Takata recall. The contact owns a 2008 Chevrolet Avalanche. While driving 65 mph, the vehicle lost all power without warning. The contact was able to pull the vehicle over to the side of the road and restarted the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic for diagnostic testing, but there was no failure code. The contact was notified that a possible issue could be the amount of keys on the keychain. The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 16v381000 (air bags); however, the part to do the repair was unavailable. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issues. The failure mileage was unknown. VIN tool confirms parts not available.

Cracks in dash cover around air bag and over instrument cluster. No hard road hits, no junk on the dash. Heard a rattle, looked up there and found the cracks. Thousands of incidents across internet. Seat tracks rough sliding and motor failure. Outside mirror motor failure. I am the only driver and dont move seats much. Lack of use kills motors? rear window leaking water due to plastic frame shrinking, cracking and leaving a gap. Only took the window out once before finding it leaking 2 years later due to the plastic frame shrink and crack. Door handles paint falling off in flakes. Fronts replaced by dealer at 17k. 38k rear handles started doing it. Dealers unwilling to do anything after 36k. 78k on truck now, making last 575. 00 payment this month and truck needs thousands in repairs. I would have thought buying a 45k truck and using it as a family traveler it would be the last one I would have to buy since it is well cared for. These trucks are now know for problems and less appealing. Selling it isn't easy because of these continual issues gm failed to address. The truck was discontinued in 2013 most likely due to mfg defects and complaint ratios. All gm trucks have these issues from 07 through 2013.

While driving or in park the tachometer sticks as does the speedometer. This has lasted from minutes to days. The vehicle appears to run properly, however, I am very leery of my safety and the safety of my children when they are in control of the vehicle.

The vehicle's abs and brake lights are on. I took the vehicle in for repair and a state inspection. The part to repair the abs and brake light are on national back order with no definite availability date. The truck is not usable because of the failed state inspection.
While driving all my cluster gauges froze. . . I was parked and it still said I was going 40mph. . . How is this not a recall? no clue how fast I was going, nor how much fuel I had. . . We should be reimbursed something.
I used my factory remote to unlock the truck the igntion sparked twice and then went on fire, for no reason it just started burning the entire steering column and all of what is around it burned up we used a pitcher of water to put the fire out, I contacted gm and was advised there was no recall for this. It can not be common for a car or truck to just ignite unlocking the doors we are grateful that I was not in the truck and just suffered burns to my hands trying to put the fire out if not my entire home would have been in flames.

After and during rain the seat warmers continually turn on over and over for several days. Its been happening since about 40,000 miles right after expiratiion.
It started with the airbag light, but nobody will own up to fixing it, as we moved from PA to FL. Then the brake lines went, all of them, now with the airbag issue the pcm is sending all kinds of stupid codes like the airbag issue is affecting the whole electrical system in the truck.

The engine has a hesitation due to a manufacuring problem it also uses more oil than it should between oil changes. Also having problem with the electrical system every time I turn around something stops working like the side mirror on the drivers side won't fold in like its supposed to and the backup sensor stopped working. Tried to get our mechanic to fix it but it needs a code to get into the electrical system and gm won't give it to anyone but thier own mechanics. So now we have to go to the dealership to have it fix which will cost alot more. About amonth after purchase the dash got a small crack around the passenger air bag. This is our second 2007 Avalanche the first one had no problems at all and I had no idea that this model had so many problems that the manufacturer won't fix. With as much as these trucks cost even used the should have to repair things that are manufacturer defects.
I was driving on a bridge when the check engine light came on and the engine power reduced. The truck immediately dropped to below 30 mph and I could not accelerate up the bridge and barely avoiding an accident, as this was in a heavy traffic area. I was able to get it to the dealership and are working on it now. This if the fifth time this has happened to my truck. My wife and I just sold our 2007 Chevrolet tahoe and the only reason was the engine power reduced error occurred on it seven times, three in month prior to selling it. This is a major problem and could have easily resulted in a severe accident. Both cars were only ever serviced at Chevrolet dealerships and each time, they insisted it was fixed and the problem was gone. We have no faith in Chevrolet at this time!.

I was driving approximately 15 to 20 mph down a hill that was curvy and all of a sudden my truck completely shuts off as I was driving down the hill and almost went into a ditch because the truck just shut off while in drive and luckily I was quick enough to put it in neutral so I could steer it away from the ditch and I turned the ignition over and luckily it turned on while in neutral otherwise I would of crashed into the ditch. Then it shut off again about 30 seconds after and luckily I was able to put it in neutral again so I could steer and coast down the hill because it wouldn't start up the second time when it all shut off. I was stranded at the bottom of the hill near a light so I tried to start it again and it would keep trying to turn over but wouldn't start again. I was stranded in the middle of the road and had to call aaa to tow my Avalanche to my house. This could of killed me if I wasn't quick enough to figure out to put it in neutral to be able to steer. There should be a recall on whatever made this happen and I still don't know what is wrong with it because it happened late last night and I was looking for recalls and it doesn't show anything on this.
I was issued a recall a few years back specific to my vehicle about a blower motor operation malfunction. It stated that settings on the blower motor may not function properly. For example, when I turn on the air or heat I have settings for 5 blower motor options. All the settings 1-4 work just fine, setting 5 does not work at all. When I set hvac to setting 5 no air blows out. I have since then misplaced that recall notice. If you have any information on this recall can you please get in contact with me thank you.
I was on vacation and had my Avalanche running while I packed it up to return home. After about 5 minutes of running idle, the check engine light came on and the display showed reduced engine power, service traction control, and service stabilitrak. This had happened to the truck three times before and each time they replaced the accelerator pedal positional sensor. (I also had a 2007 Chevrolet tahoe, and after having it repaired seven times for failing sensors and going into reduced engine power while on the highway three times we were forced to sell it). We are very familiar with this issue! however, I was able to locate a dealership in the area and they tested it to find that the throttle body was out, and they replaced the throttle body and the associated sensor. I was relieved to hear that this was a different issue than before and that my problems were fixed. This was not the case. Last week, the engine power reduced again and the truck is now in the shop for the fifth time.
I was driving at night and the low beam lights stopped working. I change the fuses, low beam lights, daytime running light relay, and headlight relay and the low beam light still doesn't work.

The wire harness under dashboard was rubbing against the emergency brake mechanism and shorted out catching fire. I was lucky to have been stopped and able to put the fire out within seconds resulting in very minimal damage but had I been on the highway the result would have been very different. However it did short out other electronics inside the vehicle such as the rearview mirror putting me out hundreds if not thousands of dollars to repair.
2007 chevy Avalanche I believe should be included in this recall #1: 2004-2012 Chevrolet malibu, 2004-2007 Chevrolet malibu maxx, 2005-2010 pontiac g6, 2007-2010 Saturn aura. The vehicle, when scanned is producing an error code of p0573- cruise control/brake switch a circuit. As a result of this error the functionality of my cruise control is jeopardized, rendering the vehicles cruise control at sometimes useless, not functional or worse disengaging without warrant causing a safety concern while driving.
Comunting to work approximately 3 miles away from home, traveling in the dark at 7 am, I flipped my high beam headlights on and suddenly all electrical function went out of the automobile (no headlights or electrical instrumentation). This lasted for approximately 1 to 2 seconds and suddenly and all electrical functions was restored. Things after that seemed ok, but about 6 miles down the road the engine "service stabilizer control light appears" . I traveled another 11 miles to plainville, and when I arrived the "stabilizer control light went out. I took the vehicle to a mechanic them to evaluate it. After several hours and two diagnostic tests all electrical function reflect normal. The problem could not be isolated or duplicated. I contact general motors yesterday, to report the serious safety defect and how critical this is and I could have been injurred or killed at that speed driving in the dark. I also asked them if they have had similiar reportings of this occurrence and received a mixed response. There response was bureaucratic, take it to a Chevrolet dealership. I said no. I am not paying another $150. 00 tell me we cannot find a problem. I kept stressing there is a problem "vehicles suddenly do not just dropped off all electrical power and function and magically just come back on". This is not normal for any vehicle to happen. I also informed them as a courtesy I would speak to them (general motors) first before I contact this agency. I also tried to emphasize to them, people should have a direct line of communication to the corporation to report safety and life threatening issues directly. The nature of the response is basically we don't do anything unless we receive information from gm service departments.
Takata inflators:my air bag light came on, it was reset and came back on a short time after. I have electrical issues with cruise control, radio and fan for heat and a/c. Once in s while I get a smell ofburning wire. My transmission began bumping on acceleration several months ago also when cranking it move forward a bit in park. The transmission bump is when accelerating, the electrical issues are random, the airbag light stays on.
Upon arrival at work and parking my Chevrolet Avalanche in the parking lot, I heard a couple of popping noises come from under the hood of the vehicle. I pulled the hood release lever and noticed flames emerging from the engine compartment. I called emergency services, but the vehicle was totally engulfed in flames before they could put the fire out. The vehicle was was a total loss.
The contact owns a 2007 Chevrolet Avalanche. The contact stated that the driver's side door control panel was no longer working and a burning odor were emitting from the panel. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure and current mileage was 112,000.
I was in line at a drive through at burger king and as I pulled up to the cashier¿s window to pay for my food the engine started to accelerate. I put my foot on the brakes as hard as I could while the truck was shaking and lurching trying to go forward. I can¿t say for sure how high the tachometer was, but it seemed to almost peg for a few seconds while this was going on. Finally I jammed the transmission into neutral and the engine returned to normal idle. I say jammed because it took great strength to get it out of drive. For about 10-15 seconds this truck was totally out of my control. I drove away and parked for a few minutes to gather myself as I was visibly shaken. . I was thankful that no one was in front of me in at burger king or that I was not in a parking lot somewhere where someone could have been injured or killed. I had brought this vehicle in more than once to the dealer (rk cheverolet) and complained about the transmission not shifting properly and was always told they could not find a problem. After reporting this they decided to put a device to monitor the computer. I drove around with this for about 3 months and nothing happened and they said the data collected was inconclusive. Since the truck had just went out of warranty they said they could not do anymore. This is totally unacceptable.
I have a 2008 chevy Avalanche ,the truck has been having a lot of electrical problems. For the past month the truck will flicker when I drive but it is un constant. At first I though it was a battery issue so I took it to autozone and they checked the battery and said the battery is fine its a electrical problem in the truck. I did some research and all the reviews and that the Avalanche did have a recall on there electrical isuess. So I called a local chevy dealer and told them about the problem and how it might have a recall on the electrical system and they said no. So I was driving yesterday on the highway and my truck started to flicker and them turn off completely and locked up on me. I could of been in a wreak but thankfully the highway was not busy and I stop on the highyway. I then tried to turn the truck on and showed no life at all in the truck. I kept trying till finnay it turned on. So I could of died because of the electrical problem with chevy. I would like yaw to look into this because this could be a big lawsuite and all I want is my truck to work fine, thank you.
My speedometer and several gauges have been acting erratically for months, and now the speedometer battery gauge, and the oil pressure gauge have stopped working completely. In researching the problem, I have found out that there was a recall to fix this problem several years ago. I never received notice of this recall. I have lived in the same location since 2001, but have never been notified of the recall. If there was a recall affecting the instrument panel, I would have taken it in. Why didn't Chevrolet notify all owners?.
Rattle form the a/c belt tension-er when accelerating. Have changed multiple new tension-ers and there is still the rattle from the belt tessioner. I have found a TSB on the a/c compressor that leads to the issue.
Gm TSB #10047479 this is a well know problem on gm truck and SUV models with power adjustable pedals. The wires rub against the mechanism causing a short and making errors to the computer causing communication problems and loss of power. Repaired at dealership, and charged $300 for labor no parts involved. Not covered because it is a TSB, not a recall. This should be a recall because it could cause an accident from loss of power.
Right front door power lock does not work. Cannot lock or unlock with remote or with inside control. Can only unlock/lock door by button on door. This is a safety concern.
I'm have been experiencing several technical issues with my 2002 Avalanche through years. I can removed my key when my ignition turned on to drive. My truck also reduces engine speed when driving at 45 mpg. It result for me to pull over on the interstate to reset the pcm to drive. Then my check engine light will appear on also. Then it will clear itself sometimes. Sandy sanson a gm dealership in pensacola FL where I bought the car in 2006 has charge me unnecessary for parts and labor to fix these issues. When bringing the problem to the attention of auto repair. A sale rep said my keychain can where my ignition out. He also stated that my car needed other component parts in order to fix the problem. Which never solve the main issue that I requested to be fix. I also talk to the head supervisor and got poor customer service. Furthermore, it has not been resolve at this moment. I continue to drive because my truck is the only transportation I have at the moment. I'm going to speak to the dealership again about this issues, but please assist me because I been having the same problems. That are in the headline at this moment. I written about my reduce engine speed in the past.
The contact owns a 2006 Chevrolet Avalanche. The contact stated that while starting the ignition, a strong burning odor emitted inside of the vehicle. The contact noticed that the heater blower wire harness and resistor melted. The contact replaced the resistor personally but the failure persisted. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 150,000.

Cracked, broken dashboard. Cracked in 2 corners of the passenger air bag. Crack goes all the way across to the drivers side. A section around the speaker has completely broke off. Cruise control no longer workers. Some speakers work sometimes, other times other ones work. Makes horrible rattling sound. Dealership says won't cover it and a new dash is over $800 for parts.
It is well known that Chevrolet/gm has a major quality problem with powerdoor locks that has been going on for many years. One only need to google chevy door locks to get an idea of the magnitude of the problem. . Read more...
Door locks on driver door worked off and on with either armrest switch or key fob. Problem now affects all four doors.
I pulled off on the side of the freeway to take a call. I started up my truck stepped on the gas to get back on the freeway and all of a sudden my speedometer went from 0 to the other end of the reading. It stayed there all the way home so I could not tell how fast I was driving. When I stopped, it started to go back down but as I would press the gas it would go all the way past the highest reading. It seems to get stuck now and then.
