car   Diesel Fuel System problem of Chevrolet Silverado 3500

The vehicle was a 2003 Chevrolet Silverado 3500. Driving down the road and truck just starts stalling out. Got it to the Ford dealership who says there is rust in the tank and the fuel filter is full of it. This is a safety issue as I was barely able to get off of the road. These trucks need to be recalled for the fuel tanks. I've had vehicles that have never had problems like this with the rust. They at least need to be checked out. This problem occurred on Thursday, January 24, 2013.

car   Diesel Fuel System problem of Dodge Ram 2500

The vehicle involved is a 2005 Dodge Ram 2500. VIN of the vehicle was 3D7KR28C05_. Shortly after speeding up a car in front of me hit their brakes. When I attempted to slow down it seemed that the accelerator pedal did not return to neutral and it was very hard to stop. After troubleshooting, I found out that the accelerator pedal was sticking and not returning to neutral after being depressed. Sometimes it would slowly return to neutral, other times it would stay depressed. There is no external interference with the pedal (I. E. Floor mat), and only the pedal linkage is at fault. If I pushed the pedal a large distance then it would normally spring back all the to neutral. When I checked closely, it appears that the accelerator pedal position sensor (apps) is what is causing the binding. This truck is throttle-by-wire so no mechanical cable is involved. The apps in this model truck is part of the accelerator pedal mechanism and the hinge point for the pedal is in the apps. It was Saturday, December 21, 2013 when this diesel fuel system issue happened.

car   Diesel Fuel System problem of Dodge Ram 3500

The vehicle involved was a 2004 Dodge Ram 3500. While driving on the interstate 35 I noticed smoking coming from my vehicle, as I pulled over the smoke become thick and rolled out from under the hood of my truck. I immediately open the hood to find diesel fuel covering the complete engine compartment and noticed fuel spraying from the number four fuel injection line. I am a mechanic so called Dodge dealer to get new line (part #5086874-ac) for my cummins 5. 9 engine. After talking to the parts man he said this is a common problem and they have redesigned the clamping system on the line. I feel this is a very dangerous situation, when this line leaks it is under high pressure and sprays fuel all over the engine. I feel I was very lucky that the fuel did not ignite and burn up my truck. I would highly recommend owners are notified about the new line so they can replace it before it leaks. This diesel fuel system problem happened on 10/30/2013.

car   Diesel Fuel System problem of Ford F-450

The car involved is a 2006 Ford F-450 sd. The VIN of this F-450 is 1FDXE45P86_. This 2006 Ford e450 super duty with a 6. 0l engine has been trouble right from the start. The first thing to go wrong was the turbo that went out on 09/18/2007 with only 12,000 miles. Next at 15,000 miles the vehicle had starting and running problems and the dealer replaced several parts on top of motor. From this time forward up to 29000 miles the squad was towed several times for more engine repairs and replacement parts. From 29,000 to 53,000 things got worse. The vehicle was towed in again for egr cooler problems, injector problem and radiator failed. Two of these times was when we had a patient and had to call for a back up unit to respond. From 53,000 miles to 62,000 miles we had several more times of no start and no power problem that left the squad only able to go 35 mph. We had more engine parts replaced and computers. The last event was when we had fuel getting into the coolant and found both heads cracked and egr cooler bad again. We had engine repaired with all after market parts costing over $9000. In one year squad was out of service for over 2 months with engine problems. Squad has been out of service for about 12 months since new. All problems have been engine related. This diesel fuel system problem happened on Tuesday, Sep. 18, 2007.

car   Diesel Fuel System problem of Ford F-250

The car involved was a 2011 Ford F-250 sd. The VIN of this vehicle is 1FT7W2BT9B_. I purchased the vehicle in October of 2013 with 99,000 miles on it. In January of 2014 I had a check engine light come on. I returned to the dealer to have the code read. At this point the diesel tech comes and tells me that my fuel system has been contaminated and they have to replace the entire fuel system and that I should call my insurance company to cover the cost. The insurance company sent out an inspector who took several fuel samples. Now after 16 days without my truck the test samples have came back as 100% pure diesel fuel with no trace evidence of contamination and they will not cover the cost. They are currently sending me legal documentation as well. The Ford dealer knowing this information refuses to budge from their contamination claims. This issue happened on January 15, 2014.

car   Diesel Fuel System problem of GMC C2500

The vehicle involved was a 2003 GMC 2500 hd. While driving, large amount of smoke came out. Took it to gm dealer who said that it the fuel injectors were leaking. Looked online and noticed hundreds of reports of the same action. GMC apparently did an extended warranty for the issue, but only covered it for 7 years from time of purchase and up to 200,000 miles. Talked to local dealer who denied the service and gm wont replace the fuel injectors. It was Monday, October 7, 2013 when this diesel fuel system issue happened.

car   Diesel Fuel System problem of GMC Sierra 3500

The vehicle involved is a 2002 GMC Sierra 3500. The vehicle identification number (VIN) of the car was 1GTJK33162_. I first noticed that the anti-lock brakes were activating at slow speeds ( 5-10 mph ) under dry road conditions. This was prior to brake line incident on 4-14-2012 but I am not sure of exact date. I researched the anti-lock brakes and found NHTSA id campaign #05v379000 action # pe05020 but this did not include my home state of kentucky. However, I have been working in ohio since the purchase of said vehicle 10-17-2001 to current date 2-11-2013. On 4-14-2012 I was preparing to take my boat to fuel it . While checking the trailer lights I stepped on the brake pedal and it went straight to the floor. I found that the brake line to the rear wheels had burst in half and was severely corroded. Upon closer inspection I found that all the brake lines showed signs of severe corroision. On 2-8-2013 I discovered that diesel fuel was leaking near the fuel tank and fuel cooler. It was found to be a corroded return fuel line between the cooler and the fuel tank . Again upon closer inspection all fuel lines show moderate to severe corroision. This problem occurred on Saturday, Apr. 14, 2012.

car   Diesel Fuel System problem of Lexus Rx400h

The vehicle having this issue was a 2006 Lexus Rx400h. My 2006 Lexus RX 400h has experienced a vibration during acceleration. It seems to stall the engine. Bring the vehicle to dealer for checking. The dealer said my vehicle uses incorrect grade of gasoline or not good quality gasoline and recommend that I shall always use better quality gasoline, I. E. Gasoline from shell. The vibration is caused by the misfire. Subsequently using the gasoline from shell and the vibration seems to be reduced or go away. Later on, try to use a different brand of gasoline (same grade, premium) and the vibration comes back. It seems the vibration has something to do with the timing of ignition which is controlled by the computer. It does not make sense that the design of computer software modeling is based on certain brand of gasoline or the design margin is so tight that the ignition timing does not work with the gasoline that is slight deviated from the gasoline that Lexus uses to make the design. If I drive the car long distance or out of town and can not find the gas station that sell the gasoline which produce no vibration, then, I could run into a serious situation that my vehicle could be stalled or broken down due to severe vibration. This problem occurred on 03/02/10.

car   Diesel Fuel System problem of Mazda MAZDA6

The car involved was a 2008 Mazda Mazda6. 1. There was no warning to this failure, I was on a motorway (u. K) I check my oil levels every single week 2. I had an engine over-run and could only be stopped by switching the engine off, the rev counter hit maximum and a huge cloud of white smoke was left behind me. Consequences are now I am left without a car and I could have died because I was approaching a roundabout 700 yards away and swerved between 2 lanes of moving traffic to force a stop on a lay-by. 3. Nothing was done, Mazda are blaming me for the incident even after I had my oil checked and results shown a 62% diesel oil contamination, they blame the dpf (diesel particulate filter) for this over-run as I am not doing enough "long journey" miles. Which I was, no warning lights appeared before or after the incident and the oil levels are dramatically above the full mark. No fault codes are shown on Mazda computer. My car is sitting useless on my drive as we are all to scared to drive it. This issue happened on August 1, 2008.

car   Diesel Fuel System problem of Mercedes Benz ML320

The vehicle is a 2009 Mercedes Benz Ml320. The VIN of the problem Ml320 is 4JGBB25E19_. This car should qualify as a lemon. We spent over $65k on it new in January of 2009 and it has easily costs us $65k to keep it running since. Something significant breaks on it every 60 days since owning it. The turbo went out most recently after a bad oil seal let oil into it. $6500! the car may have sadly been cursed since day one. Our sales person at Mercedes Benz of sf died right after we bought it. Things started to break immediately after. People ran into it, etc. It has been the worst car owner experience in my life. The failure date was 01/15/2009.

car   Diesel Fuel System problem of Mercedes Benz E320

The vehicle having this issue was a 2004 Mercedes Benz E320. The VIN of this vehicle is WDBUF65J34_. Vehicle has strong gasoline odor in the passenger cabin. Appears to be similar to other complaint reports for same vehicle type (e type). No gas leaking below vehicle. Concerned that fire might result from spark in the cabin or near the car. Shouldn't this be a recall issue for public safety?. It was Mon., Dec. 16, 2013 when this diesel fuel system issue occurred.

car   Diesel Fuel System problem of Nissan Xterra

The VIN of the car is 5N1AN08W47_. I own a 2007 Nissan Xterra with 30,200 miles on it. Earlier this year I filled my gastank and drove from station. 1 mile down the road the check engine light went on, the gastank needled dropped to empty and the gas warning light went on. Dealership service dept. Told me the fuel level sending unit was stuck and that it was safe to drive and when I drove about 25 miles the gastank level would go back up to full and the light go off. The check engine light, however, stayed on. This happened again when I filled my tank. I returned to dealer, had diagnostic check and verified the problem. They turned off the light. The same problem continued but after a few more fills the gastank level stays anywhere 1/2 full or 1/4 full. . In may I was called by Nissan and told there may be a recall on my vehicle. I called the dealer and Nissan recalled the 2006 and 2008 year Xterras but not the 2007, however, I have verified that all three years have the identical fuel level sending unit. I then called Nissan n. A. Was given a case number and after 2 weeks and 3 calls I received a return call by a technician; was told my vehicle was outside of the mfgrs warranty and not eligible for assistance. I asked for and received a written confirmation of their decision. It is very disconcerting to continually drive with the check engine light on. Something else internally to my vehicle could cause the check engine light to go on and I wouldn't know it. Also unless I reset the trip indicator each time I fill my tank I would never know how much gas I have left in the tank. Because of the safety issue I had Nissan replace the fuel level sending unit at my own expense. I think the 2007 Xterra should have been included in the March 2010 recall of the 2006 and 2008 Xterras because they all have the same problem or recalled now as a stand alone. . . It was Friday, March 19, 2010 when this diesel fuel system issue occurred.

car   Diesel Fuel System problem of Toyota Highlander

The vehicle involved was a 2006 Toyota Highlander. The car had a crash. Basics are the wheel on my 2006 innova split inhalf while driving down the road at 25kph. Innova was maintaned by Toyota so improper wheel installation would also be their problem. This wheel was recalled in vietnam around Dec. 2009, a mechanic at Toyota of philippines has told me Toyota knew of the bad philippine wheels but they could not track them and same wheels may be in the USA! for a longer story as to what has happened and what Toyota has not done can be found on my old site. car   Diesel Fuel System problem of Toyota Corolla

I have a 2009 Toyota Corolla with a serial number starting with a "j". Toyota told me my car isn't part of the recall. I have experienced two occasions where the accelerator pedal has been stuck. Once when the car was in park about two months ago and I though it was the floor mat so I switched out floor mats since my car was not part of the recall. Then on sat, 3/13/10 I was merging on to the highway and I pressed down hard on the gas pedal to speed up because a car was beside me. All of the sudden the pedal was stuck and I continued to speed up when I let pressure off the gas pedal. I put my foot on the brake and the car wasn't stopping. Thinking I wasn't pressing hard enough I put both feet on the petal still not even slowing down. Finally, I shifted the car into neutral and could still hear the engine revving but the car slowed down quickly. Thinking that I was imaging it when the car slowed enough I shifted it back to drive and it took off again without pressing the gas pedal. I quickly shifted it back into neutral and was wondering what I was going to do and I heard a loud pop or snap with the gas pedal and then the car was fine. It stopped accelerating on it's own without me turning off the car. I checked the floor mat and it wasn't stuck. I called the Toyota dealership and they are looking at the problem but said they have been instructed not to fix anything if they can't replicate the problem because it's not part of the recall as the car I have was made in japan. I also called the Toyota general line and reported the problem. My concern is that my car won't be fixed as the warranty runs out at 30,000 miles and I have 29,000 miles on my car and the recall doesn't cover my model. I am nearly certain that Toyota hasn't recalled all of the car affected because it's not the specific gas pedal that's the problem as my car doesn't have the identified gas pedal. The problem isn't related to the gas pedal. I don't think they know what the problem is. It was Saturday, March 13, 2010 when this diesel fuel system issue occurred.

car   Diesel Fuel System problem of Volkswagen Jetta

The car is a 2011 Volkswagen Jetta. Driving on surface street at approximately 40 mph. In 2011 Jetta sportwagen tdi with only 23000 miles . "service now! " warning came on and car immediately stalled in the middle of traffic and would not restart. Had to be towed to vw dealer, has been there 5 days so far waiting for high pressure fuel pump replacement. From investigation, this is not an obscure event, is known to occur with this model and year tdi (diesel) engines. If this occurred on a high speed freeway, I could have easily been struck and killed when car suddenly stopped. It was Apr. 17, 2014 when this diesel fuel system issue happened.

car   Diesel Fuel System problem of Volkswagen Jetta

The vehicle involved was a 2009 Volkswagen Jetta. Driving at approximately 65 mph on the interstate on Thursday March 27, 2014, the car began to flash the "glow plug" warning light along with a message "engine fault workshop". At this point in time the car would only do about 50 mph on the interstate for about 2 more miles until I found a safe location to pull off the interstate. The cars engine stalled as I was making my way off the road. I was unable to get the car to start again. The car was towed the same day to a local garage of my choice. The technicians took five days to diagnose the problem, which was determined to be a failed high pressure fuel pump. I was told the entire fuel system must be replaced in order for the car to run properly, due to the fact that the entire fuel system gets contaminated with tiny metal shavings when the pump fails, the cost was estimated at $8000-$10000 from a local vw dealer. I called the dealer and explained the problem, they told me they are aware of this issue on some models but there are currently no recalls, so nothing would be covered under a warranty. I am not having the car fixed due to the fact that I don't have that kind of money and the car itself is only valued at around $14000. My choices are to let the bank repo my car and ruin my perfect credit that I have been building for 15 years, or keep paying the $350 a month for a car that doesn't run for the next 4 years. It is a crime that vw is aware of this but are continuing to rob us unfortunate people that own these cars because they will not issue a recall or cover repair bills. Thank you for your time on this subject. The failure date was March 27, 2014.

car   Diesel Fuel System problem of Volvo XC90

The VIN of this vehicle was YV1CZ91H94_. Transmission failure twice and fuel pump replaced and still leaking in our Volvo Xc90 2004 t6 truck. Volvo replaced the transmission twice, but we still had repair costs both times. Fuel pump replaced and still leaking causing large amounts of gas fumes in vehicle. Taking into Volvo to fix fuel pump again today that is covered under the recall but just got it back from 2nd transmission repair where I had to pay for the internal engine leaks that could not be detected that in turn contaminated the 2nd transmission. I do not believe I should have paid $1600 in repairs when it has been serviced and cannot detect these internal oil leaks from the engine. This make and model year has been costly and dangerous. Truck has stopped in the middle of left turn, almost resulting in head on collision. This truck seems to fall under lemon law. We have had problems with this truck since 2007. It has had 2 transmission replacements and now 2 fuel pumps, both Volvo pumps. I should incur zero costs other than oil changes and general maintenance. These are major equipment failures in this Volvo Xc90 t6 2004 and the entire vehicle should be recalled. I will be submitting my repair costs to Volvo north America. Thank you for your review of this in advance. This diesel fuel system issue occurred Monday, Jul. 23, 2007.

The VIN of the car is WA1VMBFE3A_. Filled Audi Q7 tdi 2010 model on 5/4/2011 with diesel fuel and made it about 3/4 of a mile and the vehicle started to rattle and shake hard, felt almost like a flat tire. . . . . car   Diesel Fuel System problem of BMW X5

The vehicle having this issue was a 2010 BMW X5. The vehicle identification number (VIN) is 5UXFF0C54A_. Exhaust is entering the cabin through the venting filling the car with harmful gases. I brought it to the dealer and they diagnosed it as a egr cooler/valve issue. There is currently an "open campaign" for the erg bracket to be replaced by BMW but no safety recalls on the egr cooler or valve. I am concerned about the safety of this issue since the leak starts off slow and undetectable at first then grows to be a serious burn in your eyes and nose. This could be especially harmful to families with young children. This issue happened on 01/23/2014.

car   Diesel Fuel System problem of BMW 335

The vehicle is a 2009 BMW 335. This is in reference to my car 2009 335d purchased in August 2009 from momentum BMW in houston, TX. I bought this vehicle primarily for its advertised fuel economy of city/hwy 23/36 combined with superb performance. I primarily use this car from highway driving from san antonio to houston, approx. 150 miles each way. I go to houston twice a month to visit my two sons who are doctors. I have put on an average of 10,000 miles per year, and today have approx. 40,000 miles. I also purchased BMW extended warranty of 7 yrs. /70k miles. Before all the major software/firmware updates, I used to routinely get around 36-38 mpg on the highway at 70mph and since almost 1 year or more, I average like 28-30 mpg on the highway. It has dropped by more than 6-8 mpg before these updates for both highway and city mpg. Being an engineer by training, this is a statistical average for over a year. I have mentioned many times since 2012 to present to the BMW dealer in san antonio that my fuel economy has suffered substantially. I also had the shop foreman at BMW dealership verify by test driving for almost 40 minutes each way on the highway, that the max. I got was 30. 6mpg with average speed of 65mph. From day one, I have only put either shell or chevron diesel fuel in this car. This car has always been maintained by the BMW of san antonio. I am very disappointed that I no longer can get this fuel economy and BMW dealer have exhausted their efforts in fixing this issue but could not resolve it. I never had this happen to any of my other german cars that they still give me the same fuel economy of when I first bought them but in fact in most cases the fuel economy has improved after the engine break in period. Foreman states that it needs decarbonization but BMW does not want to pay for it and it is quite expensive. It was Monday, Sep. 3, 2012 when this diesel fuel system issue happened.
