2 Engine Overheat problem of the 2005 Chevrolet Aveo

Failure Date: 11/18/2008

Plastic elbow on 2005 chevy Aveo, due to heat, broke, causing engine to overheat, had to have engine head resurfaced in March 2009; then catalytic converter went out. After fixing igniter, test proved, engine was only firing at less then 50% on cylinders 1 & 2 due to lack of compression, that began with plastic elbow breaking.

3 Engine Overheat problem of the 2004 Chevrolet Aveo

Failure Date: 10/29/2008

My car is a 2004, chevy Aveo, with 23,100 miles. The temperature gage showed the engine to be overheating on my way to work on October 29, 2008. There were no warning lights, only a rambling engine sound and a burning type of smell. The reservoir tank was half empty and there was visible signs of leakage around the thermostat housing. The replacement of the thermostat housing remedied the failure. However, the thermostat housing from the factory is originally encased in plastic housing, but the chevy dealer retails the part with metal housing. The metal housing indicates chevys awareness, yet there is no existence of coverage on the warranty or any issuing of recall of the part.
