At point of collision, neither air bags deployed and seat belt did not work effectively to restrain my adolescent son. If the seat belt had restrained him properly and the air bag had indeed deployed; his teeth marks would not have been embedded into the dash. I firmly believe he and myself would not have suffered the amount of injuries if the mechanisms had worked properly. I had a head injury and whiplash, also.

I was in an accident where the car had frontal impact damage and no air bags deployed. I hit a guardrail and a concrete wall due to black ice. The car is totaled out. I am deeply concerned that no air bags were deployed. I was traveling north under an overpass when my light turned green and a car coming off the hwy heading west ran the stop light. I hit the brakes when I saw her but it was too late and she was going too fast. The front bumper on the 2005 Chevrolet Aveo I was driving hit her car on the drivers side aft quarter panel. The impact spun her car all the way around and I just rolled to a stop. I got out to go talk to her and she drove off. I got back in my car and followed her. When I caught up to her, she was a nervous wreck. I talked her into following me across the street to a circle k gas station and waited for police. She was driving a 2005, I think, Lexus 330, again I think. The bad thing was neither one of our cars airbags deployed. Her car might be correct but all my damage was straight in the front on the bumper and the hood has some minor damage but the front bumper is trashed. I was wearing my seatbelt but I did injure my back and my stomach area. I have not been to the doctor yet as I am waiting to make sure I'm not just sore from the impact.

In June, 2011 my sister was driving a Aveo and clipped a road sign on the right front bumper, continued to go straight over to left down an embankment of approx. 6 ft and 40-45 mph and hit steering wheel so hard that it broke steering wheel and busted her heart killing her instantly. I went to school for automotive and know a lot about cars and this accident makes no sense. I took pics of everything. Even though the airbag was out it didn't appear to have inflated completely and the clothing my sister had on she should've had some sort of cuts, burns,abbrasions,but instead nothing but a busted heart. She also hit the windshield with her forehead. I saw no sort of residue on or in the car as evidence that the airbag did what it was supposed to. She sustained injuries common to those injuries sustained from a car not equipped with an airbag. I was even going to see if Aveo came with a black box and to pull it off and have it analyzed, but the car got sent to junk yard before I could do that. No conclusion to this whole ordeal and this great loss we've suffered will ever bring her back, but knowing what I do about cars, I have so many questions and really want this looked into. I have inc reports pics of the scene with and without the car , as well as the car by itself panel for panel pics of the car. I know the Aveo is not one of the vehicles named on the news, but there are other similar cars with the same issues.

I have a 2006 Chevrolet Aveo. The airbag readiness light stays on after automobile is started. The owners manual says not to drive this vehicle. Airbags may not inflate in a crash or may inflate without a crash. This is the second time this has happened. The first was in January 2008. Was covered under warranty. This time it is not. I don't think I should be responsible for the cost of this repair. It is a safety feature and is not something I can repair myself. Why should I be responsible for their defect?.

We helped our daughter, who is in college, purchase her first automobile. We went to autoworld in petaluma, specifically petaluma Hyundai (owned by autoworld). This means, if you walk into Hyundai, it doesn't really mean anything because the salesperson can sell you a car from any of their other dealerships. In our case, we were sold 2008 Chevrolet Aveo, which was previously a rental car with factory warranty still left on it. We bought an extended warranty, as we explained to our salesperson; that since our daughter was in college, and working part time, she could afford her payment, normal maintenance/ vehicle costs; however, she needed to have coverage for major repair problems if they arose. Unfortunately, the airbag computer system is having problems for the second time now and victory Chevrolet says the cost to repair is $2,600. 00. Ok, the extended warranty should cover that, right? no. Apparently, the warranty we were sold doesn't cover airbags. Victory Chevrolet contacted the factory district service manager to ask for assistance, since the vehicle was so new and it was only due to the fact, that the car had exceed the 36,000 mile factory warranty. Chevrolet told victory that it would have been possible if we were the first buyers, but since we were the second owners they would not help. So then the question is; is it a product warranty? or, is it a buyer warranty? we were told it is a product warranty. We did a check on the NHTSA web site and according to the national highway traffic safety administration; there have been numerous problems with the airbag system of this make and model over numerous years. It would appear that Chevrolet is well aware of the problem; however, the company is taking a minimalist approach to the problem, in the hope the warranty expires; so the burden will fall to the vehicle owners. Nor, has the dealerships management really made any good faith effort strong assertions to Chevrolet on our behalf.

Three times in the last year my airbag system malfunctioned. April, 2008 dealer stated that there was an electrical problem. Then April of this year I had it repaired twice. They stated that there was another electrical problem.

I have been involved in 2 wrecks, and my airbag has not gone off either time. Secondly my headlights burned out the wire melts gets hot and my lights just turn off while I'm driving.

Traveling on 695 driving on an overpass from work, 05 Aveo pulled to the right. When I attempted to correct the direction of the car by turning slightly left, the car could not be corrected with steering or brake, it went left across the other lane and hit a jersey wall. Car rolled over. Speed was about 50-55. I was lucky I had my seat belt on and was not hit by another auto or truck. Whether was clear but windy. Time was 1:30pm.
