When putting the vehicle into park, we are receiving a “shift to park” error. This issue appears to be common among thousands of general motors vehicles. However, the dealership is unable to assist us because the repair bulletin only applies to the 2019 model year and does not include the 2020 model year. Despite this, the issue we are experiencing is identical to the one reported for the 2019 model.

My 2019 Blazer gave a steering assist warning on 2 Nov 2024. I was aware of a recall for other Blazers but for some reason my VIN was not among those recalled. I took it to the dealership on 6 Nov 2024. The dealership has determined that the issue is indeed the same issue with those other Blazers that have been recalled but refuses to include my car in the recall because the VIN number wasn't originally among that recall. I was told that the car needed anew temperature gage and that they would have to order it, however, the component was available outside of the dealership. I paid for the diagnostics and the part, being told that the light(s) would stay on, I would still be able to drive it and that I would receive a call when the part came in. It is my understanding that the steering assist reduced can affect the power steering and essentially revert back to manual power steering, potentially causing a loss of control while driving and increasing the risk of accidents. There were no warnings of the steering failure assist warning. It just appeared on Nov 2, 2024 at 1130am. About 1240pm I noticed that the temp gage was inop and the check engine light was now illuminated. I contend that because gm has already identified the thermostat issue serious enough to do a recall, then all Blazers with that recall issue, VIN number aside, should be given the same consideration and not have to pay for something that gm has already taken responsibility for. The dealership however does not agree for the simple fact that the VIN was not identified in the original recall.
Steer assist and thermostat issue. The vehicle has 42,000 miles on it. Have not been able to obtain/find a new thermostat since November 2024.
My check engine light is on the, the temperature meter is stuck on cold, the a/c only blows hot air, and the engine fan is blaring loud as heck the moment the car is started. Also it keeps telling me the steering assist has failed. I have replaced the battery and checked the coolant. Still the same issues.
While my wife was pulling into park the car and pressing the brake, the car all of a sudden accelerated into the building. Pressing the brake failed to stop the car. No person was in the way of the car so no one other than my wife was at risk of injury. The problem has not been reproduced since the car was totaled. The car was inspected by the insurance for loss but that was it. Police and manufacturer have not inspected the car. No warnings were presented prior to the accident.

The vehicle is not recognizing the car is in park when it is placed in park.
2020 chevy Blazer - shift to park while gear is already in park: while putting the gear in park, the warning chime to shift it into park is initiated. It has happened 3 to 4 times in the past three days. I took the vehicle to the local chevy dealership. The service team/dept. Diagnosed that the transmission shifter unit assembly must be replaced. The 2019 chevy Blazer had these issues which prompted a TSB/recall however it wasn't extended to the 2020-year models and chevy dealership refused to include it as a warranted repair which just passed 44,000 miles. This is a safety issue, and it should be replaced without additional cost to customer as this issue was already identified as a safety concern in 2019, however chevy does not want to identify the issue as a covered repair per the manufactures warranty.
After I shift into park and press the button to turn my vehicle off, I receive a message on the dash that states "shift to park" and my vehicle will not turn off. This has happened on several occasions, but does not happen every time I attempt to turn my vehicle off. When I do receive the message, I usually have to restart my vehicle and move the shift out of park and back into park before I can turn the vehicle off. Sometimes, I am able to get the error message to go away by jiggling the shift.
When car is put in park and cut off the vehicle doesnt recognize its in park and a light comes on saying “shift to park”. I have to keep pushing gear shift forward repeatedly even though its in park already. The car will not fully turn off till this error message is cleared. Ive had the car checked multiple times and the dealership states there is no code registering for this problem so they cannot fix problem so I cant get it fixed. Ive researched this and it is a known issue for multiple chevy models. Service mgr also stated its s known issue in multiple models.
The lift gate on my vehicle closed suddenly and for no apparent reason as I was loading groceries into the vehicle. The lift gate hit me in the back of the head and did not retract/open upon contact. I had to quickly lift the lift gate with both hands to get out of the way and press the button for the lift gate to open. A couple of minutes later, the lift gate again closed suddenly and for no apparent reason; however, I was not hurt the second time and was able to move out of the way and press the button to stop/open the lift gate.

When I shift my car into park, I’m getting a “shift into park” warning on the dashboard and alarm is sounded telling me the car is not in park while it is. The car won’t shut off.
When I am shifting my vehicle to park (gear shift in console area) and turn my vehicle off I will get an error code in my dashboard that I need to shift to park. My gear shift in the console is lite up p and my dashboard electronic system says p; but when I try to turn my car off it won't turn off and stays on again giving me the error code that need to shift to park. I then have to turn my car back on to then try and turn it off with the same error code coming on. I can try pushing the gear shift further with no success, shift to different gears back to park, and try waiting a few minutes after shifting to park before turning it off and still no success. This is a safety issue that my car is not really in park and will take off if I take my foot off the brake when this is all occurring. I at one point had to turn my vehicle on and back off with no success at least 5 times before I can finally get it to turn off. This problem has been confirmed by multiple Chevrolet dealerships with all of them saying they have seen many vehicles (same make and model with other models included) with this issue. Manufacturer knows about it.
When I stop and put my vehicle in park the panel lights up and says put car in park and it is in park. I am not able to shut off my car when this does that. There have been recalls on the 2019 Blazers for this specific reason. Mine did not make the cut. I had to pay $400. 00 to get this fixed from the Chevrolet dealership and it's the same thing that has been happening for the other 2019 Blazers that had recalls. I would like to be reimbursed. Thank you.
After putting the vehicle into park I received an error message "action required shift vehicle to park". I was then unable to completely shut the vehicle off or lock the doors and the alarm and notice continued to sound. I ended up spending over $1200 in repair costs and car rental to have the vehicle fixed.
When I put the car in park it does not register and will not come out of accessory more. This is a known issue and gm is making customers out of warranty pay for it.
The backup camera in my preowned 2020 chevy Blazer rs stopped operating within 7 months of purchasing Jan 13, 2024. It was replaced by local dealership. However, less than two weeks, it stopped working again. It's a safety feature that's not operational concerned may lead to accident. I did some research online where other owners have experienced the same problem.
2019 chevy Blazer rs - 39,217 miles and shifter assembly is malfunctioning and will not allow car to turn off properly and leaving lights, beeping and miscellaneous dash indicators on. This is a known issue with chevy.
The warning on the dash kept going off to shift my car to park. Had to restart my car over 7 times and shift the gear multiple times before I could get the warning to go away so I could lock my vehicle.
6/12/2024 in damon parking lot in rochester mn. Going less than 10 miles an hr- cars in front of me and behind me looking for a parking spot. Stop and go at times. Went to turn corner to go from one level to the next and my Blazer took off "like a bullet". No control over accelerated speed- hit outer cement wall and slammed into 2 parked empty suvs. Could not go any farther. The 2 suvs slammed into cement wall in front of them. Injuries to both my passenger and myself. I have no idea what happened - it was so fast- I do know I had no control over accelerated rate causing accident. My 2020 chevy Blazer was totaled- it was inspected by american national insurance CO. Absolutely no warnings. Police report did not include any witness. Blazer is in the hands of the insurance CO. Chevy Blazer took off like a bullet - could not stop it!!police report 24026393 rochester police dept unable to upload . Checked no police report below so I could continue report.
Shift to park issues. Car not reading that it’s in park.
When in park my car says “shift to park” when it has clearly been shifted into park. I’ve read forums and it’s the same issue for many Chevrolet cars.
My park to shift won’t allow car to shut off.
Power liftgate randomly opens when driving or parked. Even when the power switch is turned to off the liftgate will unlock randomly either parked or driving. I have contacted the dealer and gm no recall currently exists. Dealer recommended replacing the latch mechanism which I have ordered to replace myself.
There were 2 incidents. 1) got a steering control error, plus my ac stopped working and the temperature gauge would exceed zero. I was able to drive. I had the error code reset and the problem went away 2) car stalled on a busy street and I got a service all wheel drive warning. I was able to restart the car and the error went away.
Vehicle keeps throwing “steering assistance reduced please drive with care” message. It causes my car fan to constantly run. It also causes the coolant gauge to not work the needle drops below that cool like it’s not on and then the car won’t blow cold air from the vents. This message tells me that something could be wrong with the steering which puts my safety at risk. This issue has been happening to me on and off for months now and there are multiple complaints of multiple chevy owners having the same problem this issue needs to be addressed.
Message pops up saying steering assist is reduced please drive with care. Then the car fan runs all the time on high and the cars temp gauge is running all the way on cool.
Shit to park issue. Whenever I put my 2020 chevy Blazer into park I get a "shift to park" error and the car will not turn off. I have to jiggle the shifter and hope that the vehicle appropriately engages into a park mode so I am able to turn the vehicle off. From doing a lot of research I have ascertaioned this is a known problem to gm. I urge an immediate recall for these gm vehicles so this issue can be fixed.
When I shift the car into park it is not recognizing it. I turn the car off and the info panel says the shift the car into park.
Ac blowing warm air when all the way on low and on full blast. Brought to repair shop and found that there was no freon, the radiator had a hole and the condensor had a hole. Had to have radiator, condensor and thermostat replaced along with adding freon. The total for this was $2077. 02 I should not be having these problem with a 2020 Blazer. I purchased this vehicle on 28 may 2020.
Shift to park when the car is in park notice.
Thermostat clicking off, internal cab thermostat not reading going to c, and air blows hot.
"shift to park" displayed in my dic when vehicle is in park, parking brake is set and trying to turn off the vehicle. Vehicle would not turn off. Had to wait 5-10 minutes each time this happened before I could safely turn off the vehicle. This happens intermittently and holds me hostage as the vehicle won't shut off and is therefore unsafe to leave.
I'm getting a shift to park message on my dashboard when the car is in park position telling me to take action with a loud dinging sound. I need to know if this is a gm issue? thanks.
