I own a 2005 chevy Aveo. Have owned since 7-15-05. No problems except for head gasket replaced while still under warranty. On 3/23/09, I was on the way to work & went to pass a car. As I pulled back in to the lane & took my foot off the gas the cars speed still increased. Applied brakes and could still feel the engine pulling as if I were still pressing the gas pedal. Slid in to neutral and the rpms raced to 7. I flipped back in to drive & the car kept speeding up. Put back in to neutral & hit the gas a couple of times to try & kick it down & it finally went after the 3rd time flipping it back & forth between neutral & drive. Side note: car was sitting out all night in with temp dropping to teens with windchill. This is the second incident. However, the first time it was not this extreme. I was at approx 80-85 mph before it kicked back down this time.

On December 8, 2007 I took the 2007 chevy Aveo into the dealership because the check engine light was on and the car would act like it was going to stall. The dealer had my vehicle 11 days and replaced 3 gaskets, 2 valves 4 seals and changed the fluids, vehicle was at 13,143 miles. Vehicle was then taken back in February x 2 and March to dealership in which I bought vehicle for the same problem check engine light on and all 3 times the computer would register it was the throttle body and they did nothing and they treated me with no respect. I then took to another dealer and they could not do anything until the light came back on. As anyone knows it takes the computer sometimes up to 300 miles to reset itself. So when the check engine light came back on 3 weeks later I took back to dealer and they stated that it was the trottleboday and it was just recalled 2 weeks prior. All the wasted gas and time. I was in contact with general motors the whole time and they did nothing for me I had the supervisor tell me after the throttlebody was replaced they would nothing for my time and wasted gas and very ruse man. And now my vehicle is back in the shop for the 6th time in the last 2 months because the check engine light was back on and she was losing power again. They have now replaced spark plugs, wires, ignition coil, fuel injectors. , values and cam shaft. So now after 12 visits to the shop almost 35 days without my vehicle being in commission I am filing for the lemon law. I will never purchase another gm vehicle again. Anyone who is having anytype of problems with their vehicle there are laws out there that protect you. Yes it will cost me money to file it , but it will be worth it in the end. And word of wise always keep documentation on anything you have done to your vehicle you never know when you are going to need it.
