1 Ignition Module problem of the 2007 Chevrolet Aveo

Failure Date: 12/17/2015

Been smelling something that similar to plastic but could not locate anything but now I have had multiple fuses blown for low beams and drl. Ultimately all dashboard lights have now gone out along with no tail lights or low beams or drls at all and no horn. Dealer is saying that the fuse block is going to have to be replaced but the car only has 83,000 and noticed that there was a recall out there for the drl module melting or catching on fire but low and behold my car is not on that recall but looks to me that it should be. In addition to the lights not working correctly, the gear shifter will not come out of park and the key will not release from the ignition switch. I did also think it odd that my key would be hot to touch when it would release on previous occasions leading up to this failure. The first instance when the failure initially started with the lights and all that I could notice was while I was in a parking lot cranking the car, but the second time after changing out the fuse, the fuse blew again after I was driving on the road in 5 o'clock traffic.

2 Ignition Module problem of the 2009 Chevrolet Aveo

Failure Date: 06/30/2014

Had driven my car earlier that day with no problems. Mid-afternoon I got in my car to go run errands and it wouldn't start. When I would turn the key nothing would happen, no lights came on, no attempt for engine to turn over. Nothing. Quick check confirmed battery was charged, fuses good, and power getting to fuses. Had it towed to dealer. Inspection by gm technician found the instrument module had overheated and been damaged, which disabled the ignition and wouldn't allow car to start. Issue sounds similar to the recent recalls on the 2004-2008 Aveo's, where "the problem concerns the daytime running light module in the instrument panel. It could overheat, melt and cause a fire. " gm technician noted that he could tell the instrument module was melted cause he could smell the burning when he open up the dash.

When will the drl module replacement be available? it's been over 4 months since this came to light! do I have to wait until my car catches on fire? gm recalls just says not available yet! do you have more power now since the ignition recalls?.
