Fuel gauge does not work. This occurred at about 40,000 miles. Ultimately has resulted in running out of gas twice. Apparently, the fuel sending unit and fuel pump are an integral system, costing anywhere from $400 to $600 to repair.

Windshield wipers lose intermittent function and stick in low speed. Usually happens in a light rainstorm. Wipers, when malfunctioning, also will stay on going at low speed even with the switch turned off. Gas gauge also is not functioning right and has a tendency to bounce from extreme to extreme without warning.
Fluctuating fuel gauge and erroneous readings on quantity. Repaired 6 times since 01/03. Since repair to pcm, gauge now only bounces in park and neutral but locks on wherever needle is when put in gear to show that amount of fuel. Also reads different levels upon start of engine.

The fuel gauge stopped working and/or started fluctuating. It didn't show how much fuel was left in the tank and still doesn't. I was on the interstate and ran out of gas, luckily I made it to the shoulder and wasn't hit. Now it still doesn't work and shows either a full tank or completely empty all the time.
Gas gauge reads full with less than 1/2 tank. I also own a 1997 s-10 with the same problem. Reset the trip odometer after fill-up with both of them.
1. Driver and passenger seat recliner levers have broken over last few yrs, drivers side replaced 3 times, I had to pay 100. Deductible to fix each time. 2. Fuel guage indicator showed fuel tank 1/'2 full, no gas in the tank, car stopped in a dark street in an unsafe part of town, had to pay $100. Deductible to fix, no warning lights to show gas empty, car just suddenly stopped. 3. Rear trunk latch would not work, had to pay deductible for dealer to fix. 4. Windshiield wiper mechanism stopped working, dealer replaced after we paid deductible. 5. Currently there is a rubbing noise from the brake pedal when pedal depressed, car no longer under extended warranty, was brought to dealer's attn sev times before warrnty expired, dealer mech could find no problm.

The fuel gauge almost never reads less than 5/8 full. Every couple of months, it will show empty (when empty), monentarily, but them bounce back to 5/8 full. The dealer replaced the gauge cluster twice under warranty, and it failed again in a short period of time. I met another person who bought a 2001 with the same problem.
Fuel gauge ceases to function. Will correctly register full tank. As fuel is burned, the gauge level goes down until it reads half full, then starts going back up. When the tank is nearly empty, the gauge will read full. This is a common defect among Blazer owners, and gm acknowledges it in their service bulletins but no service solution is provided.
1997 Chevrolet Blazer. Fuel gauge stopped working 3 years ago. Truck was out of warranty at that time. Approximate milage was 20,000. Current milage is 30,000. This requires a $350. 00 fuel pump, not including labor. Also, windshield wipers stop working intermittantly. (another $75. 00 for parts).
Consumer states when she picked vehicle up from dealership, she noticed that the fuel gauge did not go down, vehicle was taken back to dealership to see if problem had anything to do with previous repairs, it was determined that it was not and consumer was told that she would be responsible for repairs.
Gas gauge gives wrong readng when reading half of tank . Vehicle tank was on empty. Gas guage does not read fuel remaining below half tank. As the result the driver run out of gas twice. Sending unit/ fleat has been replaced but the problem remains.
Defective fuel gauge.
Fuel gauge failed causing consumer to run out of gas. Mjs.
The vehicle continued to run out of gas, due to a gas gauge that was not registering gas intake.
