Five problems related to brake disc caliper have been reported for the 1996 Chevrolet Blazer. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
Brake calipers lock up causing damage to rotors and pads.
Brake caliper failed causing uneven wear of the brake pads.
On normal road conditions when slowing down or stopping at a red light the abs engages when not necessary. Rotors/calipers and pads replaced under 30,000 miles on passenger's side in 1/96 and the driver's side in 3/96, brakes pads on driver's side replaced again in 11/96 , pads and computer chips were replaced in 2/97. Vehicle back at dealership again.
Calipers failed.
Consumer learned after being in accident that a bolt in the brake caliper was missing, causing brakes to grind whenever brake are applied in an emergencey situation. Dealer notified , and informed consumer they don't beleive that it happened.
