakes failed? people could be killed. Additionally the fuel leak doesn't seem to be an issue that should ever happen. I believe that in systems as critical as fuel and brakes the material should be designed to last longer than 4 or 5 years regardless of the warranty. We have the technology to prevent this, its a simple material choice issue. The brakes and fuel lines could have easily and inexpensively been made of stainless steel or brass or any number of other non corrosive materials. This issue happened on Oct. 1, 2005.

The car was a 2003 Mazda Mazda6. After having my 2003 Mazda 6 for no more than a week, I noticed my air conditioner was not blowing out cold air. Also, the air conditioner light shut off on any setting higher than "1". I took my vehicle into my dealer for service. I was told they would have to order a new switchboard for my dash. I waited a week for the part to come in. I was told the part may or may not be in within the next week. I became frustrated and picked up my car and asked the dealer to call me when the part came in. I waited for almost 2 months then received a letter in the mail stating my part had arrived. As I am part of the working class, I did not have a chance to respond back to the letter. I received another letter stating that if I did not make an appointment to have the part installed within 10 days, the dealer was required to send the part back to the manufacturer. I made my appointment. I was given yet another rental car. After replacing the part I waited so long to come in, I was informed that part did not fix the problem. I had to wait for another part to arrive. I was also informed that there were 3 recalls that consumers had not been informed of yet that the dealer was going to make an inspection of my vehicle to ensure the recalls were fixed. Now, right before the new years holidays, I received a call from the dealer that they have to order a new gas tank for my vehicle and the part will be ordered and should arrive "within the next couple of days". I have been promised my vehicle next week. I am not holding my breathe. This diesel fuel system tank assembly issue occurred Monday, Dec. 22, 2003.

The vehicle was a 2006 Volkswagen Jetta. Filled up my 2006 Jetta tdi and diesel fuel came out all over the car and the ground. The fuel filler design will not accommodate the larger diameter truck diesel nozzle, but that's all there was available at the service station (and at most service stations along the interstate). The previous generation fuel filler did accommodate the larger diameter diesel nozzles so I don't know what vw was thinking. Vw needs to issue a recall and fix this ASAP. It is a safety issue due to spilled diesel fuel. This issue happened on 09/01/2006.
