Windshield wipers. . . Recentley I have been having many problems with the wipers working. The other night I was in tionesta PA. Driving up a mountain in a bad rain storm. . . The wipers completely stopped and this time I could not get them to come back on. I hit my brakes just in time before I went down over the mountain. Since I can not drive this vehicle. It has been raining and the wipers now do not work. I checked on recalls and seen that my vehicle was on the list for windshield wiper defects. How do I get this problem resolved?.

On certain minivans, pickup trucks, and sport utility vehicles with certain model-engine combinations the windshield wiper motor may fail due to cracked solder joints on the controller circuit board. The windshield wipers could work intermittently or not at all. Vehicle description: Mini vans. Some of these vehicles fail to comply with requirements of fmvss no. 208, "occupant crash protection. " the "fasten safety-belt" audible warning occasionally may not come on or may terminate in less than four seconds as required by the standard. I've been told that Chevrolet Blazer 97 and newer have been recalled for bad wiper motors. I own a 96 Chevrolet Blazer and need to replace it also. This has been occurring off and on now for 6 months, I thought it was the fuse at first, swapped vehicles, etc. . . Now I've been told that there was a recall on the 97's, however, I'll need to pay for my repair. Sounds like the same problem to me. I don't know why they aren't all recalled.
The windshield wipers on my 1996 chevy Blazer stopped unexpectedly. I contacted two chevy dealers about the problem. Each said the problem was common, but only 1997 Blazers are under recall. My 1996 Blazer has the same mechanism as the 1997 Blazer. I wrote to Chevrolet and was told only 1997's were under recall, which I already knew. I would like this defective equipment replaced. This can cause an accident.

Consumer states vehicle experiences periodic failures of the windshield wipers, this has been intolerable in damp weather and after car washes, dealer has been unsuccessful in correcting the problem.
I have called the GMC about the recalled 1996 Blazer for windshield wipers. According to them they say my vehicle does not fall under the recall. As of 03/19/01 they quit working. I have made several calls and gmac would look into it. I have a reference # that they have given me c01482358.

Windshield wiper motor circuit board failure. This vehicle was not included in recall for this safety defect, but the problem is exactly as described in other vehicles which were recalled for this problem. The dealer said that my vehicle did not qualify because the VIN # did not match #'s in the recall. I had to pay for the replacement of the wiper circuit board.

Intermittently windshield wipers quit working in the middle of operation. After a few minutes, operation continued. Dealer and the manufacturer were aware of this problem. Blazer was not included in recall # 98v15000 due to VIN. Problem has not been corrrected.
